Trattoria Vecchia Roma

there was quite a queue but it went quick even without reservation, but would definitely advise you to make one! there were so many options and especially the pasta ones all sounded so good. the atmosphere inside is super nice with the ceiling and the lights!

Great homemade pasta and pizza. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. We went in October. I saw them turn some people away cause they were fully booked. Nice sized restaurant in the downstairs of the building. Staff was very attentive. From the pasta flambe, to the honey gorgonzola cheese, and even the balsamic dressing for the house salad was all on point.

Everything was PERFECT. The food, the atmosphere, the service and the price — everything was 💯.

1. We ordered their popular bucatini flambé, spaghetti aglio olio, tonnarelli con zucca (spaghetti with pumpkin, bacon and chees), and involtini di manzo alla romana. All of them were delicious especially the bucatini flambé, probably one of the best spaghetti al ragu i've ever eaten in Italy and also the tonnarelli con zucca.
2. The table wine here was so cheap?! It was only 6€ for 0.5 litre (they served it in a small jug)
3. There were four of us and the portion of food and beverage here were definitely more than enough.
3. The prices of food here were very reasonable and the best thing is THEY DON'T CHARGE TABLE FEES!!!
4. It was a very popular trattoria, so make sure to book your table in advanced before coming to the trattoria. Unless there's only 1 or 2 of you (they might let you in if it's lucky for you to have a spot at the moment) , or else you will be rejected to dine there in a group if you did not make your reservation in advanced.

One thing I liked about this place is the staff will tell you right away that there's no seats left if the trattoria is full, and advise you to come again another day in a polite manner. (because some restaurants will just keep you waiting and do not give you clear responses when you ask them about the seats' availability — which i hate it a lot)

Overall i'd rate 5/5 for my dining experience at trattoria vecchia roma. Will definitely be back if I'm visiting Rome again in the future.

The best place to eat and drink house wine in Rome. It was extremely delicious and cheap. The waiters (especially Christian) were very quick, friendly and funny. We felt like home there. Usually you need to wait in a line or make a reservation (but then also wait a little bit) to get a table; but believe me: it’s totally worth it, because it’s all soooo good! That’s why it’s always full. I am gonna miss that amazing food and cool Italien vibes they got in there :(

Was my families favorite restaurant on our whole trip! It was very good food with kind servers. Also, the prices are extremely good. At the restaurant the night before, we each got a glass of house wine that cost 11 euros each, but at Trattoria Vecchia, we could get 1 liter of house wine for 11 euros! Huge portions of food for very fair prices. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation as it was extremely busy when we went. You can easily make a reservation online. Thanks Trattoria Vecchia! We hope to see you again.

Delicious food for a great price, and brilliant service! The Suppli to start and the deserts were a highlight but everything was delicious and well priced. One of the nicest restaurants we visited in Rome

Came with my wife, and it was amazing. I ordered the grilled swordfish and potatoes as a side. Can easily say it's some of the best fish I've ever had. Drinks were a good price and well made too. Reservation is a must. We arrived in Rome on Monday, and it was all booked out by 5 pm. We looked to make a reservation on Tuesday at 11 am and there were only 3 slots left, after 9:30pm. If we stayed in Rome longer, we would definitely come back. They deserve more than 5 stars.

The 9 euro pizza was surprisingly crispy and tasty and good value for money. The lamb chops were delicious and like any other outstanding piece of work in the shop, moderately excellent. We also ordered a signature pasta dish, but it was not to Asian taste. To my surprise tap water was also charged at €2.

Best service in Italy! Coming from the US, it is admittedly an adjustment to have to wave down servers, ask for help, ask questions about the menu, and find wait staff who seem to actually care (as much as a US server who is working for a tip). At Trattoria Vecchia Roma, this is far from the case as every member of the staff was attentive, driven and looking to help. You can tell it is a family business by the way they care for their customers and treat their guests with care. The owner even came up and gave a dog a dish with water inside the restaurant! Most restaurants won’t even give people free water here… amazing environment, incredible food and unforgettable service. A must go when in Rome.

