Pakkhús Restaurant

Everything was so good. We especially enjoyed octopus, tuna steak, and chocolate brownie. YOU GOTTA TRY THE CHOCOLATE BROWNIE!! The staff members were also really kind, and the interior was also beautiful. We could enjoy different kinds of food at a reasonable price. Great!

Cozy spot and delicious food! Wonderful atmosphere and the best customer service on the Island! Everyone was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. Lots of tasty options on the menu. I highly recommend their langustine and a volcano dessert. There are also vegan/vegetarian options.
We had a wonderful evening and can recommend 100% Don't skip this place!

They have a waiting area downstairs, where you can get drinks from the bar and look at the menu. By the time you're seated you already know what you want😅

We had shrimps in garlic as starter but we didn't manage to take a photo! Too hungry and too delicious!

Great spot with friendly service. Relatively small menu food-wise, but everything we had was good. Portion sizes were medium.

My main course was the Pork & Duck. The portion of duck was surprisingly large, while the pork was surprisingly small. And the BBQ on the pork overpowered the meat a bit. But otherwise very tasty. The smoked char appetizer we had great smoky flavor. And the skyr volcano dessert was really fun.

We visited Pakkhús yesterday (10/12/23). As an appetizer, we had baked brie, which was fabulous! For mains we had vegetable pie and horse. The meat was very delicious! my congratulations to the Chef and the rest of the staff! to sum up, fabulous food and excellent service - so lovely to spend an evening at Pakkhús! -Daniela w/ Ali

We ordered fish soup and it was so awesome we had to have a long discussion with the chef on how we might get around to making it back home! The volcano cake is super delicious too.

If you are planning to or visiting Hofn, please do not forget include this place into your plan! Love the vibe, food and service crew. Would like to highlight the attitude of the service crews here! Friendly, approachable and very attentive! Tried their lobster and octopus. I guess i can never look at these dishes at the same way again! Super fresh and really tasty. Place is just next to a harbour so you can catch a small walk before or after the meal. Tourist friendly in case you wonder :) nowadays i really weighed the attitude of service crews over food quality whenever I am out for travelling :)

The best food in Iceland! We tried 1 starter, 4 different main dishes, 2 desserts and everything was excellent! And also drink - Pakkhús Tom Collins we liked a lot. The atmosphere was very nice, service was professional and really nice people there. We were really satisfied and we recommend this restaurant a lot.

I usually don’t write as many reviews as I should but I wanted to Highlight this Local Gem. I understand everyone has a different pallet when it comes to food and I was a little skeptical before I decided on Pakkhus. I met a local man on the plane flying into Iceland and asked him where I should eat when I get to Hofn. He mentioned Pakkhus and what a great recommendation. Eat where the locals eat right?? We were so fortunate to be able to come at the perfect time. The restaurant has been closed for the winter and the waitress just mentioned to us that it just reopened a few days ago. Talk about timing. Everything we had was delicious!!! I don’t think we left the crumbs on the plate. Must Try! Everything was so Fresh.

The food here is incredible. My husband and I ordered the garlic shrimp, octopus, and lobster soup for appetizers. For the entrees we ordered the lamb and cod. I will be dreaming about that lamb. I didn’t think I even liked lamb! We are already planning our next trip to Iceland and we will definitely return. We received excellent service, we didn’t have to wait to be seated and the restaurant itself is very cozy. After driving around the country in a camper van for days, this meal was exactly what we needed. I was worried about our attire (again, van-lifing around the country). We came in wearing our boots, snow pants, and our lopapeysas and no one batted an eye. 5 stars across the board. Do NOT miss Pakkhus if you find yourself in Höfn. As a matter of fact, go out of your way to get to Höfn to dine here!!

Truly was the best restaurant experience in Iceland out of many great restaurants but you cannot beat the service at this one! Lots of tasty options on the menu, including vegan/vegetarian. The desserts were so good we had to get two! I highly recommend the duck, veggie pie, brownie & volcano dessert. Wonderful atmosphere and the best customer service on the Island!

From the moment you taste the food, you will know the chef here knows what they are doing. Fresh and local food choices cooked to perfection. We ordered 4 starters, 3 entrees and a dessert. The wait was about an hour so be patient. It’s worth it. If you drink, get a beeper and get drinks down stairs. If not, the view outside in the harbor is stunning. Especially during the summer when the sun never sets.

If you haven’t tried everything on the menu, all are amazing in choices. I look forward to my next meal here. I highly recommend this for date night and small gatherings.

The food was super tasty. The 2 starters prawns and brie cheese you can share but you have to try it. Then we ordered langoustine which it was the tastiest dish, lobster which was ok, cod was aslso tasty, but the fish and chips was a no no unless you like oil - the fish suoer oily and the chips literally splashed oil when you bite it. Everything else was great: atmosphere, location, the staff very warm and helpful. We didn't book, but we had to wait 5-10 min until a table was free. It's in a harbour so the view is also beautiful. Very pricey place, but it's worth trying.

Seriously incredible seafood and great service! Will definitely eat here again on my next trip to Iceland.

Had a fantastic dinner here after days of disappointing food. Everything was fresh and delicious. Service was warm and attentive.

Very charming seaside restaurant. Make sure you dine upstairs! Very cute with views to the Harbour. Food was high quality and many of the dishes were quite good. The lamb brisket is a very decadent treat and the fish and chips are made with fresh cod.

Tasty and nicely served food, we had a Lamb Steak and Fish & Chips and the lamb was super soft and served with grilled vegetables while the fish and chips well prepared with a tasty side dip. The restaurant is cozy, located in Höfn in the port area.

These are one of the best dishes I have ever had in my life so far. Astonishing. Products are fresh as expected from restaurant located in harbour. Courses are composed precisely, proportions well balanced to outcome in best flavor experience. Staff is as well as professional as kind. Do not hesitate. 6 out of 5 stars.

Truly amazing, worth the wait, best cod I've had in Iceland and the lamb steak is melting in your mouth phenomenally tasty. Don't skip this place, no matter the wait. It Def moved faster than quoted. Skip the lobster soup, Def overrated and nothing special.

The food is delicious with local ingredients, the lobster dish and the langoustine soup are a must. The staff was very friendly and the location was also nice, with great views on the harbour.
