I really enjoyed this small zoo! Its half animals exhibits and half children’s playground in the back but a lot of the playground was closed for the season. I was only there to see iconic animals of Iceland up close and I was happy! The enclosures are smaller than in the US and the zoo in general is very small- but exhibits were very clean; Its not a full blown “zoo” like in the US. Lots of friendly farm animals with Reindeer, seals, a mink, and foxes to also see. There was also a small indoor room to see a few reptiles, amphibians, and inverts- possibly a sanctuary for exotic pets. It was a great place to see foxes and Icelandic horses up close in the capital! No puffins or other rare birds but they do have some birds & chickens. The tickets weren’t expensive and IMO it was worth it to see the cute foxes. It would be a great place for children and great for people who really want to see an arctic fox or seal! The foxes were my personal favorite because you can see them play outdoors or go inside a toasty warm shed what displays part of their den- we saw a fox still sleeping inside!

As far as parking goes we parked at the ice rink which we were informed was free :)

This is more of a farm rather than a zoo so don't let the name guide your expectations
I spent a few days visiting the playground here and this was a toddler paradise. He had so much fun with the slides the sand the trampoline and the construction toys he wanted to go everyday we were in town. Highly recommend for toddlers to enjoy the park.

Great to see the animals so well-looked-after in winter barns.

We go there regularly. Great place for families. A lot of animals like horses, cows, reindeer and much more. Plus full of interesting spots playground.
The best idea is to take blankets, food for grill- yes there is few free barbecues- and spend there few hours 😀

By no means a small zoo! It is an amazing zoo and would be charged a fortune in any other country! Yes it was fairly quiet when we went due to the amount of snow and time of year. Did not hinder spirits and that of the animals who enjoyed the glorious winter weather!

We loved the park and zoo! The zoo is not so large, but the park behind it is quite impressive. There were a lot of fun features and activities for kids which were like no other park I have taken my son to. If you're limited on time, this may not be a "must-see", but if you're looking for something to do in the afternoon/ morning, I would recommend it. There is a beautiful garden right next to it also!

Very nice place, the kids enjoyed it very much. The zoo is big and the animals seems to be well taking care. At the other side of the zoo there's a big botanical garden and a play ground.

Calling it a zoo is borderline but still lots of animals to see that you don't usually come across. Especially the caribou, arctic foxes, and seals. Also has a variety of birds, reptiles and grazing animals.

Such a nice and relaxing place for kids. On a Wednesday in Feb the theme park is closed, but the animal farm is open and free to enter.
Great selection of farm animals, reptiles and insects, and arctic foxes and minks.

Cute little zoo with animals from iceland + some exotic ones. We could pet farm animals, so cool.

Went during a winter storm but luckily all the animals were inside so we could still enjoy seeing them in shelter. Due to the weather, there were not many people which is a bonus. Pleasantly surprised upon entering to find out that it is free entry on weekdays. Animals look very well looked after 😊

Visited in January 2020. Entrance was included in the Reykjavík City Card. This is a small zoo but we spent roughly 2.5 hours there, mostly watching the feeding of the animals. Certain paths in the zoo were slippery because of the snow.

Great walking area with easy marked trails for getting out in woods (not so common in Iceland). Playground is on the short green trail.

Great place to bring kids. The first portion of the park contains mostly farm animals, or rescued animals from the nature of Iceland (with the stated objective to reintroduce them into nature when they're ready). There's plenty of different animals to see, ranging from ducks and chickens to reindeer and horses.
The second portion of the park contains large playgrounds, small bumper-boats, amusement park rides (smaller ones, no roller coasters AFAIK), bouncy cushions etc. All of the rides are free once you've paid entry, and are manned by nice Iceland youths, who speak very good English.

We paid 3000ISK for 2 grown ups, and brought our 5 year old free of charge. She had a blast, and we were very happy with our visit!

It's really well done for adults also. There are playground ds area, cars for kids with educative informations for the future drivers, animals and nature. You can buy hot dogs to cook in the public barbecues. Good experience
