Delightful small hotel in gorgeous old building with central courtyards. Staff were charming and helpful. Location is perfect for the market and a 15 stroll to the sea. As vegans we were pleased to see plant milks on offer.

A most charming heritage hotel with lovely personal touches; such as delicious cookies, Kollam demonstration, Mehindi hand painting and cookery demo. All of the staff were extremely welcoming and attentive, as only 10 rooms. The food was delicious and plentiful. Very reasonable. Thank you all. Would definitely recommend it. Well situated. Walking distance to the beach. Approved hotel by trailfinders! 🥰

We loved this charming hotel in the historic district of Pondicherry when we stayed in Dec 2022. I just realized I forgot to post a review at the time! So sorry! It's in a refurbished 130-year-old mansion. The staff and chef are very friendly and the food exceeds in quality what you can get in most 5-star hotels and restaurants. The current average Google rating does NOT do it justice! The Franco-Tamillian special dinner was fabulous and we enjoyed a wonderful cooking demonstration too.

Very carefully done restoration of historic building with new addition towards the back. Restaurant served excellent creative and seemingly authentic Tamil creole food, one of the best restaurants in a month of travel. Note that spice levels are authentic.

If you want to experience Tamil way of living ( hospitality, food, decor, vibe) this hotel has it all. I’d like to say this is the only good thing in Pondicherry.
The front desk is super helpful and nice , always available even if the hotel barely has 10 rooms.
Breakfast is tasty and elaborate, the look and feel of the hotel is so artistic, we absolutely loved it.
They also have a few activities throughout the day like rangoli making, heritage walks etc that can help you navigate this town.
Pondicherry as such is dirty, old, unorganized and a pretty pathetic holiday destination but just in case u land here, choose this property to make your stay comfortable.

Cons- choose deluxe rooms, other rooms are tiny because this is an old house converted to a hotel
- not too close to the beach at least a good 7-10 min walk

Had a exceptionally good food at this place. We ordered fish rice, watermelon cocktail was good too

Nice heritage home turned hotel. Service was excellent from start to finish. Hygiene was good and clean. Food tasty and nice. Staff Suresh and team were attentive and every ready to attend to us. We enjoyed our safe and comfortable stay. Location was good as well. Will return to stay the next visit for sure. And also recommended to many friends.

Only suggestion is to maybe relocate the owners portraits in the room elsewhere. Give you the feeling of being watched by them.

150 year old traditional Tamil home with a central courtyard renovated with a gentle touch to create an aesthetically wonderful space. A unique experience -- my favorite hotel.
It has all the charm of living in someone's home, with the luxury of a modern hotel. The service is friendly and gracious. When staying here, you also have access to the lovely pool at the sister property 2 km away in the French quarter.

One of the best place for experiencing a perfect tamil cuisine in pondicherry. Chicken kolambu and vatha kolambu was top notch. I was completely flattered by their services. I feel this place is a hidden gem in white town .

This was surprisingly an excellent place. The room was spacious & the AC kept the place cool, in spite of the crazy heat in Pondicherry. Special mention needed for the brilliant food - everything that we had at lunch & breakfast was really very tasty. Mutton curry 10/10 , fish curry 10/10 & coriander fish ( very good starter ) - breakfast was fantastic with great options — CGH properties so far are really bar raising.

I had the pleasure of dining at Maison Perumal during my recent trip to Pondicherry and it was truly a memorable experience. This restaurant offers some of the best South Indian food I have ever tasted. The dishes were all bursting with flavor and tasted heavenly. The restaurant has a charming ambience that added to the overall dining experience.

The service at Maison Perumal was impeccable - our servers were polite, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. They made us feel very welcome and provided excellent recommendations for dishes.

We had visited the restaurant and it was a beautiful experience. The restaurant is an old traditional building courtyard and is very peaceful surrounded by lots of plants.
Had the most delicious traditional tamilian food. A must visit place for non- vegetarian foodies!!
The staff here is also very polite and quick to serve. The ambience is quite calm and peaceful.

We moved here from the Palais for a couple of nights when they could not accommodate us for our full stay. We were disappointed by our small room and the fact that it faced the street, but the management tried to be as obliging as possible. Our son, who had spent his entire stay here, had palatial accommodation, by comparison. I enjoyed the complimentary cooking demonstration and the staff were very nice and kind. We also met lovely fellow-guests who were so interesting to chat to.

Went for my anniversary lunch . Perfect place to end the trip. Main courses are the best. We had idicha kozhi, era poondu gravy and omg.. this place is the best. Skip starters IMO

We wanted to stay at the hotel but it was fully booked, so we just went for dinner there instead. It is such a beautiful building and the restaurant is in a stunning courtyard - peaceful and calm. The food was excellent and the staff and service were so welcoming. Very much recommend dinner here, even if you can’t get a room at the hotel like us!

We went for dinner at Maison and came back with pleasant memories. We tried some authentic south Indian delicious and it was finger licking. Ambience and service were top notch. Must try, even if you’re not staying at the property.

Stopped here for lunch while walking in the Tamil Quarter. In the past 5 days, this is the best food I’ve had so far. The beetroot and shrimp was outstanding, as was the rasam, kootu and vegetable dish du jour that came with the mains. The food is among the best I’ve had in india.

The setting is very heritage, quiet and peaceful. Highly recommended.
