Popularly known as Chetty Kovil and situated in Mission Street.......this is one of few temples in Puducherry/Tamil Nadu region where you can worship both Lord Shiva and Vishnu together...... Internal structures are beautifully constructed and very colourful.....it's very calm and peaceful..... We can find a mix of lord Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma statues in all gopurams indicating all are one....Must Visit

Beautiful Shiva temple located on a busy street.

One of the main temples in Pondicherry built in chola architecture. The entrance gopuram is quite majestic and once you enter you realize it’s quite a big temple from the inside.

Temple is very well maintained. There’s no footwear stand outside but a sadhu sits outside and you can safely leave it with him. Just make a small donation.

It’s not usually crowded like the Manakula Vinaygar temple and you can come here if you’re looking for some quite time with the divine.

Definitely a must visit temple in Pondicherry if you’re here.

Kalatheeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple
dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Mission
Street in Puducherry Town in Union Territory of Puducherry. The Temple is also known as Chetty Koil. The temple belongs to Puduvai Ayira Vysya Marabinar. The Temple is situated on Pondicherry Bus Stand to JIPMER (Gorimedu) Bus Route.

Sri kaalahateeswarar temple or locally known as Chetty Kovil. One of the oldest temple in Pondichéry situated in the heart of the city. As you enter you'll get to see sri kaalahateeswarar, behind his shrine there are seperate sannidhis for Murugar, Vinayagar. And a seperate one for Perumal. Currently the temple is under renovation.
