Utopia Village

This is a gem well known on south shore, but the name Utopia cannot be overstated. The staff are all wonderful people who are beyond nice. The owners working with the school children for ESL definitely deserves being commended.

This review is for the new store they opened on this property. The resort is no longer open, which is sad because the property and accommodations are beautiful! My husband and I stayed in a house not too far from this resort. We went walking one day and noticed it was empty, which was weird for such a pretty resort. We asked around and locals said it shut down because of covid and never reopened and no plans to ever reopen. It’s like a ghost town, it’s eerily pretty. Everything is still maintained like they’re just waiting for a boat full of people to arrive, but, nothing. It looks like at one time it would’ve been a great place to stay. It looks like a place I would stay. Anyway, in the back on this ghosted property is a little store. It’s the only store on that side of the island and is only assessable by boat unless you live/stay on the south part of the island. The people? Workers? Loved them. So helpful. So friendly. Best part? They accept credit cards! Not many places on the island do so it’s a real gem. They have a nice variety and very good prices. Prices were way better than the in town market. We found ice cream, dairy products, medications, pasta and cereals, drinks, seasoning, candy, just a little bit of everything, oh, and they deliver too! So if you walk and end up buying too much to carry or you give them a call, they will deliver what you need! We didn’t get enough not to carry but the store was packed with locals and expats. We even met some expats that invited us to watch the sunset from their dock. Anyway, you can’t stay at the resort but if you’re staying on treasure beach it’s definitely an asset to have this little store.

I stayed here for a week of diving in 2019 right before Covid . I was a solo diver And it was an amazing experience .the group of people that were there were wonderful as well as the dive masters who were excellent.

I rarely write reviews but I am compelled to write one for this fantastic resort. Chrisna, Paul, and the staff at Utopia Village were exceptional. Finding an awesome resort with truly compassionate owners and staff is a rare find these days. My wife and I could not have been more pleased with our week at the resort. Yoga by the ocean as the sun rose and scuba diving during the day makes for a wonderful trip. They made diving so easy and enjoyable. Meals were great and the resort was beautiful. Thanks again to all at the resort, including the reclining Buddha.

Excellent Scuba Diving. Very healthy reef system with a variety of corals . Lots of sea life. I saw whale sharks 4 out of five days (late April). Your experience may differ.
This the best maintained / built resort I've been to in the Bay Islands. Great meals with excellent presentation.

I just returned from vacation here and it was absolutely amazing. The staff, the accommodations, the food, the diving and everything else was above and beyond any expectations I might have come with. The owners and staff truly go beyond the call of duty to make your stay unique and catered to your needs, it was perfect! The name is fitting, it is truly utopia!

My friends told me about this resort 2 years ago and I kept bugging them to go back so I could see for myself! Finally Debbie said she would!
I absolutely loved this place. It's all I expected and more!
The people, owners and staff are extraordinary, so friendly and genuine! They make every dive fabulous and every meal an experience. The food is top notch and very consistent! Evelyn, Deandra and Marisol served us every meal with smiles! The bartender Eddie makes great drinks and brings them to you, no matter where you are. Everyone is so willing to go out of their way to make your stay at UV the best it can be...and more.
The dogs are great too - so nice to have furry friends on vacation with you! And the dive guides - OMG - They were wonderful! They knew exactly where to take us for fabulous dives!
Paul and Chrisna's attention to detail everywhere - the accomodations, the grounds, the meals, the decor and artwork - create such a warm, comfortable like-home atmosphere and fun experience. I plan to go back next year - I hope it works out! :-) xo (dates July 14-21, 2018)

I can't say enough good things about Utopia Village. We stayed April 23-April 30. The diving was excellent, the food was amazing, the accommodations are wonderful, but the absolute best thing about Utopia Village is the customer experience. Every single person on the staff and the owners are the nicest, friendliest people. It went beyond fixing problems or answering questions; the staff went out of their way to provide service way beyond our expectations. Beautiful lunch spreads in the pool, sending our favorite snack on the dive boat with us, planning each dive based on what the divers are excited to see, providing a wonderful slideshow of pictures from our trip to watch in the library, even writing down recipes for the amazing food (I could not leave the island without the recipe for the carrot soup)! We knew everyone's name by the end of the trip, and although the location and resort is AMAZING, the thing my boyfriend and I were most sad about leaving was the people.

Such an amazing experience! The adventure to get there is so much fun, and once you get there they make you feel like family.

If you like diving and relaxing I don't know how you can get any better than this.

It is all about you. If you plan to come for great diving or be away from the maddening crowd this is the place where U are in the center of all. They will take care of you. Great Cousine, Bar selections. It is only one stop from either Houston, Dallas, Miami or Atlanta.
Be ready to have lots of fun.

Paradise. All praise is accurate. Zero issues. Windy, so no bugs in June, but that limited shore dives.

Super intrigued. I will hopefully get more information when I visit Utila.
