Höfn HI Hostel

We had a lovely stay at Hofn HI! We stayed for one night back in November 2023. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean and the staff was wonderful. The lady at the reception shared tips on where to find Northern Lights :) The kitchen size were decent and there's double of appliances (less waiting time).

Overall, a great spot!
Pros:
-Shared kitchen is extremely well-stocked with kitchenware and appliances; three small stoves with ovens, three sinks.
-Laundry available.
-Good ratio of shared bathrooms to bedrooms.
-Convenient to have a small sink in the room.
-Our first night, the host let us know that Northern Lights had been sighted on the hill behind the hostel, so we were able to get outside and see them!

Cons:
-Only one microwave shared among everyone at the hostel.
-Room was small.
-It was inconvenient to take shoes off to walk around the hostel, but this rule helps keep the place clean.

Cleaner than hotel, everything was squeaky clean including the bathroom and kitchen. Very friendly staff! Looking forward to coming back here

I recently stayed at a hostel that was one of the nicest and cleanest I've experienced. The check-in process was great, and the receptionist walked me to my room and explained the amenities. The hostel had a social room with tables to eat and hang out and a kitchen and additional tables in another room. Parking was easy, and the location was incredible, with views of a golf course and water from the window.

However, the private room was advertised as "sound-proof," but unfortunately, it wasn't sound-proof as advertised. I could hear talking, people walking around, and even a group of guys playing with dice in the room above me. When they dropped the dice on the floor, I could hear every single bounce.

Despite this downside, I still highly recommend this hostel to anyone. It's only a few minutes' drive to some of the restaurants in the area, and the location is ideal for a great view of the northern lights.

By far my favourite hostel in Iceland. The service was excellent, and a very friendly operator/owner. The kitchen is great, and the rooms are very nice as well. The shower/bathroom amenities were superb. Great place to stay in Hofn (at a good price as well). Highly recommend staying here.

This is not a Hostel, it's a 3 star hotel, loved my stay. Rooms were very clean, kitchen was fully setup. Free coffee available.

Very clean, had all amenities. Nice sitting area outside the kitchen and dining space. Kitchen was big and fully equipped. Loved the vibe of this hostel. We traveled with 2 kids and they also enjoyed their stay here.

Very clear and comfy accommodation, really good choice if you looking for something for short term, the shower and toilet is on the cell, one cell is for about 5 people, so if you travel with big group of friends, it is perfect choice. You can use kitchen and the devices in it, coffee, tea or melta is for free there.

Great place. Clean rooms, with sinks in them which was nice. Shared bathrooms were clean, warm floors (you have to take off your shoes), great kitchen! We were able to do our laundry too (2000 ISK)!

Very clean rooms and a new and clean shared bathroom. Currently being renovated so everything is new. Large kitchen and a common room with board games. There is also coffee, tea, chocolate and cookies available all day. One of the best hostels I have visited.

Best hostel I’ve ever been!! Everything was super clean and tidy! Rooms looked very new and modern, comfortable beds. There was a big kitchen with several ovens, a dish washer and plenty of cooking utensils! Super friendly staff!! I really loved it and would absolutely suggest it! :))

I ADORE this hostel. I was only there for one night and wish I could have stayed longer. It was quaint, quiet, and full of friendly guests and families. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked. The rooms are comfortable, light and decorated nicely. The bathrooms were nice and included a sauna. Everything was very clean. The village is adorable and I had an amazing (somewhat pricey meal) at a small restaurant in the village center. This is a perfect stop for a quiet relaxing getaway in a mountain town.

Super clean!!! We had to take our shoes off at the entrance (love that) and the first thing I noticed was that the bathroom was spotless. One of the cleanest places I've ever stayed at. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and showed us where everything was. The kitchen has everything you need to make yourself a nice meal. I plan to return to Iceland, and I will definitely return here!

What looks like a small hostel from the outside is quite spacious on the inside.

Everything is neatly in place, clean, amply equipt and mostly spacious! Staff at registration was friendly.

Rooms are well sectioned with ample bathrooms allocated per shared area. This gives the hostel a spacious and non claustrophobic comfortable, heartful vibes.

Was quite awed at how well planned room allocations are, with family rooms (with kids) sectioned at the end of the corridor with a safe kiddy cordoned play area, away from crowd.

There are also rooms in basement.

Booked this accommodation in 2019. Covid hit. We were devastated as for the first time ever, we had booked/paid all accommodation way in advance many months before trip.

HI hostel Hofn was thankfully empathic to our predicament (had bad experience with another). This meant so much to us. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Hence it was a plus that accommodation too exceeded our expectations.

Very good hostel, fully renovated, wih all the necessary features (bathrooms, kitchen, laundromat,...) and friendly staff. Good location too, only about 10 minutes from the town center.

Clean and quite! We had a private room with a little sink and mirror. The bathroom/shower were clean. I highly recommend this place.

Booked it super spontaneous, was no Problem. The staff was super super friendly and even stayed longer so I could check in!

Tidy, very clean and nice rooms with good mattresses. Perfect for your pitstop on the way to the Glacier or back to Reykjavik. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need and quote big, so various people can cook there together.

Best hostel I have ever stayed at. Cosy and warm, spotlessly clean, excellent facilities and the staff and amazing. Cheaper than much lower standard hostels!
