The Sacred Heart Basilica is a beautiful Gothic-style Catholic church located in Puducherry, India. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city, and for good reason. The church is simply stunning, with stained-glass windows, a vaulted ceiling, and a peaceful setting.

I was particularly impressed by the stained-glass windows, which depict scenes from the Bible. The colors are so vibrant and the detail is incredible. I spent a good long time just looking at them and trying to take it all in.

The church is also very peaceful. Even though it was a bit crowded when I visited, it was still a very calming place to be. I would definitely recommend taking some time to sit and reflect in the quiet of the church.

Beautiful place. A little different architecture than other cathedrals. While you can visit the place anytime during the day, it's quite lively during the mass time. Premises has quite some space and you will find things peaceful in there. As you come out of the premises, on turning to left side there are a couple of good tea shops and a little bakery which is worth exploring if you want a quick snack

It's in walkable distance from Pondicherry railway station. Serene atmosphere. Very beautiful architecture.The colorful reflection on the wall by the morning sunlight through the colorful window-glasses was really heavenly to watch.
There's also public toilet available with a charge of 10rs per person.

One of the oldest churches in town , constructed in the year 1907. This is located near the railway station. This church should be in places to visit list when you are in Pondicherry. You will architectural design and glass works showing the life events of lord Jesus Christ. Highly recommended place to visit in Pondicherry.

Very peaceful place. Great architecture and well maintained. There's less to no crowd and also ample parking space outside the cathedral making the visit better and easier.

One of the best experiences I ever had. Went there at the time of prayer and it was mesmerising. The interiors are wonderful and it’s really close to the railway station, so you can visit this either when reaching to Pondicherry via train or before boarding the train from Pondicherry.

It is one of the biggest churches in Pondicherry. Very peaceful and heart touching choirs were performed that evening when I visited.

There was a mass prayer going on when we visited this church. The church is beautiful and the echo of the hymns were soothing to the ears. I enjoyed my visit here

Dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, this Gothic styled basilica has 100 years old history which was marked by a special postal stamp and postal envelope released to celebrate the centenary year. The Sacred Heart Church, Pondicherry is located in the southern boulevard of the Union Territory and is one of the most visited Christian pilgrimage spots. The rare stained glass panels that depict some episodes from the life of Jesus Christ and saints of Catholic church are the main attractions of the church. New additions have been made since the 1960s, which include the Grotto for Our Lady of Lourdes, Parish Hall, Adoration chapel and a community hall. One can see the Papal Decree of Elevation to Minor Basilica is inscribed in Latin and English above the stoup at the main entrance. The beautiful church has chandeliers on the inside and statues of evangelists, describing their lives, have been erected outside.