The most amazing food in Rome. Everything was so tasty. The positions are very generous, the service is great, the house wine is amazing. Definitely need to make a reservation in advance.

Best pasta ever ! Very frendly waiters. Classic draft Beer is good.
I didint liked the pistachio tiramisu.
To sweet and taste like amando paste.

Egg and truffle. Was so so. And the eggs was so over cooked. And taste strang it. The fried zuccini flower was very oili. Not amazing. Lemon Raviolli was good ;))

Dinner. Luckily, we made reservations. There was a line of locals waiting for tables. Every dish they brought by looked amazing. I wanted to try everything. The house red was just ok, though.
The spaghetti alla carbonara was a bucket list dish for me. Perfection of my favorite pasta dish! The grilled swordfish made a Filiipina very happy, and they gave us a sample of their house spaghetti, which my wife liked as well!

The ravioli and rigatoni looked amazing, and so did their Tiramisu. Oh, and their tomatoes were all amazing.

My wife and I have just experienced Vechia for the first time and we will definitely be coming back. First off I would recommend making a reservation, we made one for 12:30 for lunch, and by 1pm there was already a queue. In fact there was a queue forming before we were let in, full of locals so that was a good sign. The atmosphere and decor inside is fantastic, the staff made us feel right at home even with my poor attempts at Italian… We had Bruschetta and fried cod to start, the cod may well be the best piece of fried fish i’ve ever eaten, perfectly crisp and not soggy at all. My wife had the Spaghetti aglio olio for her main and said it was “the best thing she’s ever eaten in Rome”. I am now adamant we’re going back so I can have that dish for myself. We weren’t made to rush so we sat back, had a couple glasses of wine and enjoyed our time there. Prices are great, even better when you consider the quality of the food. And to our surprise the bread we ordered wasn’t added to our bill despite it being on the menu for €2, the same with the water, which was a very nice touch. 100% recommend Vechia, amazing food and atmosphere, fair prices, brilliant staff. Excellent traditional Italian. Make reservations if possible so you sit inside. If not, the wait is no more than 20mins, even though they are telling you an hour. Great food, excellent service, a very wonderful experience.

We expected this restaurant to be good because of all the great reviews already and it was so good we ended up going two nights in a row.

We didn’t book a table but managed to get in on both nights (Wednesday 11th October and Thursday 12th October 2023) by queuing up between 10-20 minutes before they opened. We couldn’t book anyway as there were no tables available until a week after we leave.

The atmosphere is vibrant, the staff are quick and you can tell they have a really good system in place to get the orders handled.

Anyway on to the food, we had the prosciutto and mozzarella for starter first night and bruschetta pomodoro on the second night and both were excellent, great flavours from both dishes.

My girlfriend had the gnocchi and I had pizza both nights, they were both a great size, flavour and priced €9 each were good value.

I don’t think I’m adding much to what’s already been said but this really was a fantastic place and if I come back to Rome I would absolutely visit here again.

This place is an 11/10! We sat outside, but the inside looks amazing too! Loved the staff as they were so accommodating and helped us along with the ordering. The pizza here is DYNAMITE! Do yourself a favor and simply get the vino Della casa ( house wine). Incredibly delicious. I had the gnocchi too and it was oh so good! You might wait 20-30 minutes but that’s because it’s SO GOOD!!

Price is very affordable. We ordered the Capricciosa pizza, carbonara and Amatriciana with less salt. We really like the pasta here. Pizza was thin and humongous. It might not be one of the best one in the town but good enough to enjoy. The server was very lovely and helpful. We literally got happier after meal.

Visited Vecchia Roma, had a really enjoyable evening and always planned to return someday. Very busy atmosphere. We had their Spaghetti alla parmigiana, Tiramisu, Nastro azzurro alla spina, draught beer. If you come when open without booking be prepared to wait. The food is amazing and the service is good! The food is authentic and delicious. Booked ahead online and so glad we did as this place didn’t disappoint. The queue was huge for this popular eatery.
