One of the hidden gem of this country. Don’t expect nice facilities or anything, there is only changing rooms and that’s it. But the views and experience is something we will never forget! A 10 to 20 minutes walk for the parking to the pool, and you need hiking shoes. Free parking

Definitely recommend going there, especially in winter. The water wasn’t hot, but warm enough to enjoy. There was no people. The hike there was a little bit challenging because of the wet snow

Not a bad little hike. Water is tepid. If you hike passed the pool, there are mini water falls that are quite warm. Lovely views

This was one of my highlights of Iceland. There’s a bit of a walk to get there (not too long) which was really nice following the river.
The pool was really amazing. We were hesitant to get in because it was raining - luckily we did and didn’t regret it at all! The changing room has hooks to hang your clothes up and keeps you nicely sheltered from the wind, and getting out was much easier than I was expecting.
It’s such a picturesque location and is so natural.
The water was warm enough for me, it’s definitely warm enough when you first get in, you do start to get used to it, the end further away from the changing area is warmer.

If you’re on the edge about doing this - I would definitely recommend.

Hot springs with small changing room. Only 5-10 min walk from the parking! Water around 42C (my guess)

Beautiful. I’d go here rather than the Blue Lagoon anytime!! 20 minute walk from nearest parking. This is a brick built open air pool filled by a hot spring. It is hot and a completely authentic experience. There are three communal changing rooms, all are a bit rough and ready. There are no other facilities. If this puts you off I suggest you invest in a dry robe.

Getting here was a bit rough. Google maps would not give us directions. So I zoomed in and set a mark for the turn off and then figured it out. You leave the main road and drive on a nice dirt road for awhile to a parking area. Then it is a short hike and there is a nice trail on the left you may not see at first.

We read an article about how tourists had trashed this place, how it is dirty and the hot springs not
Hot. Contrary to this article we found it extremely nice. The pool is hot near the deep end where it is fed by the spring.

The changing rooms are primitive and there are no facilities but it is FREE.

And the views are incredible

One of my favorite places in Iceland!

Had a small walk, less than 25 minutes, it still cold but it was worth it, if you dare to take a swim! 😂

Free swimming location! Not hot, but warm-lukewarm; hot water comes in at the corner pipe and from the small water trickle down the rock wall if you want a toastier location to lounge. Not regularly cleaned so there is lots of algae growth along the sides & bottom. Primitive changing rooms available. Decent walk away from the parking lot makes you truly feel like you’re in the middle of nature!

The pool is nothing special but the walk in the gorge behind it is stunning (warning - it is not an easy walk especially when wet)

Frozen solid in January and off season. Would advise visiting later in year.
