By far the best experience my husband and I had while in Rome. This was what we were looking for. The owner was friendly and our server (i believe his daughter) was absolutely wonderful and amazing to us. Food kept coming, we had antipasti, pasta, wine, dessert…. And the price was very inexpensive!! Thank you so much to this family!

If there was a way to give 1000 stars I would! This is THE authentic Rome dining experience! You will feel like you have been invited to their home for dinner. Do not ask for a menu. Eat what they tell you is being served and enjoy!

What an experience! You truly feel like part of the family. We got lucky without reservations on a Saturday night and was given a table. We were given the best food without even looking at a menu. He asked if we wanted Antipasto and was brought four plates of amazing food! For the noodles he gave us a sampling of you got 4 plates haha. One plate kept coming after the other. My son and I has a blast!

This place is as authentic and real as it's going to get. Not for the posh clientele, what an absolute treat. Food top notch. The owners recommend dishes, and you can not leave food on your plate lol. Great if you like tough and ready service and great food.

This is not a place for soft people! Don't bring weak people or small appetites. It's not a place to order off a menu, or worry about the service. They are going to treat you like you are family. Eat what they give you and don't talk back!

Dino is going to insist, in Italian, that you drink wine, eat appetizers, then pasta, then meat, then dessert, then after dinner drinks.

It's like eating in your uncle's kitchen while he is cooking for a big wedding. No time to deal with your nonsense.

But it is an amazing experience. Treat it like a family dinner. Come VERY hungry. You are going to be fed way too much. Dino will insist on it, and may even load your plate up for you if he sees you slacking. And the food is excellent. Every plate was top notch. Make sure you take pictures with Dino and Tony when you are finished.

For me it was an amazing experience I won't forget.

Simple and absolutely delicious! The tirimasu is devine. I had no issues with service. Appetizers, two pasta dishes, a glass of white wine, tirimasu, and 2 espressos were $80.

Excellent address !!!
A place not to miss if you are near the vatican. True roman restaurant with real local atmostphere and amazing flavours in all dishes. We went there once...ended up dining there 3 times in a row.
The antipasti mix followed by the pasta mix is just great. Only the real big eaters will dare to follow with a meat or fish dish 😁
Enjoy !!!

This is my first time in Italy, and therefore my first time at Dino and Toni which is situated on Via Leone IV and thus conveniently close to Vatican City.

I notice their Facebook page indicates it is Dino and Tony yet in their Hostaria Tony is Toni. Regardless it is a fantastic place to eat. This is our second time we are here. We ate here as a group of seven on Monday and today, Thursday, it is my spouse and myself. This alone should be a good indication of the quality of the food.

For people like myself, not from France or Italy the first question is what is a Hostaria? (It is an alternative form of osteria in Italian.) To me, please excuse my ignorance, it reminds me of a Greek
Mezze (or meze). When I looked up the definition it is described as a type of eatery where the dishes are simpler with more reasonable pricing compared to a restaurant. Also, it is a more casual atmosphere. It is usually based on market availability.

When we were here on Monday, we arrived early and watched Dino open the place a few minutes before 1930 hrs / 7:30 p.m. Today we arrived a few minutes later and though people were seated, we were welcomed and had a seat right away. I would caution about thinking you can pop in anytime. Also, this is a typical European meal, if you are in a rush, you best go elsewhere. However, if you want a reasonably priced delicious meal you must come here.

As per the name, you do not get a menu and pick items. You get what they have. This does not mean you do not have choices. If you want no pork, no problem. If you want no meal, it is the same, no problem. Dino do ask you if you want antipasto and wine. The first time I thought, do I get red or white wine since I did not know what I going to eat? Get what you want! No one here will judge you regardless of your choice.

Anytime we come to Rome, we will return!

Great experience with Dino and Tony. Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere! The carbonara was excellent, and the Tiramisu is out of this world! These guys make you feel like your family. A must stop for anyone in the area. Fantastico!

I wish there were a 100 stars to give!! This place was AMAZING!!
They treated us, ( the 4 American girls) like Familia!! The food was incredible, the waiters were awesome and it was either Dino or Tony ( I can't remember 😆) took care of us without barely speaking any english!! The waiter Juell, also made sure we had every thing we needed and then some!! We just ate & drank what they brought and enjoyed every minute!! I would totally recommend you go if you have any time in Rome!! You will not be disappointed!! 🇮🇹

Best dinner we had in Rome with a unique experience. The service is brusque but the food is divine. There are no menus but the chef just comes and asks if you’d like the next course. As we and our neighbors learned, the only right answer is yes.

The antipasti was tasty, the 3 pastas were perfectly cooked and the tiramisu was the best of my life. With all this food and wine for 2 it was 68 euros, well worth it for us!

For those saying they don’t offer menus, it’s not true. We had a couple sit next to us who asked for a menu and was served what they ordered while my party and I feasted on their endless amount of food they brought out with amazing liquor and wine. This was the best food we had in Rome.

Our favourite food experience in Italy! We accepted all the suggestions they gave us and were not sorry. Portions are big and truly delicious. It's a simple Italian restaurant, and it doesn't get any more authentic than this. Forget the menu, just say yes to whatever Dino or Tony suggest and you won't be sorry. You will probably have to stop them at some point, because portions are huge. Price was very reasonably. Excellent value for money.

One of the most local Rome restaurants I have been. Delicious antipasto. The taste of the carbonara was of the roof, and I could
have given only gave 4 stars because the pasta was too al dente, but I think this place deserves the 5 stars!!

Very cool place - not much of a menu. Just eat what they tell you to eat. I know, sounds strange but worth it, trust me.

We reserved the place for 9 people for a family dinner after a glowing recommendation from our tour guide (which was also great). It did not fall short and even exceeded oyr expectations. We were served by Dino and Gino and a few other people and it was with a smile, they helped us pick some of the dishes, thought and took care of the youngest kid and the oldest person (we ranged from 8 to 76), wverything we tasted was great, we had many different dishes and we enjoyed everything we ate. To top it off, Dino surprised us and took some items from the bill and added some tasty items on the house. Great food and great service. Can highly recommend

Just go and say "Yes" to everything!

A family member recommended this little local spot to me and I was not disappointed. I was very, very full. Go with at least one other person, as the dishes are numerous and they don't stop coming. Started with an appetizer plate, then three types of pasta. I was so sad the gnocchi came third, as I was already too full to really enjoy it, or even finish it. It was the best gnocchi I've ever had. The tiramisu dessert was out of this world and I was happy to have stuffed myself over the top with it. Service is fast and friendly. Definitlely a real Roman and family feel. I will go back, just with others to help with the endless amounts of food.
