The Marble Palace allows you to step back in time to Kolkata's colonial heydey. Built by a wealthy Bengali merchant Raja Rajen Mullick, this mansion oozes grandeur with its Italianate & Greek Revival mix, accentuated with French Rococo flourishes. There's a plethora of Greek and Roman sculptures inside the mansion and it is quite a vast collection. It's like walking through a portal to Kolkata's glorious past, when the city was filled with European style mansions and was an important center of global mercantile trade.

There is no entry fee..You can visit it any time. One of the Best old Calcutta heritage. There is zoo where different animals and birds of different regions are there. Marble Palace is a palatial nineteenth-century mansion in North Kolkata. It is located at 46, Muktaram Babu Street, Kolkata 700007. It is one of the best-preserved and most elegant houses of nineteenth-century Calcutta. The mansion is famous for its marble walls, floors, and sculptures, from which it derives its name. The house was built in 1835 by Raja Rajendra Mullick, a wealthy Bengali merchant with a passion for collecting works of art. The house continues to be a residence for his descendants, and the current occupants are the family of Raja Rajendra Mullick Bahadur. Raja Rajendra Mullick was the adopted son of Nilmoni Mullick, who built a Jagannath temple which predates Marble Palace, and still stands within the premises, but is only accessible to members of the family.

It's a place where you can see history frez itself in those marble and wooden status.the palace is full of Marble , wooden status ,vases , paintings etc.but the authority don't let anyone stay very long inside the palace if its a busy day ,i think it's because more people they serve more money they can make ,as there is no tickets in there but the main door guard and the guide will ask for some money.carry a identification like driving licence or voter card etc.

Private residence and museum of Raja Rajendra Kumar Mullick. the palatial house is a must visit for curio lovers. various paintings of western artist of renaissance period along with various marble sculpture imported from paris & italy kept here. all varieties of italian marble used to decorate inlay flooring of this palace, thus the name "Marble Palace", hosts of birds and few deers are kept for display in the zoo. visitors must have tickets from the tourism dept. of W.B prior visit.

Marble palace is a must watch in Kolkata. Though it is quite unknown to many people, the palace is extraordinary from both inside and outside. Entry is not always allowed. One has to convince the security guards. Otherwise ask them the procedure for a written permission to enter. The palace from outside is marvellous. It has lawn and zoo along with it. But the zoo currently don't have animals. The greatest interest will be the collectibles inside. Original painting by world famous artists, artifacts, sculptures from all over the world is present.
