Overall a great experience. They offer a free shuttle to and from Gora station. TRUST ME, this is a huge perk if you are coming into that station or want to use the cable car (which connects to the ropeway and ferry). The walk to the station is an incredibly steep, dilapidated flight of stairs that is UNSAFE to do with luggage or bad joints. Please do not even attempt and just take the complimentary, comfortable shuttle. We got one of the rooms with the private onsen which was relaxing and novel, but the public onsen is so nice I wouldn’t say it’s necessary. The shower has a rain shower and a handheld, which is always appreciated. The restaurant is well-decorated and the gym is very large for a hotel gym. The public bath is also quite nice and features a jacuzzi, although I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work. I’m not a fan of dry saunas, but if you are they have one. They also have a foot bath although I regrettably was not able to go. I have to note that the check-in process is very upscale, including refreshments and some Japanese snacks. There are also free skincare products at the front desk. Complimentary water and coffee refills in the room was also a nice touch. They also offer shuttles to the station where you can pick up the Shinkansen. I can’t think of anything bad to say.

Phenomenal hotel with amazing service. The staff is very helpful and many of them spoke fluent English. We arrived off the local bus in pouring rain. An employee came out to us with an additional umbrella and towels to help us dry off. The rooms were spacious and stylish. We had a beautiful view of the town, river, and mountains. We also had a private onsen that was amazing. We had the dinner course and breakfast buffet, both very delicous. We'll be back. Thank you!

A bit shocked to see some bad reviews because I had a great time here. Stayed for 2 days, left for Tokyo and decided to come back by myself for one more night just to relax a little bit more. Shuttle bus conveniently located at Odawara station with specific times to help get to the hotel a lot easier and they shuttle you back! Their other shuttle to Gora station was also very convenient. I had a wonderful experience - rooms were very clean and comfortable, I slept so easily and got a good nights rest for the first time after traveling for 2 weeks.

Staff was super kind and friendly. They were so helpful and welcoming the minute we arrived. Everything was done well with their organization. My apologies for not getting the girls name who checked me in on May 3rd but she was great and answered all our questions. Also want to give recognition to Thapa and Ha. All of them made my travels here much better with how nice they were. Thanks for a great stay and can’t wait to come back! :)

This was honestly my best hotel experience ever. Any experience is elevated by how you are treated, and the staff here were the kindest most welcoming I have ever experienced. The room was incredible, the vibes were immaculate, the food was delicious and the spa was magical. Will be dreaming of a return.

Had a lovely two-night stay at Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora, a perfect base for Hakone activities and close to the Open Air Museum. I wish I had booked a third night. The hotel is in a quieter part of Hakone, super relaxing and dreamy with the mountain view, the sound of the river and the general charm and stillness of the town we could see from the in room hot spring bath. The hotel is about ten mins walk via the stairs to Gora Station and provides a complimentary chauffeur service to Gora Station before 18:00 and periodic shuttle buses to Odawara Station.

Service is attentive - especially Ms. Thu, the Burmese lady that works the bar and the restaurant. We were given a lovely honeymoon message with the ice-cream. I missed the breakfast buffet because of my severe jetlag and the in room dining was arranged last minute. Everyone was warm and attentive.

We loved the hot spring bath tub in the room facing the town and the mountains. A super relaxing experience. There's also a public Onsen, for which you'd need a bathing suit but I didn't even make it down there.

We had dinner both nights at the hotel restaurant, which was again excellent. Wood grilled options are recommended, especially the steak. The local draft beer is also great. Honestly I needed another night to enjoy the amenities and check out art spots nearby.

We had a room with a private Onsen and Mountain View- the room was amazing and very spacious. The Onsen was ideal and the room was very stylish - I would probably have preferred the river view as the “mountain view” was really just some trees and the car park. Only negative was the fact that there was a builders yard right outside the hotel on the mountain side - rather spoilt the ambiance but really only a minor issue. The whole hotel was very stylish and the bar restaurant area lovely. The breakfast was very extensive and catered for everyone. DON’T walk to Gora station unless you like steep steps!

We had a very comfortable stay at Hotel Indigo. The highlight of our stay was enjoying a footbath and a fantastic river view while sipping coffee, all served by the warm and friendly Riverside Kitchen & Bar staff!

This hotel has a cool vibe, not so traditional and strict with rules for their onsen. Nothing mentioned abt tattoos or camera in the public bath. Has an outdoor foot bath. And men/women open bath that u can use with swimsuit.
Rooms are nice and spacious. The river sound was loud but nice as white noise.

Splendid hotel , a little high priced, but worth it. Swimming suit allowed in the public onsen (a plus for European guests). Elderly people or people with knee/back issues should call shuttle from the hotel to pick them up from the train station, as there are a lot of stairs to climb down to get to the hotel

What a relaxing and warm stay at Hakone. Hotel staff was welcoming, attentive and helpful. The rooms are updated (even if I’m not a fan of the AI assistant).

The onsen in the room was wonderful, hot and cold, filled quickly and held the temperature. The public onsen was clean and very enjoyable. Breakfast is a highlight as is happy hour.

