The Redmire Village Pub Reviews

We had not been to this pub since it reopened as some form of privately owned/community-run hybrid pub but we had heard good things. We were not disappointed.
We were warmly greeted by what we believe to be the friendly and welcoming manager. She was also happy to take the time to explain the different food options, which was appreciated as I can be a bit dim at times! The beer was in good form and my partner had a soft drink that was well presented.
It is clear the pub has had a general refurb [there is still some work ongoing] that has been carried out on a tight budget with some of the finishes being a bit rough. Though it might just be me who notices this type of thing!
Overall the pub looks clean and well-kept. The faux leather covering of the fixed seating is very effective and we liked the light airy feeling of the colourways.
We visited on a wet Wednesday lunchtime and there were a good few other customers eating. Food is served throughout the pub with some more formal dining further into the pub. There were two food offers, which were very good value for money but I also suspect are attracting repeat customers: we will definitely be going back.
The waitress come bar lady, who may have been called Victoria, was an absolute star. She was friendly, quick and very efficient with her time and movement. From what we could see, after the manager served us our beverages this lady was running the whole front of house on her own.
She took her time to explain the menu options and drew our attention to the pensioner's special [60+]. In no way did she try to hide these good value options.
We opted for the pensioners special, which was £12 for a main and a pudding. Though one could just have a main for £8.
I would like to offer some customer feedback on this offer. We would have been happy to pay the £12 for the two courses and not been given the option to only pay £8 for the main. Equally, I think you could offer a soup or some other limited choice of starter in the offer of £12. So that one could choose a starter and main or a main and a pudding for £12.
Your pub, your choice but I think you could then do away with the £8 option!
The portion we had was more than adequate and in no way felt mean or stingy. The food was served very quickly, it was nicely cooked and well-presented.
The prominent hot drinks menu was a nice touch for those not wanting an alcoholic beverage. The price of these drinks was also reasonable.
A couple of niggles but they did not detract from our enjoyable experience.
The music was a tad too loud and the music profile might have been influenced by younger members of staff.
And, tomato ketchup: not only was it served in sachets it was not even Heinz!
Please note that parking is limited so you might need to park in the village and walk.
Worth noting, though we no longer have a dog this pub is dog friendly, which is good to see.
For some reason, Google did not allow me to upload any photos.

What a massive and very welcome turnaround to see the pub back to it's vibrant self! Well done to everyone involved 🏆
Fab staff, food, an impressive real ale selection and a great atmosphere. Very dog friendly too and with a log burner blazing to keep a cozy temperature. A couple of letting rooms open now as well 👌

Visited just after reopening, and enjoyed a lovely few drinks with friends. We sat outside in the beer garden as it was a dry day, and it's a lovely spot to sit with the dogs and our friends. We're looking forward to returning this summer for a meal. Would definitely recommend.

What a fab little village pub but so much more than that, it's a village hub with everyone involved. All credit to the new owner Mike and his brilliant staff team. The food, drinks and welcome are outstanding 👌

My wife and I had a noontime lunch here yesterday and what a lovely experience it proved to be. It was our first visit but we couldn’t have felt more welcome and in no time were in interesting conversation with fellow travellers. Then the food came. I had the chef’s special, a Ballotin of beef featherblade on puréed potato with roasted root vegetables, an outstanding gravy with extra chips (lots of them❗), all utterly delicious and well prepared. My wife, an aficionado of burgers, had the burger, she gave it 5 stars….and chef Ray 6! We shall return‼
