The site is simply breathtaking. Definitely worth a visit. The campsite is simple but nice. The kitchen is quite basic but has cookers, the bathrooms are very nice and newly renovated and the showers have very hot water which is great in a chilly evening. The site for tents is quite small and works on a first come first serve basis, so make sure to arrive before 20:30-21:00. The staff at the cafe is very nice and helpful. It's an excellent spot for birdwatching, and we even saw some seals! I definitely recommend this place.

Good place to stop. Friendly cafe. Simple warm sandwiches, waffles, muffins, coffee tea liquor. Inside the gated park (1,000 ISK) you access a black beach with a great view of the mountain. At high tide you get a reflection. Best if no wind. You can visit a Viking movieset from Netflix’s Witcher. Seals near the end (I didn’t go there). There’s plenty of parking and camper parking. There’s slightly limited tent camping though. 2500 ISK for both camping and park entrance. 600 ISK coffee :) Decent bathrooms. Clean hot shower. Two kitchen sinks and two hot plates. Equal facilities to Hofn but less crowded. Would come here for the more authentic experience 🍻

Wonderful camping place! The toilets and shower were clean, the only downside it’s that there isn’t a kitchen and a common area but you can enjoy a drink and delicious waffles at the cafe. Entrance for Stokksnes and Viking Village is included in the camping fee.
The lady from cafe was kind and friendly, she helped us with two tickets for the Stokksnes entrance so we can go in the evening and in the morning also because it was a heavy storm when we got there and she told us we might not get to visit in the evening. In spite of the storm, we felt safe in the parking lot over there.
Would totally recommend spending the night in this amazing place and visit the arounds during your stay.

We arrived the campsite at night and pay the camp fee in the morning. The fee includes hot shower and also entry to the Viking Village and also the black sand beach with stunning view of the mountain. No washing machine or cooking area available, no complain here.

The facility is clean and well maintained.

This is a good place to see Northern Light. No city light on the North and have Vestrahorn mountain for background

Breakfast at Viking Cafe was nice. Love their waffle with cappuccino.

Another good point is this campsite is open all year round.

More like a parking area with good facilities. I think the cleanest / biggest / newest toilet and shower I have seen on a camping up until now. The viking cafe was also nice, good coffee and the hot chocolate was really really good. Area is a big plus, nice black beach and a nice mountain view. Weather sucked in the beginning but was better after a few hours

I really enjoyed the location of this campsite and the fact that in the morning you can have a very nice breakfast with a beautiful view ( coffee, hot chocolate, waffled...). The shower and toilets are very clean and confortable( in the way that you have enough room in the shower to change in private and also the sink, toilets are in the inside of a cabin so no brushing teeths in the wind). The price - 2500isk included the visit on site of the viking village (film set I think)and a very beautiful beach.

I think we all know why we're camping here. The access to Stokksnes is great! You get gate access with your camping fee. But just once. So we drove in at sunset and stayed to watch the Aurora. Then returned to the camp ground for bed. The 2 showers and WCs are really clean and new. It was great to have a waffle and a cappuccino in the Viking Cafe on site as well! The old Viking film set was really cool too!

Not sure what the negative reviews are about. You pay 2000ISK per person to camp, hot private showers, free wifi, and access to private land with some of the best views in the South Coast. Loved it!

Too expensive? You paid to fly to a tiny island in the middle of the Atlantic and paid $8/gallon of gas to get there. No kitchen facilities? It’s run by a family, not the national park service. Because it rained (like it does everyday), you couldn’t eat your meal outside? You knew the weather was unpredictable, you should have payed a little more for a Campervan with a kitchenette inside so the weather didn’t matter. Was the cafe to expensive? You’re in the middle of the Atlantic, where they don’t grow coffee, and it’s run by a small family business. And you’re in Iceland - things are expensive!!!!

Nice campsite to spend the night with other travellers. Owner was nice and friendly - gave me an extra ticket to the viking village so I can visit the beach next morning. Got some great view of the northern light as well:)

Nice campsite near Hofn with a lot of parking space
- 2 hot showers, 3 bathrooms, no issues with availabilities, clean
- Viking café on site with possibility to have breakfast
- Viking village visit included in the price (25K ISK/pers for 1 night) when we visited
- Small outside cooking area with electric stove x2

Would recommand especially on warm days, the view is stunning!

A nice place to stop between East Fjords and Vik. We stayed here just overnight, and had no complaints. The campsite is not much other than a parking spot, but it had electricity, clean toilets and hot water. There were showers, but we didn't use, so I can't comment on that. Admissions to the Viking village and Vestrahorn view points were included when you camp here. The lady at the cafe gave us 2 admission tickets, once to use when we arrived in the evening, and the other one to use in the next morning.

Hot showers and toilets onsite. The campsite is basically the parking lot of the cafe. Fee includes entrance ticket to the viking village and surrounding sites.

This campsite had free and good private showers and clean toilets. There was also a little shed which had sinks and induction stove tops to use. The fee for the campsite also included the ticket price for the Viking village.

I quite liked this campsite. Showers are clean, toilets as well. If there's a kitchen we didn't see it. The host was really nice, and owns the little cafe where you do the check-in. It is 2000 ISK per person and night with a campervan.
With the check in they give you access to the Vestrahorn beach and the Viking village.
Views are quite cool to wake up to.

Absolutely gorgeous place. The price is well worth it, especially to have access to the park as well. The front desk was friendly, the campsite was extremely well maintained. Facilities were nice. Has all the basic necessities you need to camp. Be prepared for close quarters camping, so have to be a little more quiet that you may otherwise- however- it is all in camping/camper van life, no one was too loud, everyone was respectful. A fantastic view to wake up to as well. My favourite spot by far.

We didn't camp but just visited for photography. However, it is a stunning location and a fantastic view. The toilets and showers were clean and well appointed

5 stars because we loved the clean bathrooms and that showers are included in the camping price so you don’t need any coins. There is also a cute Viking cafe on the campground where we had nice coffee in the morning. Price also includes access to nearby viking village and view of storknes. Current price 2500/person per night, including hot showers, so very worth it to us.