Beautiful location for this great hotel. The staff were all so kind and helpful. The transfer from the train and shuttle into Gora were so handy. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

The hotel located at a local beautiful and quiet area. Room is very good with large space and private hot spring. We had dinner for two nights during our stay. Food is very delicious and worthy.
Howerver, the distatnce from the hotel to Gora station is a bit far. There is a short cut (強羅近道) which is very slippy and it would be quite hard to connect between Gora station and the hotel if you carry luggage or have children in company. The hotel does offer free shuttle between Gora station and hotel, but only availabe during 10am~18pm is not a proper/friendly time to the tourists. There is public bus stop near the hotel, but may need to transition for couple times to arrive the destination. In addition, the bus is very crowded during the rush hours. Hotel can help to get a cab but it is not easy to get an available cab on time as the cab in Hakone seems to be limited.

Premium top-notch service. The location can be hard to access by public transit, but the hotel's free shuttle service makes up for that. First, they offer free pick-up and drop-off at Odawara Station. This shuttle runs every 2 hours, so it's best to check the schedule ahead of time as it's listed on their website. Second, they also provide free on-call shuttle service from/to Gora station. This is a life saver since the road from/to Gora is very hilly and have narrow roads. You can call the hotel through whatsapp and they'll be there in 5 minutes. The rooms were super clean and relaxing as well. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hakone. I wouldn't expect much for the view.

Stayed here for a few days back in June 2023 and I had a fantastic experience. The rooms are clean, spacious, and have fantastic views of the surrounding area (particularly the river-facing ones). We opted for a private onsen room, which was definitely a cool experience. The restaurant downstairs is also good - maybe not the best value, but definitely worth it if you have Amex credits or something along those lines. The surrounding area is very nice but be warned that your food options will be limited.

The biggest draw for me personally was the free shuttle to Gora station. From there, you can easily reach wherever you're trying to go, including Hakone-Yumoto station at the base of the mountain and Lake Ashi via the gondola.

This hotel is a little far away, but they offer drop off and pick up at Gora Station. Just contact the hotel. Although, I didn't mind the walk. There is a 7-11 across the bridge, a small coffee shop, and a pizza place very close.

First, their dinner service offers vegan options. They even double-checked the ingredients. The soy steak, curry risotto, curry rice, various salads, rice bread, fruit tray, and grilled veggies are all options. They also have Ashi Dry Zero. The prices are reasonable for a hotel too. It was the perfect choice for two tired travelers.

The rooms are spacious and newly furnished. There is so much space for bags and souvenirs. They have 2 complementary bottles of water, teas, and coffee. There is a mini bar and snacks. The Soy Joy Bar and Chips were vegan, too!

The outdoor onsen on the balcony was the highlight. There are shades you can use to make it more private. We used the tub 2x in one night. Very relaxing.

Room: Clean and spacious. Modern-Japanese interior. In-room coffee and tea are good quality. In-room onsen bath tub is one of the best. I read some reviews said doubt their in-room onsen but to me, my sore knee and ankle heal immediately and my skin feel soft and smooth after soak. The bed is high tech - Bluetooth, charger, etc. The room has AI assistant (Hello, AI) - similar to Google Home, to turn down the room mood and other simple instructions.

Facilities: Good space of gym. Public onsen pool - guests required to wear swimsuit to go into public onsen. Swimsuit rental is available. I like the idea of foot onsen seating facing the river view outdoor. So refreshing and relaxing. The hotel restaurant serve more on western food. Dinner is fine dining standard. Breakfast buffet could be better.

Services: The services from front desk is helpful and friendly. However, other sections of the hotel services such as restaurant, I would prefer with welcoming smile with friendly interaction.

Location: Hotel is hide out from main street. Quiet in residence area. Walking distance to small bus stop (roadside at road junction). Car parking is available for hotel guest and it is free. Free shuttle bus can be requested at front desk if you not travel by car. Nearby 1 or 2 restaurants within walking distance. Walking distance is suitable for older children because is along main road and junctions, the cars and buses are quite a speed if to cross the road.

I will definitely return to this hotel.

beautiful and clean rooms
relaxing vibe

would stay here again for a relaxing vacation

kids would get bored here as there is not much going on at night. food was quite pricey as well (on average 2000 yen per dish for room service)

location was accessible but having a var would enhance your trip a lot as its a tad far from everything

Hotel Indigo Hakone was absolutely the highlight of our family holiday trip and we couldn't have ended it in a better way. A great location surrounded by beautiful scenery, we had the leaves changing colours while sitting on the private Onsen with a cool breeze. A top spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and major cities. All amenities you would require including serviced transport were included by the hotel and they also have a tasteful breakfast and dinner menu!

What made the stay perfect was the attentiveness, care, and phenomenal service the staff was willing to go to make our stay special. It was truly enough for us to consider not going home! Our deepest thanks to Yamada T. and staff, including Thu, for your generous hospitality and accommodation and for making our anniversary and family trip one to remember for a lifetime.

We'll be seeing you again soon from Australia and have already recommended you to our family and friends. Thank you again.

The room is clean, and I particularly appreciate the bathtub that allows for a refreshing flow of cool air from outside. The staff members are friendly, and the location is convenient, being not far from the train.

The best hotel I get in this Japan trip. Public onsen with swim suit. Private onsen in your room. The best scenery beside the hotel
