Srimath Guru Sithanandha Temple
Temple History of this temple goes like this: Shreemath Guru Sithananda Swamigal is Vandipalayam, Cuddallore. From his childhood, Swamigal served in Padaleeswarar Temple in Thirupapuliyur. Later he came to Pondicherry on the request of Muthukumarasamy Pillai to bless his wife Tmt. Annammal Pillai as she has been suffering from prolonged decease. After Swamigal’s bleeings, Annamal recovers completely. As this miracle spread around, people from all sects came to seek Swamigal’s blessings. Guru Sithananda Swamigal later announces his jeeva samathi on 28th May 1837. Later, a lingam was installed on top of his jeeva samadhi. A meditation hall is also built inside the temple premises. You can’t stop noticing Barathiar’s statue when entering the temple. Yes, the poet was attracted by the temple when he was spending his time in his exile during the independence movement. His spent his time in this temple since it had lots of trees, which famously came to know as kuyil(cuckoo) thoppu in later period. The place has so much inspired Barathyar, he wrote Kuyil Paatu(song). In his Kuyil Pattu, Bharathiyar describes this place as it had full of mango trees and cuckoos. He called the well situated in this temple as ‘Jnanakeni, the well of wisdom. Even he mentions this temple in his poem. Another significance of this temple is the bell. It was built in France and later installed in the temple. You can see the sculpture of Shreemath Guru Sithananda Swamigal on the bell. There are separate sannidhi for Guru Datchnamoorthy, Pillayar and even for Lord Ayyapan.

This is on the ECR near Shivaji statue ....Great vibes in this temple primarily dedicated to Lord Shiva!...there are smaller shrines for Ganesha, Dakshinamurthy, & Ayyappa. There is a meditation hall...a pond. The highlight is the beautiful figurines of various saints/Siddha's installed in various places in the walls. Sidhananda swami is supposed to have lived here and achieved Samadhi! ..the famous tamil poet Bharathiyar has sung in & on this temple. There is a beautiful & majestic Banyan tree in the premises!

If you want to meet Lord Siva and have to meet a siddha, then i would prefer this temple. A temple with lot of spiritual vibrations, blessings and strength. But hey, i am warning you to not go to this place in an auspicious religious day. If you are strong enough to hold a vibration where at least 5 women gets into a stage called trance then, you can take a shot to visit this temple.

While I was on my way to my husband's native, I heard a sound of a tyre being punctured, so I asked my husband to stop the car. He happened to stop the car at the entrance of this temple 😯 I got a weird feeling as if the temple itself wants us to come inside. After some minutes, I found myself with a archanai thattu with my husband and my 6 months old son 🙂🙂 There the temple priest made my son wear a garland of flowers which was worn by SHIVAN himself. 🤩 SHIVAYA NAMA 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
