Básar Hut & campsite

Really cool natural camping with a great atmosphere. The camp site is huge and very natural looking. You can put your tent anywhere you want. Almost feels like wild camping

What a place! Fish and chips and a fresh pint in the new Basar pub is the perfect way to warm up after a long hike. Could not recommend enough!!

We stayed at the campground. Really nice spots to put your tents, very private between trees and flowers. Calm, in the nature and not many people on the beggining of July. Perfect before starting the hike to Skógar (most of the hikers stays at the campsite at the end of the Laugavegur trail. This one is 2 km further, but then 2km won for the next day, if you keep on until Skógar ;) ). No kitchen but good and clean facilities. We really liked the site.

After driving trough deep rivers and though roads with our 4x4, we finally arrived at the camp. It did not disappoint with its wonderful tent spots, huts and most important; nature. If you are looking for a place to disconnect from your everyday life for a week or so this is the place to be. Just remember to bring your own food if you are planning to stay there for more than a day.

I'm really enjoyed to stay at Basar campsite. The campsite is covered with trees and it is very spacious. A lot of good places to put a tent. The number of toilets are spread over the place, so this is very comfortable. Right for July of 2017 there is no grocery store, but from my understanding they are planning to open one.

Very god location for short or long walks. Beautiful surroundings. Good facilities, big community room in case of bad weather when tenting. Friendly wardens, provided locked room for our luggage while going on dayhike. But bring all the food you need for at stay.
Mobile phone charging possible for small fee.

Very quiet campsite, good infrastructure. Attention no possibility to charge battery at all. Nice hiking possibilities. As well for MTB the trail in direction to skóga is really nice

My favorite camping in Iceland. Very big and green,you can always find some private place for your tent. 1500kr,shower extra paid. But thats really good price in comparison to Volcano Huts. Quite big kitchen but there are no any facilities just place where wind won't disturb you. And no need to cross Krossa. Take some staff for barbeque :)

Less touristic option than Volcano Huts for those who are looking for quiet base in Thorsmork. Very well equipped kitchen and a lot of toilets inside and outside the huts, the hut itself in very good condition, BBQ facilities outside the hut. Also very spacious camping grounds, everybody can find a peaceful place (in more open space or in the trees). During our stay there were couples, single travellers as well as whole families with kids staying in the hut with us.

Nice forested campsites, a great yurt-like spot to dry out and eat. Closest option if you're coming from Skogar.

Really beautiful location with well maintained infrastructure. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and stunning hikes.

ciche fajne miejsce, jest restauracja oraz dobrze zaopatrzony sklep przy recepcji. z tego miejsca mozna tez odjechac lub tu przyjechac autobusem np do Selfos . okolo kilometr dalej jest kolejna baza Porsmork, ale tu zdecydowanie sa wieksze mozliwosci.
