La Castellana

Amazing view with delicious food, we ordered pasta with salsiccia and tartufo, peposo and potatoes made in the oven, and was amazing. Their wine also was great, but the sweets were not that much. The staff were very nice and we had a great time.

Wow! A VERY old restaurant in Toscana with so much charm and character. One of those places you feel lucky to be dining in, plus the food was out of this world good. Definitely our favorite place we ate at in Chianti and cannot wait to be back here again.

We had some of the best food of our lives at this amazing restaurant! The truffle burrata was out of this world. You simply must have the steak as well. An unforgettable experience.

How classic can a Tuscan trattoria be? This atmospheric small restaurant is located on a steep slope leading up to Montefioralle (a Medieval hamlet which seemed to not have changed for a hundred years). The staff is friendly and awkward in a non-confronting way. We drank a fine Chianti Classico wine. Our meal started with a first course of tagliatelle with truffle, great in it’s simplicity. As a second dish we shared steak with rosemary and green peppercorns. Holy cow this was good. The steak was tender, juicy and cooked to a perfect rare. To accompany this masterpiece we had a nice side of grilled vegetables. Definitely worth a visit and make sure to reserve a table in advance!

Side note: I am allergic to nuts and the staff was very informative and flexible with the dishes. Some reviews state that they are not careful concerning allergies. They seemed to have learned from past mistakes.

The food is superb, the view is magnificent!
You need to reserve a table in advance as there are no free tables usually.
The Florentine steak is out of this world, and the truffle ravioli is a must.
Surprisingly the prices are more than fair.

If you love black truffle make the trip from Florence - a genuinely spectacular lunch - well worth writing off the whole afternoon - so good

I think I can say that ravioli with ricotta and truffles was the best pasta I ever ate! It’s extremely good. My fiancé got the day special which was stewed beef in pepper and tomato sauce which he also liked. The tiramisu was very tasty as well. It’s a busy restaurant so you need to book in advance.

Absolutely amazing food using local seasonal ingredients. Anything with truffles is fabulous. We had pasta dishes and mixed vegetables, a lovely lunch. The service is great and the setting is mostly beautiful.

As a Korean, I know what is a good quality of beef because Korean beef is one of the best..but the Florencia steak I had at LA Castellana is absolutely perfect and amazing. I had enjoyed so much with Chanit wine and side grilled veggies that the waiter recommend. Thank you so much for your perfectly lovely dinner. It was the best during our trip ♡

It was such a great dining experience at La Castellana that we had to go back again the next day for some more wine and the appetizers. Their very friendly staff made excellent food recommendations based on what we were looking for. Their casual Al frescoe dining provided us with amazing views of the Tuscan hills with stunning sunset.
Slightly challenging drive to climb up the steep hill just outside of Greve but absolutely worth it. BTW did I mention that it is located right outside of a tiny charming village of Montefioralle.

Amazing place, dishes with truffles are great. Nice spot and friendly staff. They had some good tips from outside the menu and lovely wines. Populair place, best to make a reservation when you want to eat there.

Wonderful service, hosts that speak perfect English and it’s overall lovely. There wasn’t a dish which didn’t impress us, will highly recommend to book before coming especially if in a big group.

La Castellana 5.0+
La Castellana is one of the restaurants we look forward to visiting every year. The restaurant is located in Montefioralle. La Castellana is owned and operated by a husband-and-wife team. A dinner at La Castellana is always the best meal in the Greve area. The restaurant has a small seating area indoors and a slightly larger outdoor seating area. The service team is very friendly. The menu offers many options, and they have a large selection of wines from throughout Italy. We had a group of 6 persons and we all ordered different main courses. Many of our dishes included truffles, which were especially appreciated. Feedback from everyone in our group was extremely positive. We even had one of our individuals order a second main course; a large order of sliced steak. He said the meat was perfect and sadly he would not share with the table. We also enjoyed a selection of desserts which we did all enjoy. Overall, one of the best meals we had during our stay in Italy.

My wife and I had an incredible lunch here. We didn’t make reservations so we had to settle for eating inside but on such a hot day we were ok with that. For starters I got the bruschetta with lard and truffles, which was incredibly good. We both got pasta dishes, mine being with wild boar sauce and my wife’s a ravioli with truffles. Everything was incredible, the atmosphere is amazing, and we topped it off with a relaxing walk around the ancient village adjacent to the restaurant. A truly special experience overall.

Everything was perfect. Food, service and atmosphere. This was a homerun and the best overall dining experience we had thus far and we've had some good ones! Cannot recommend this small family restaurant enough!

My wife and I made the short trip from Florence to Montefioralle, and it exceeded our expectations (both this restaurant and the beautiful little town). This restaurant was definitely a favorite meal during our trip.... we both ordered off the fresh truffle menu; I had the short pasta with ground pork and truffle, and my wife had the ravioli. Both were decadent, and different enough that it was fun to trade bites. We also started with the mixed charcuterie (misto), which was huge and also great.

The outdoor seating area is literally right on a cliff, with a peaceful, quiet view of the valley below. It's an excellent respite from the crowds in Florence. The servers were very attentive, despite the outdoor seating area being across the small road from the restaurant.

Really delicious food, very well prepared. The staff was friendly and polite. I really loved it there and I recommend it as a food experience. You don't have a lot of options, but i prefer it this way. It's worth the trip. I recommend a reservation, even if it is made on the same day.

La Castellana got it all!!!
We had the wild boar stew, and the special of the day which was ravioli with a duck. For dessert we had a tiramisu and panacota. That was accompanied by a bottle of the Chianti house wine.
The cozy atmosphere and beautiful design, the delicious traditional Tuscan food, the warm service (we also got free Prosecco for the wait), and the pastoral location in the borgo next to Greve in Chianti, made this place so unique and magical. definitely recommended.
