Visiting the opened museum, it seemed we had traveled back 1000 years ago when Vikings arrived in Iceland, assuming that is the first step of Vikings on this island. Even the construction of this Viking village is imitated for film photography, it looked real with the component surroundings such as whale skeletons, Viking boats, wooden statues, Viking houses, etc.

A must visit while driving the Ring Road in Iceland. It is only about a 10 minute drive to get to it off the main road. Beautiful scenery. There is a cafe at the beginning that you are required to stop at to pay a fee per person to enter but you can visit for as long as you want. One of my many favorite stops in Iceland.

This was a cool place to see. The mountains and black sand dunes were really beautiful. There is hiking/walking trails here. You can walk around the Viking village and see the buildings there. Overall it's a good experience. You do need to pay to get into the place though.

It is a nice small area. You get a bit the feeling of the old times.
Price is included in the camping fees. So if you stay there, you must visit it. It is worth a short stroll

This is a great place to relax while being surrounded by nature! Me and my friends visited the village in the early morning and we were the only ones there, so we had the possibility to visit without rush! You have to park the car in a big spot and then do 10 minutes of walking to reach the village itself! The ticket costs about 6/7€ but it pays back with the astonishing view! There are also free roaming horses but (at least in our case) they are not aggressive! Don’t miss it in your itinerary around this beautiful country!

BTW: Being situated near the ocean it is very windy so bring clothes accordingly!

Such a great place, with opportunities to see wild and interesting landscapes. The village, particukarly in the fog, as in the photos, really gave a sense of what life in a Viking village might've been like, even though it is a film set

Payment included the whole area so if you have time, visit the movie set as well.

I'm freshly done with visiting. This place is awesome! The Caffe is very cosy and plesant. The vilage is a 10 minute walk from the parking point but it's a pretty great walk. Then you can just visit the inside of the village unrestricted (but at your own risk) and there's also a Viking ship.

Look it's a former movie set, but it really is amazing to see. And the ticket price is like nothing especially for Iceland prices. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

One of our favorite stops! So many great photo opportunities! It's a bit of a walk down the shoreline. But, you hardly notice it because there's so much beautiful scenery along the way. You can't get any better background for photos than a Viking village! To add to the enjoyment, we made friends with a mom horse and her baby. We actually spent most of our time with them. There's even a wooden ship! Enter the buildings at your own risk at the post signs clearly state. A very cool stop along our Icelandic tour.

I actually like this place a lot! You purchase a ticket for about $9 per adult, and then they give you a QR code paper that you scan to get past the you can also get some very good coffee at the cafe, the expresso and other coffees are made by an actual person and not a machine, which is unusual outside of Reykjavik. They were very nice people and helped me out when I got the van stuck. Needless to say, stay on the road. Do not pull off even a foot unless you're in a specific parking area, the sand is very fine and very deep. As for the Viking village, it was pretty neat, and a short walk to it from a specific parking lot. You can add certain times of the day walk off the trail and go on to the floodplain which has remarkable reflective abilities on the beautiful mountain Vesterhorn. You can get some incredible pictures that look like you're walking on water. There are two spots farther down where you can drive to and get some even better pictures, and a wonderful sand beach with very interesting tufts of grass and sand. It's a very nice place, I would highly recommend! Just don't go off the path with your car. Also have some coffee while you're there, it might be the best you find on the whole east and south side!

I have to agree with other reviewers that the place is not maintained but it is still a great place to visit and a good spot for a quick hike. It was worth the visit

The parking is 15min walk from the village.
Apparently you have to pay to visit it (or to park more close) but personally I just walk to it, anyway no one is supervising this.
The village is a great thing to see and you have a good view on Vestrahorn. But the village have some parts broken because he don't seem to be maintained.

This place was such a vibe when we visited. Foggy ambiance and the small amount of people definitely added to the experience. It was cool to know that a scene for the Witcher prequel was shot here!

It's interesting, but I think it still needs to be arranged so that it looks just like a viking village. It's certainly not a bad place to visit

Amazing place. The props look so real haha but it goes really well with the mountain behind, very very cool! Have to pay a ticket for that, but the view is just amazing. And it is not a super tourist spot thus not very crowded. Can get super windy down there!

We came here for the camping and location. The viking town was meh, not my interest but the stunning beauty of the mountain backdrop was excellent. The ladies working at the café were very friendly and the camp bathroom and shower facilities were exceptional.

Nice little place on a private ground - means you have to pay the entrance to visit it. But you not only pay the entrance for this place.
