The best food we had while in Reykjavik. Cozy and relaxed atmosphere, service was excellent. Cocktails were finely crafted and delicious. Bee’s Knees especially. Absolutely coming back next time I’m in town.

Couldn’t have asked for a more delicious meal on our final night in Iceland. Reserved via instagram message, it was super easy and quick. Ordered the beef tenderloin, sushi, ravioli, and vegan gnocchi. All amazing. Stand out was the vegan sushi, super impressive what the chef did with watermelon to make it more “sushi-like”. Our server was very fun as well. Highly recommend!

We had a delicious dinner at Hosiló! Definitely one of our favorite places in Reykjavik. The space is cozy and perfect for a date night. You can make a reservation through their Instagram by sending a message. The espresso martini was excellent and the service was wonderful!
We tried:
🐟 Scallop Ceviche (so fresh, and they were kind enough to split the ceviche on two plates for us)
🍖 Boeuf Bourgogne - fork tender and full of flavor!

Hands down the best dining experience I had in Reykjavik.
A few of the restaurants I checked out in Reykjavik were unbearably salty and/or gamey and we had to leave after a few bites of the $40+/person meal (could be due to our taste as tourists differing that of the locals), but the food at Hosiló just blew our minds. It was not only edible but every bite was a joyful discovery.
We ordered Lamb Tartare as appetizer, Grilled Portobello Mushroom, and Grilled Cod. Then Lamb Tartare was by far my favorite dish. The raw lamb meat had its unique taste without being annoyingly gamey. The anchovys and fresh lemon squeeze made the dish refreshing, balanced well with the rich mayo based sauce (I'm guessing). The crusty yet chewy croutons made the texture of each bite all the more interesting, and even the parsley sprinkled on top were fresh and delightfully fragrant.
Grilled Portobello Mushroom actually had a few different types of mushrooms in the dish. Instead of overpowering the mushroom with spice and sauce, the dish let the flavors of its ingredients stand out, which I appreciated.
The Grilled Cod dish was also amazing. It was cooked just right, not too melty or rubbery. The broccoli, beets, and hand made potato chips added to the dish unexpectedly made good companions for the fish, adding different layers of sweet, savory, and crunchy to each bite. I had absolute fun trying out different combinations throughout my meal. Was too full to try desserts but no doubt the fig pudding would have been excellent too.
The decor was cozy, with lots of plants placed throughout the space. Loved the ambient music selections, that didn't interfere with the dining experience in any way (really not a fan of loud music when eating). Also, would like to point out that some of the older negative reviews here that made us hesitant to visit Hosiló are either unwarranted or no longer relevant. Totally forgot to take a picture of the menu, but there were 3-4 options each for appetizer, entre, and dessert, and had both English and Icelandic versions of the menu. The menu descriptions were straightforward, and we had no issues communicating with the staff, who were all very cordial and made the dining experience a good balance of private and supportive.

A well kept secret in Iceland. Recommended to us by a local. Not busy, but full of locals. Great food and good drinks. Menu is small but everything is well executed, and sometimes that's nicer than a crazy long menu with subpar food.

I really debated whether or not I should write a review. On the one hand, this restaurant deserves all the praise as the best meal I've had on Iceland. On the other, it seems this place is relatively hidden and maybe I should keep it that way. In the end, decided to write this review in the hopes that it gets popular and still survives for the next time I return to Iceland.
Had the chance to try the lamb tartar, portobello bourginon, and cod filler. Each one was cooked perfectly and felt unique in its use of ingredients. The service here was friendly and quick, and the decor and atmosphere was relaxing and hip. This trip has frankly not been great for food, but this place really made my last meal that much more memorable

Seems like a well hidden secret with all locals eating there. The good was amazing and the space was intimate. That peach and serrano ham appetizer was mind-blowing 😉

A unique and delightful place, kind of a hole in the wall; looks like a favorite amongst locals. We enjoyed the vivid flavor combinations. They change the menu each week. The dishes are on the smaller side, but it was worth it.
