Phones, smart watches, battery car keys, bags and cosmetics aren’t allowed inside. I saw the guard allow a lady to carry a small clutch-type leather wallet.

There’s a small shop close to the entrance (prominent, you can’t miss it) which keeps your stuff that’s not allowed inside.

The interviewing officers are patient and polite and they talk very calmly and slowly so you can understand them easily.

Nice experience. They are friendly good and well behaved. I came here for c1d visa. Please go in advance. You can keep your belongings in nearest rest stall at nominal charge of 100 rs. There is food stalls nearby you can eat there. All the best 👍

Smooth process for visa interview.
Location is really good.

One can get passport photo at New Bombay photo studio which is 2 mins walking from consulate. They charge INR 200 for 4 photos.

People can stay around near by hotel, The Grand Oberoi is a good one where I stayed.

There is a nearby store that can hold your bag (INR 100) and phone (INR 50).

Barbecue nation is nearby restaurant for lunch/dinner.

The place is well located. You can park your vehicle in metro plaza or other roads nearby.If you carry phone and bag you can keep them in a small shop at a payment of Rs.50 The shop opens early morning.The shop keeper will give you a token also.The consulate office is very professionally managed. Security personnel are local people and very helpful. Be there at least half an hour before. The visa officer will communicate through small windows. Main questions they ask are why are you going and duration of stay. Who has funded for your ticket? If you happen to have your son/daughter they will ask whether there is any other sibling and what does he or she do. Whether you have visited any other countries. Interview process is smooth and nothing to get nervous of if you have genuine purpose.

Swift and efficient. I went for J1 visa. My appointment was at 9:30, I reached at 8:45 and was asked to enter. And made to stand in a queue which took hardly 20 mins to reach the visa officer. He asked just a few questions, what is the reason, how many years I plan to stay, how much money I will get and future plans. Then said your visa is approved, stamped my ds2019 and said to collect it after a few days.

All the staff were very polite and process was very smooth and professional. Crowd is very less comparing it with other consulates in India. Overall had a very good experience visiting Kolkata's Consulate.

Mobile, bag, wallet etc are not allowed inside. Belt is allowed but avoid if possible.
They allowed entry 30 mins before slot. Queue was formed in waiting room where they checked passport, DS 160 conf page and sevis payment page. Here waiting time was 1.5 hrs standing. Vi was in separate room. Two counters were there for F1 vi.

Smooth process. Went for my visa interview here. Only the waiting time is a bit long. be prepared to stay for 1.5-2 hrs if you have an interview.

Went for passport renewal. Smooth and fast. No hassle faced. Officers are polite and approachable. Mobile or any electronic gadget is not allowed inside.

However since smartphone (rather anything smart or electronic) is not allowed inside .. it would have been great if there was some sort of storage available outside the consulate! Otherwise no complaints!

Very professional. Don’t go too early there. They won’t even let you in. Go 15-30 min before your time. That is plenty enough. Nothing is allowed inside except your passport and paperwork in a clear transparent folder. If you carry anything else then you can leave them at a shop nearby for a small money. Go in, get verified and wait for interview. No need for tension or stress. The interviewer just want to know your reasons and if it sounds genuine. Quick process. Everything should be over within 20-30 min. Then go home and celebrate.

No parking or bystander allowed infront of the building. Strict security.

Stream line process for kids passport renewal. We reached there 1 hours before appointment so they asked me to come about 10 to 15 mins early. No mobile electronics item allowed except the small purse, normal key, and paper documents. There is a tea shop out side it that keeps bag (Rs100) or mobile (Rs50) for a fee and give you token.

It was a nice experience over there. I went there for my US C1D VISA for first time. It got approved after few questions in interview. The security check standard is very good. First the security will tell you to take out your documents and wait in the line for your turn to get in. Then a full security check inside. After that go to the waiting room they will check few documents and wait inside for your turn for interview. After that go to interview room all foreigners will be there to take your interview but are quite helpful people there. Outside one tea stall is there to keep your bag and phone he charges Rs 100 for it. Hope this review will help many fresher applicants out here.

Reach the embassy before 1hr. Security officers divides based on interview time.
They will allow 3-4 members inside once at a time. Once you enter the office there will be security check where we will be even asked to remove the belt. Once checkup is done they will allow us to enter waiting room. Water is provided here. It might take max 15mins to enter the interview room while waiting here. Once entered there will 4-5 interviewers in each cabin. Prepare for the below questions:
1) Why US?
2) Why particular university when there are 4000 universities in US?
3) if you are experienced they will ask you about the project you are working on and asks us if there is any relationship between the work and course you are taking.
4) if you are fresher prepare for undergraduate project.

•There are no lockers inside they will not allow even the mobile phones better to keep them at hotel. There are few shops near by where they will charge for the luggage. But I suggest to keep baggage and mobiles at hotel itself.
•Carry umbrella.

Swift procedure. But the service is mostly first come first serve basis. I have visited the place for my J1 Visa interview. My slot was at 10.00 am but I went inside half an hour ago and completed the procedure within 15 minutes. First you have to wait in line outside the consulate then the security personel check your name on their list and verify your face with passport. Then you have to go inside and pass through an scanner. No electronic device is permitted inside the consulate thus either don't carry any such devices or you have to submit those at outside tea stall which is his side business. After scanning wait at the waiting room where a person will check your documents. Then you will be asked to the interview counter. In my case the interviewer asked me total 5 questions related to my work and future plan then said my visa is approved with a smile. Nice experience. As photography was prohibited at the place thus couldn't take any pictures.

Had a smooth experience. Very systematic and organized plc. Staffs are helpful. Reach hlf n hr before time and co-operate wid staff for hassle free experience.
Things to remember:
Better to take cab or public transport to reach here, as finding parking spot could be a hassle.
Bring documents in transparent folders, staffs help to organise dem.
Baggage n mobiles can be deposited outside the consulate in small shop for a nominal fee.
Wheelchairs and seats are available inside the consulate.
Don't hesitate to ask for a translator

Everything is well organised with a lot of security. The security gaurds are well aware of the process and make sure that there isn't a crowd building up. Pickup and drop is strictly prohibited in front of the consulate and has to be done a little ahead.

Inside the waiting hall is uniquely designed. The overall service was extremely professional by the vfs team and the officers and ensured that no one's time is wasted in the process.
