Ristorante Virginiae - Cucina Tipica Romana

We found this restaurant totally randomly for a lunch, we booked at 1pm and we received a nice welcome. The menu is not large, with quality products. We loved the burrata, which was served with some refreshing sides. I took the chicken, which was maybe not really my taste but it felt very well prepared. The wine list was large and nice. We didn’t try the deserts. I totally recommend it.

Excellent food and good service. Not that I would expect anything less, but the balsamic vinegar here was outstanding. The pasta tasted fresh, and the sauces were delicious. Portions were quite large.

What a lovely restaurant. Small menu, but quality food. Silvano took care of us and we were quite surprised that he spoke Dutch to us. I recommend the pasta a la gricia, which had the right amount of everything. I also liked the Roman style artichoke, very soft and you could eat the entire veg. The meat dishes were also very tender and full on taste. We've had the oxtail and the chicken dishes. Both really good. Accompanied by half a liter red wine. Silvano, thank you for a lovely evening!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. One of our favorite restaurants in all of Italy, recommended from stranger on Reddit. We had pesto and an oxtail pasta dish as well as the artichoke and sautéed veggies. Delish!

An informal establishment right next to a bustling street with very friendly and amicable staff. The food here is delicious, pictured are the Pappardelle with Oxtail Sauce, Saltimbocca alla Romana and Tiramisu, all of which I recommend. Come eat here if you’re in the area, though I will say to make a reservation especially if you are a large party.

Where to start, the service probably. Sylvano, the guy who took care of us was amazing, so king and helpful, tried to speak french with us, very very nice guy.
The food was also wonderful, the lasagna was very good and we also tried the classic pasta which was also fine, the wine was delicious.
In summary, food was great, service (Sylvano) was even better and we had a wonderful time !

We’d had a few hits and misses during our Roman odyssey. Some of the highly rated restaurants had not been passing muster. This unassuming trattoria off a side street near Piazza Navona however restored our faith in the Google review system. Everything was perfect. From the relaxed yet refined informality of the decor to our waiter who chose a sumptuous dry white wine to accompany our meal. It was lunch and we were due to catch our flight home so nothing too heavy. Just the classics. Meatballs, carbonara and tiramisu. Each the absolute epitome of cucina romana. The meatballs were just the right side of bouncy bathed in a classic tangy tomato sauce. The carbonara rich and silky with a generous sprinkling of guanciale. And finally the tiramisu. Bitter notes of strong coffee paired beautifully by the sweet notes from the ladyfingers and whipped mascarpone. We smiled with each mouthful, it was that good. They care about their food here. So should you.

We spent the dinner on December 24 and was amazing, the food incredible, the staff so kind ☺. Very nice experience. 100% recommended

This restaurant was a surprise and wonderful find. I have been in Rome for 6 weeks working and on my days off exploring Rome and it’s restaurants. This is THE BEST food I have had in Rome. The portions were generous and perfect. Silvano’s service was friendly, welcoming and professional. It was lovely to talk to him. He was prompt, and attentive. Thank you Silvano and to the chefs for my favorite meal in Rome. Oh and the Prosecco was very tasty too.

Perfection! If you’re in Rome check this place out for a great lunch or dinner. The service is perfect, Silvano was very welcoming and helpful. The cheese board was delicious. I also really enjoyed the cacio e pepe. Also great value for money, for four people, we had 2 appetizers, 4 mains, dessert and drinks all for 150 euros.

But I would skip the tiramisu next time. Also their balsamic vinegar was exquisite. Make sure to try it.

We went here as it was convenient to some sighseeing our guests were doing around Piazza Navona and just chose it based on Google reviews. What a great find! The food was excellent as was the service and the lovely setting.

I've lived in Rome for the past 3 years and know to generally stay away from the lasgna (frozen most of the time) unless it specifies made in house which this did and it did not disappoint! In our group one had the meatballs and roasted potatoes and the other the handmade ravioli stuffed w/ ricotta and spinach, all excellent as were the starters of caprese salad and prosciutto and melon.

The prices are in line with what you find right in the historic center (so a few more euros per plate than if you were not in the centro) but totally worth it considering the location.

Our waiter was great, menus available in English too. Oh, and I made the reservation online which I love. We were there for lunch on a Wednesday in early May so it turned out we didn't need them but I like to err on the side of having them anyway instead of waiting or wandering around.

A rare catch in this quite touristy area. Not pretending to be anything other than it is, and what it is, is good. Service is attentive, decor simple and clean, atmosphere pleasant. Menu restricted to what they do well, which we tasted in all that we ordered. House wine, red and white, both taste like someone took the trouble of carefully choosing them, and nice selection of bottles. Came back and everything was just the same - good.

So glad I discovered this restaurant. Dishes you need to try when in Rome: Saltinbocca alla Romana, and Calf’s Tripe, they do them so well. Sat indoors upstairs and was such a private special experience. Service was warm, genuine, unpretentious.

It’s a small restaurant with friendly staff and amazing food.
As tourists, we tried to find places that are not tourist traps and this was one of the best we found.
The food is very tasty, wine is excellent.

Outstanding!!! Magnificent. I live in the area and have been wanting to come for a while. I wish I ate here sooner. I am for sure adding it to my list of go to local restaurants in Rome. I will make it a regular spot. Everything was super fresh and homemade. The ambiance is incredible! Do yourself a favor and eat here. They offer typical Roman dishes. Really a true gem in Rome.
