Located near Dalhousie square of Central Kolkata, this Presbyterian church was established in 1818. The church is well maintained by the Church Union of North India.

A beautifully maintained, well decorated church, situated amidst the most viable route of the city.
Thus, it is very convenient for the visitors to have a glance.
Sundays, morning at 10, the church organises regular weekly prayer. So, take a note of the time.

This Presbyterian church is a landmark building of central kolkata. Situated in the north east corner of 'Laldighi '(erstwhile Dalhousie square),St. Andrew's church was built in the year of 1818. The then ruler of India, East India Company under Governor General lord Moira funded rupees one lakh to its foundation. Initially the church was under the influence of the church of Scotland . Several decades later in 1970 , it joined the union of church of North India ( CNI ).

You can say that St. Andrew’s Church is the kind of Colonial Church and it stands on the North East part of the Dalhousie Square. This Scottish Kirk was being established in the ancient Grecian style and you can call it to be the first landmark that you can see when travelling from Bowbazar to Dalhousie. This is the Lord Jesus Church and it is located in the area of Taltala and this is one of the perfect places to visit in the city of Kolkata. Before, this was known as the Church of the Scotland Presbyterian. This place of worship was given to the Jesuits in 1969. The church is the centre of various apostolic activities.

A beautiful church of early eighteen hundreds has a white facade with an inspiring spire. The church is located in a major junction of the city adjacent to the 'Writers Building'. It has imposing pillars at the entrance - both in the front and the backsides. Church offices are located at the entrance.
The church has an elevated pulpit and a semi circular seating arrangement built using classic ebony wood. The pew chairs have woven seats. It has a semicircular balcony for patrons. Its walls bear a number of plaques and plates of marble and stone put up for dedication and remembrance. One such plaque has been put up by Calcutta Police on the first Police Commemoration Day. It has lots of stories to tell for the coming generations.

This church gives you a feeling of early Raj era Calcutta. When the Governor General will ride down the road with his wife by the side. But then there was not much of traffic and his carriage would have taken him to the steps of this beautiful church. When the metro tunnel was being dug recently it was feared that it may crash. But enough precautions were taken and the church benefitted from the repairs done to stabilise the structure. Great place to visit any time.
