It's a hole in the wall place that doesn't boast great decor or fabulous hospitality or anything like that. what it does have are the best Kathi rolls in town, in a town renowned for it's kathi rolls. A double egg double chicken or a double egg double mutton roll is likely to fill up anybody but my advise is always order that second one, you'll want it :)

Badshah has been famous for its rolls for many years. It is the "go to" place for rolls in Kolkata.

Has been serving from the same location for years.

It has two foors. The upper floor is quiter.

The manu is large. Has lots of choices for Indian and Chinese fushion dishes. Plus the chicken rolls for which it is famous and for which people come here.

It has also beer to go with the rolls. They have the Kingfisher beer, which is quite popular. The beer comes in large bottles. Not the smaller 330 ml bottles.

The prices are reasonable and service is good.

This old-school restaurant cum bar is situated on the heart of Esplanade Market, just opposite to the newly opened Barbeque Nation, near to Simpark Mall or just beside Sreeleathers.
I have been hearing this place for their rolls and wanted to visit since long.
Yesterday I spent a lovely evening there with cosy ambience. They are spacious enought with two-storeyed sitting arrangement.
The first floor is comparatively better than the ground floor with dim-lit environment, chilled AC and cosy sofas.
Once you enter you could feel the traditional old fashioned ambience of Kolkata.
The alcohol and food are in a reasonable rate. Their Chicken Chelo Kebab is awesome and mention worthy.
Service was also good and didn't push for tip which I liked. They have only one washroom for men though it's small but clean.
Will visit once again for sure.
But hope they'll update their food and bar menu in Zomato.

My memory of this restaurant goes back to 1990s, when my uncle had take me there for having mutton rolls, which were absolutely fantastic and out of the world.
When I went there yesterday, I was very happy to see that they have maintained the same quality and taste.
The interiors still have the old world charm, though it may need bit more maintenance. Probably one of the very few bars in the area where prices are reasonable and women can safely enjoy a drink by themselves. The staff are very well behaved and helpful.

Good food and excellent Darjeeling tea marketed by Badshah. The best tea I have had in a long time. The place needs to get a coat of paint.

They have two menu cards, one for inside the restaurant, another for outside. The menu for rolls is applicable only for outside. At inside, you'll only get three types of rolls.
Taste of roll is best for me till now, no sauce used, salad is only as needed, specially the reshmi kabab was very tender, like literally melts in mouth.

One of the best chicken and mutton rolls of the city. Very cosy atmosphere. Best place to have chilled beer with rolls or delicious fish fry or fingers. Chinese food is very tasty. Nice place to have a relaxed quick bite. Very reasonable price. I love this place. Highly reccommended.

I have been here once. I liked the naan and tandoori roti, It was so soft and fluffy. Would like to learn, how do they make it? Second time I visit, I'll ask them sure. Food was delicious.

It's one of the best restaurant in kolkata , new market area . They were the first to introduce different types of Rolls . Decent price and food quality is good.

The food was good when we ate there last week, and today the staff was very helpful with a large take out order.

Food quality was good but the quantity was a bit less. Ambience was ok and the waiters were well-behaved. Overall it was a nice experience to have dinner there.

I already tasted their kathi kabab roll. It was just awesome. The roll is without any ketchup or any salads but filled up with meat(chicken and mutton).

Today I ordered Shahi chicken Biryani, Shahi Mutton Biryani, Masala Kulcha(2pc), Murgh bharta. The taste of biryani is some thing different with a sweet smell and the rice is very thin which makes it more attractive.
All the platter I orderd was for 4 people and it's sufficient.
The ambiance of this hotel is nice. It's just beside Sreelathers.

If you are foody and not yet tasted kati kabab roll from Badshah, then must try, I recommend.

Yesterday I went there to have a beer with french fries. Good place.... good well maintained bar.

A true Bengali is know for his/ her love for rolls! And Badshah is true to its name - the king of rolls! This place is an institution in Kolkata, known for its variety of rolls along with Muglai and Indo-Chinese cuisines. The food is fantastic. Mind you this is not an upscale place where you go to enjoy the ambience. This is a regular food joint with awesome food. The main location is at New market with a couple of other locations throughout the city. A must try for the city of joy.

I have visited to have rolls only. And they make superb roll. Please try egg chicken tikka roll and mutton roll. If you like, you can make chicken and mutton double in the roll. The paratha of the roll are too soft to imagine. And the rolls are slim too :)
