As a parent, I'm completely satisfied with my girl's progress. We are a non speaking french family, was looking for a proper international school. The syllabus is very child friendly, the teaching makes the kids to understand and learn, instead of byhearting. Kudos to the teachers who helped my daughter to speak french fluently like a native speaker. The exposure and the community behind the school gives the best inter personal skill what we wanted for our Daughter. Last but not least we get the best of Europe at the comfort of our home.

One of the best schools in Pondicherry parents can look out to enroll the kids to experience the best of both the predominant cultures . There are many unique aspects which makes this school the first choice for parents who prefer their child to have a joyful learning.
The teacher student ratio is too less enabling care is given to each child , the pedagogy more suitable for the kids because practical aspects of understanding a subject is focussed on.
More than any of the advantages , the kids going to school with great excitement and joy is what a parent needs. And I notice this with not just my kid but all her schoolmates.
Having more options in the later classes to choose the medium of education makes the French school a suitable choice for Indian parents as well..The highlight I would say is this aspect which prepares a kid for higher studies in India and abroad.
The extra curriculars - sports, swimming , music being integrated in the timetable let's the kids explore their area of interest too.
A thorough research of each and every school in pondy finally made us choose this , happy for all the parents here and a big thanks to the administration and the teachers who make learning a great experience 🙏

We are so happy with the school! We moved from Bangalore so that our son could join the Lycée. It was a big decision for us - shifting house, work - but it's one of the best decisions we've made so far. We have been so impressed by the commitment and hard work of the teachers at the school. And they make so much effort to become familiar with each student's needs and interests, scheduling classes and activities specific to the child's needs. The child is indeed at the centre of the system. After every 7 weeks a child gets 2 weeks off, every Wednesday and Friday afternoon is off for elementary school children and weekends too are off. This is to ensure that the child does not become over burdened and has time to process and assimilate all the learning that has taken place. Having said that, work is carefully monitored to ensure the child is keeping up and has understood what has been taught. Learning goes beyond the academic. Recently, my son's class was introduced to democracy. Using the electoral ballot, they had to elect a class representative. I'm sure they will now always remember how democracy works. There are also long term advantages to studying at this school that were of particular interest to us when deciding to apply. The French Baccalaureate certificate is recognised all over the world, including universities in India, but, more importantly, can enable an almost seamless transition to a university in France, and by extension, to elsewhere in Europe. A student will also be multilingual by the time he or she finishes with school, enabling access to other parts of the world beyond the Indian, Anglo-Saxon and French universities. The school is proudly multicultural and is actually one of the oldest schools in India. It's going to be 200 years old in another 3 years or so.
It's been a world of a change for all of us, but it's an adventure that we're all very happy to be on.

It’s been over a year since we enrolled our children at the Lycee Francais in Pondicherry. I decision to move here from Kolkata was to experience living in a bilingual, multicultural, global town- away from the big Indian cities
First off the history of this school is incredible being one of the oldest Lycee Francais schools in the world, this is evident in the main school buildings which are impressive and carry a lot of history.
Secondly, it a bilingual school with French as the principal medium of instruction- emphasis is also given to English and Tamil and in 9th grade students can also learn an additional foreign language- this is incredible as by the time children graduate- they will definitely know at least 4 languages( 2 of which are foreign)
The entire curriculum followed is that inscribed by AEFE-the French equivalent of an IB- it is global in its outlook and comprehensive. Should any student move to another country they can always enrol in an AEFE school( the network of schools is huge)- also eventually upon graduation - admissions to a leading university in France or Europe is almost a given.
We have found the teachers, staff and facilities of the school to be top class- the student teacher ratio is 1:15 and there is personalised attention given to students who may need assistance if they face any learning issues. Emphasis is given to independent learning and thinking- there is no prescribed ‘correct answer’ or ‘learning by rote’ which is often the case in Indian schools.
It is an inclusive school- there is equal attention given to all students- all official communication is in French and English. The school supports children from all backgrounds- there is financial aid given to families whose children are gifted but are unable to financially support the education.
One area they could definitely improve on is increase the offerings of sports facilities- due to space shortage in the heart of Pondicherry they do not have a large sports field or complex- it’s important that they can tie up with a local sports complex and offer more sports activities to the children.
Overall though I would recommend the Lycee Francais to parents who are looking to offer their children a global education and want them to be global citizens of tomorrow.

With adept educationists and a formidable curriculum, the institute provides an ideal mix for the cognitive development of a student. It needs a lot of understanding of the pedagogy and especially the language to fathom the kind of value the institue adds to one's life. A perfect matrix of education methodology determines the final outcome. And this matrix is, simply put, flawless.

We moved our two tweens from the French International School in Mumbai to the Lycée in Pondicherry and we couldn't be happier with our decision.
- This school is among the 10 oldest schools in the subcontinent, it is nearly 195 years old and the school complex is very well maintained, the French, Indian and EU flag at the main gate is truly representative of the school life, pedagogy and approach to teaching.
- It offers a full student life - studies, sports, library, arts, music - the works.
- The school is a diverse and vibrant mix of students and teachers from across the country and world.
- The school environment is conducive for learning - a welcome change for us. They have a values and ethics based approach to learning.
- The school is affordable from an international school perspective and it provides tremendous value - which is something I had come to accept as an impossible expectation in Mumbai.
- As a non-french speaking family, its easy to integrate once the child/children get a hang of the language - so if you want to provide your child with an extra advantage consider a bilingual system - they can only benefit from the exposure and of course it paves the way for their studies abroad - in France or any Francophone country, Canada etc.
- Pondicherry is a nice place to grow up in - it retains a certain warmth (yes it is hot and humid here) and old world charm.

I would encourage you to explore the Lycée Français International à Pondichéry for your child - after all education is the most valuable investment you can make in your child's life.
