Kontiki Kayak Tours

Such a fun new experience! Our guide was super nice and patient and even got some photos of us. We were also lucky enough to spot some puffins in the distance. This is a must in Stykkishólmur!

It was really great adventure :) We have visited old ship wreck and puffins island. The guide was really nice and he told us few interesting stories. They are providing waterproof clothes.

We spontaneously booked a kayaking tour with Kristian for the same day, and it was definitely a good idea 🙂
We arrived at the Kontiki Homebase, which is easy to find in Stykkisholmur, Kristian equipped us with all the necessary gear like dry suit and life west, and we went for a short drive to a harbour close by. After safety and kayaking instructions, we entered the sea. On the tour we saw a bunch of birds, also puffins, and Kristian explained the wildlife and other stuff. He was a great guide, patient, skilled and always helpful. He also took some fotos during the trip, which was really nice.

Would absolutely recommend a kayaking tour with Kontiki Kayaking! Kristian also offers longer trips on request, if you want to spend more time on the water around Stykkisholmur.

Fantastic paddling tour from Stykkishólmur. Suitble for any active person. Lots of sea birds, views of
the picturesq town and the snow capped mountains of the Snæfellsnes peninsula. We even saw a beached fishing boat and the Snæfellsnes glacier! Recommended!

Awesome experience. The shipwreck is the difference maker on this excursion. Felt safe, comfortable, and warm all while getting in a good bit of adventure.
Easy detour from the Ring Road.

We went on a tour with Kontiki Kayaks in early July 2018, and we had the best time. We arrived at the base and were outfitted with spray skirts, warm/waterproof coats and lifejackets. I also wore gloves, a hat and sunglasses. We made the short drive over to the harbor where we got instructions on how to use the kayaks, as well as safety information. And then we were off! As we were going around the islands our guide, Kristjan, told us some history of Stykkisholmur as well as about the wildlife we were seeing. We saw many different bird species including seagulls, artic turns and puffins, as well as jelly fish and even a seal bobbing through the bay. he last stop was paddling over near a shipwreck which was a very cool way to end the trip.

I definitely recommend a trip up to Stykkisholmur and a trip kayaking with Kontiki Kayaks. The surrounding area is beautiful, the town is wonderful and kayaking was amazing.

So cool!! Kristian was such a great guide. He was patient with my slow pace and was so informative about what we were seeing around the area. Would definitely do this again!

Our group had a great time kayaking, saw an old stranded trawler and a huge group of puffins. Our guide, Kristján, was a lot of fun and took good care of us. Highly recommend.

Kristjan was a great guide. He was quick at spotting what we wanted to see, he made a sound estimate of our kayaking capabilities and he left us room to enjoy nature while having answers ready when ever we asked. Definitely worth your time!

We had an amazing tour with Kristján. He took us to see an old stranded trawler, some beautiful islands and birds. We even saw a seal pop its head out of the water. Kristján was super nice and understanding. 10/10 would kayak again.
