Café Riis Hólmavík - Restaurant - Pizzeria & Bar

What an idyllic lovely place! The food was delicious, a lot of variety to choose from! The deconstructed cheesecake came in many variations and tasted super good!
Had a lovely chat with the waiter throughout on the history of the cafe and the area!

A superb place. Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted by a nice gentleman. I later found out that he was the owner’s father, Atli. I’m pescatarian so he recommended me dishes that were seafood based. There were many choices and everything seemed delicious. I wanted to start with an appetizer and then a main. What I liked about the service was that Atli knew which appetizer paired well with the main. I went with the seafood soup paired with lobster tail pizza. It was amazing. The seafood in the soup was generous. Everything was very well cooked and not dry👍 the pizza was also very well made with a generous serving of the lobster. If there’s only one reason for me to come back to Hólmavík, it would definitely be for this place. A gem tucked in a quaint town. I also appreciate that Atli took his time to share about the history of the restaurant (the building was built in 1897) and Icelandic people. Very friendly, informative and never once rushed me. I think I spent nearly 2 hours in the restaurant just by myself😊 After my big meal I had to close it with a desert of a serving of a cake and a scoop of coconut ice cream👍 Overall, I left the place well nourished, more informed about Iceland and more respect for the locals. Thank you Atli and team for such a great service and amazing food. I’ll be back!

Top class place., greeted by great owner? Not sure but he was very friendly and helpful to us. We were dashing to airport from way up north and he was very quick in taking order. , food was great and prompt service. Tasty local beer. Will be back some day. 🇮🇸🇮🇪👌🙏

We from France, and we never eaten something like this before , the baccala (crispy fish) this more than 10/10 ! Insane meat !! Salad Salmon and Shrimp really good ,generous made with love ! Local beer so nice too .

Stopped in this place on a road trip up to the Westfjords. Very friendly staff and owner. Food is fantastic. I recommend the smoked salmon and shrimp salad. Very filling, especially for a salad. They used to have a basil and tonic drink that was excellent. It's a brief jaunt off of Route 61, so it's well worth the diversion.

Lovely place to eat and rest. It is one of the oldest house in Hólmavík and the interior is really comfy. The personal was really friendly and attentive.
The food though was the highlight. The ingredients are mostly local and all is cooked fresh and the plates were beautifully arranged.
And it was just delicious. Especially the "skyr cake" (skyrkaka).

The cakes the pizza 10/10 such delicious and very well done super warm and flavored food , very well presented and great taste , serving great and delivery right on time , it deserved at the price and 5 star compared to the rest on Iceland .

The food is just simply amazing. I go regularly to this place when I'm around and I love the food and the people.
If you don't try the chocolate cake with ice cream you definitely miss parts of Iceland.

Lovely place with great and inviting service. The food is delicious. Had the cod chins, which are their signature dish - it's very tasty. My friend had the lamb chops and she was very happy with them as well. If you're in the area, a must try. :)

The best fish soup I've ever had in Iceland! And I've tasted it all over Iceland - well, this is the top one. Also I love their lobster tail pizza! Don not miss this place when you are in Hólmavík ♥ Oh, and very nice staff. 👍🏻

More than a pizzeria. We had delicious fish soup. Cod chins (tender neck pieces of Cod) and fish and chips. Also lamb available. Make a reservation if you want a seat....Ate there the second night of our stay and had a great meat livers pizza. The 16" was more than my wife and I could finish, so we took some away.

Cute little place... awesome food... had the king prawns starter and lobster pizza... both were amazing...

Amazing pizza & fish soup. Nice place for a bite. Coffee is a bit average but the service & atmosphere make up for it. If you're hungry & nearby, don't hesitate to stop here.

We had to stop in Hólmavik due to tire puncture on our car. The owners of Café Riis were incredibly kind and even opened for us one hour before opening hours and they wanted to help us with everything. ❤ We had pizzas and it was just delicious! Everything fresh. Together with a good draft beer it all made a great experience for us. Thank you! 😊

I will be dreaming of the lamb filet and lobster tail pizza we had here for the rest of my life! Everything was super tasty and our server was super nice! It's definitely a place to stop!

Had one of the best meals on our Iceland trip. The pleasant host’s and cozy ambiance added value the sumptuous pizzas we had.
Would recommend Andrea’s pizza and margarita pizza for vegetarian options.
