Sri Singirikudi Narasimha Temple

This is a Narasimha Khsetra, situated about 3kms west of Abhishekapakkam road junction of Pondicherry–Cuddalore Road.There were stone inscriptions in the temple which describe the donations offered by Chola Kings , Sri Krishnadevaraya etc to Sri Narasimha. Sage Vashishtha went to Singirikudi and attained salvation through penance. Vishnu in the form of Narasimha was pleased with his devotion and gave the audience to him.

1000 years old temple. Lord Narasimhar with 8 pairs of hands. Each hand of lord is held with weapons. Near feet of lord, we can see sculpture of hiranya's wife neelavathy, three asuras, prahalad, vasshitar. shrine was beautiful. Must visit temple in Cuddalore. There was nandavanam (garden) and theppakulam. Goddess nagamman temple was within temple premise. Visit Timings in morning 7.00 am - 12.00 noon. Not much crowded in week days. Road access to temple was okay. Car parking available few feet prior to temple entrance. Need Google map help to reach location.

One among the three famous Narasimha swami temple. Other two Puvarasamkuppam & Parikkalpattu. Swami here is ugra narasimha.
My recommendation to devotees who are visiting the temple for the first time, kindly spend some time outside the main gopura & carefully see & memorize the image of Narasimha swami so that once they get inside the main temple they will be able to easily understand/see what priest explains...

One of the famous Urga Narashima swamy temple in Pondicherry. It’s said that you have to visit two more Narashima temples in Poovarasankuppam and Parikkal temples on same day. This temple has been renovated few months back and very well maintained shrine. Not much crowded, however on Saturdays it’s bit crowded to have Darshan. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

The temple has been renovated recently which gives it a very elegant look.

Use Google maps to reach the temple as there will be no arches or signboard anywhere on the way, such a big temple struck in a small lane.
Shri Singirikudi Narashimar is first to visit following temples in Poovarasankuppam and Parikkal temples.
Shri Singirikudi Narashimar temple is clean and has a vibrance.
The gopuram, temple pond and smaller temples in the complex well maintained.
The sculptures are old and too romantic.
Best to visit in morning or by evening.
Best Come by own vehicle as the spot doesn't have auto/ taxi service nearby.
Can stay for 1 hour.
Avoid visiting in summer by noon time as it will be very hot.

The temple is dedicated to Lord Shri Narasimha, the fourth Avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is about 2km towards West from Thavalakuppam junction in Puduchery - Cuddalore highway. The temple has been recently renovated and is well maintained. Moolavar is Ugramoorthy Narasimha slaying Hiranyakashibu. Ambal Kangavalli thaayaar in seperate sannidhi. Not crowded, can have divine darshan of the Lord.

very powerful deity and very well maintained . Ukkra Narasimhar deity is very powerful. the archakars are very sincere and pleasant. must vist the temple and take his blessings. also pl visit Poovarasankuppam and Parikkal templw which are also narasimhar temples on the same day. However road to them are not good since in many places work is going on. so plan the travel timings

Three Narasimhas are enshrined in the same sanctum at Singrikudi temple in Kadalur district. If you worship them with fasting, even chronic problems will get relief.

Devotee Pragladhan worshiped Maha Vishnu as Paramporul. His father Asuran Iranya did not like his son's behavior. He punished his son by rolling him down the mountain and giving him poison. But he survived by the grace of Vishnu. Finally, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Narasimha with the face of a lion and the body of a man. He roared and tore open Iranyan's stomach and garlanded his guts. Lord Narasimha himself graces this temple with 16 arms. On the left side of Moolah are Iraniya's wife Nilavati, on the right side are Pragalathan, Shukran and Vasishtar. Further towards the north, Yoga Narasimha and Balanarasimha are also in the sanctum. It is special that three Narasimhas grace here in the same place, with conch, wheel, sword, bow, shield and severed head in hands. The other hands are in the position of tearing Iraniya's stomach. The glorious Pragaladhavarada, the urchavar, is standing with Sridevi and Bhudevi.

Kanakavallithayar graces a separate shrine towards the east. 'Kanaka' means gold. This mother who bestows wealth and Sumangali blessings is worshiped with lamp on Fridays. Mahalakshmi's aspect is the Vilva tree as the temple tree. The temple, which was renovated by Rajaraja Cholan and Vijayanagara kings, has a five tiered Raja Gopuram. There are shrines of Rama, Andal, Garuda, Alvars, Manavala Mamuni, Vishnu Durga and Hanuman. Agophilam Mutt houses the Vrindavan of the 4th Jeera. Jamadagni, Indra, Bhrigu, Vamana and Garuda Theerthas are located here. Devotees observe fast on Swati Nakshatra to remove debt problems, marriage ban, infertility, planetary dosha. When the prayer is fulfilled, they perform thirumanjanam (anointing) and get the Lord newly dressed.

A very calm divine place. The main lord here is very powerful. One of the three Narasimhar temples in a straight line. It is believed that one should visit all the three temples on the same day. A small temple not much crowded on ordinary days.

From pondicherry bus stand you can get Cuddalore bus and get down at Thavalakuppam stop and need to go by auto for 3km from thavalakuppam Or else you have direct buses to abhishekapadham stop from pondy bus stand which was 500 mts to temple and can walk from 5 am onwards.
Here you can do archana and worship the god .
Narasimhar was so beautiful and you can feel the power.
