What a mesmerizing experience at James Princep Ghat! I couldn't resist capturing the beauty of this place through my lens. As soon as I arrived, I was captivated by the serene atmosphere and the picturesque view of the Ganga River.

Sitting at the bank of the river, I was in awe of the magnificent Vidyasagar Setu framed perfectly against the setting sun. It was truly a sight to behold, with the colors of the sky painting a breathtaking backdrop for the iconic bridge. And if that wasn't enough, in the distance, the marvelous Howrah Bridge added to the charm of the scenery.

The Princep Ghat offers a perfect blend of tranquility and grandeur, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and sightseeing. Whether you're a local or a tourist, this place is a must-visit in Kolkata. I can't wait to visit again and experience the magic of James Princep Ghat all over again!

Located on the banks of the Hooghly river, Princep Ghat is a majestic structure noted for its Gothic inlays. With a mesmeric backdrop of Howrah Bridge, the ghat is an ideal place to catch splendid views of sunsets and sunrises. Gaze in awe as the burning orb of the sun sinks down the horizon or peeks above it, painting the sky in myriad shades of red and orange. Tourists can stroll along the serene bank of the river and enjoy a moment of quiet as the cool breezes plays with their hair. Built in the memory of James Princep (1799 - 1840), a British Indologist, who served as the Secretary of the Asiatic Society, Princep Ghat is currently used as a venue for several cultural festivals. Its gardens are an idyllic spot to relax in natural beauty. Small boats are available for hire for short trips on the river. Short river cruises are possible on traditional wooden boats as well as speedboats. It's well-designed lighting makes the ghat stand out in the evenings.

A very beautiful place to visit in the city. It's most pretty during sunset when the mesmerizing Vidyasaagar Setu crisscrosses over it through pink sky.
Generally a hotshot couple spot but it gets very crowded during holidays, precisely during Christmas week and New Year's.

it is a beautiful place to visit anytime either sunset or sunrise. The water is so calm and the view of the bridges on both sides is mesmerising. Also, enjoy the boat ride for 30 minutes in the evening. The cost is 400/- for a maximum of five people. Although there is not entry fee to the ghat. There are small eateries where you can also savour Kolkata chat and a cup of tea. Free toilet facilities are available. Its a long path along Hooghly river. One can enjoy walking or jogging and feel the cool breeze. Must recommend if you are in Kolkata. I got a very little time to spend there. If got chance, spend couple of hours. Dont think its for only couple, as you may see more of them, but singles can enjoy being SINGLE too..hahhaha.
How to reach: bus/cab/train are easily available.

Princep Ghat is one of the most popular places in Kolkata and the history of British India is associated with it, You will find a white monument on this ghat this monument was built in the memory of the world’s famous Historian and scholar James Prinsep after his death in 1841 and it is surrounded by a beautiful garden, Princep ghat on the banks of the Hooghly River is very popular among the people of Kolkata.

Many people come here to know the history of the place and many people come here to feel in the beautiful scenic environment, and also some people come here for a picnic with their family, Princep Ghat is one of the oldest and most historical spots in Kolkata.

Princep Ghat is located between the Water Gate and St. George’s Gate of Fort William beside the Hooghly River. The monument is one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Kolkata. It might seem that Princep Ghat was not a proper ghat as it is located some distance away from the river. But earlier, there were some stone steps leading to the river. With time, the river has receded and the stone stairs are perhaps buried under the earth.

Overall my experience is mesmerizing & beautiful spot to spend time with family & friends. It's totally free no entry fee required. Best time to visit during winter days & during the sunset time.
