We had a lovely trip to the folly in February. Host Tim was very helpful. The hot tub was great - easy to heat up and so nice to sit in and admire the view in the evening after a day walking the Dales.

Fantastic overnight stay in the Hazel dog friendly yurt. We received a warm Yorkshire welcome on arrival from Tim who showed us everything we needed to know and had even lit the hot tub for us. The yurt had everything we needed to enjoy our stay including a gas bbq, hot tub and a really comfortable bed. The area was fully enclosed which meant it was totally safe for our dog. Totally chilled out stay despite the grim weather. Can't wait to book again for next year.

I received the 3.5hr farm experience as a birthday present and LOVED every minute of it. Tim was an amazing guide and ensured we got the most out of our day. Would recommend to anyone with a love for animals, it was the best day out! We did not stay over so cannot comment on the rooms :)

I had the wonderful half day farm experience given to me as a birthday gift from my best friend. We’ve reached the age where we prefer to do things, learn things, experience things rather than own another pair of gloves!
We arrived at the farm on a very wet and chilly October morning to be greeted by a smiling Tim who was in charge of us all morning. Tim happily guided us through all the activities we would be doing and along the way answered any questions and told us all about farming. After feeding the chickens, moving the Llama, feeding the cheeky piglets and weighing the biggest piglets we stopped for a lovely breakfast in the farm cafe. The highlight was when we arrived in an empty field and Tim shouted to the highland cattle to come so we could move them to another field. Out of nowhere the beautiful highland cattle appeared and we gentle walked them from one field, across a road stopping all traffic, into the new field. What beauties they are!
We throughly enjoyed our morning with Tim and all animals we met and would highly recommend this wonderful farm experience.

Absolutely stunning location and extremely accommodating. As a group of 5 girls we really struggled to find a place that would take us for one night but Tim and Kate were extremely helpful with my visit and upcoming to the visit. We drove 3 hours to get there and already discussing our visit back.

Would recommend for couples and groups, absolutely great!

What a fantastic experience this was! My husband and I spent 3 nights with our 6 and almost 2 year old sons and our dog in Hazel yurt and it has been a really special stay. The boys especially loved watching all the comings and goings of a working farm and having an enclosed space for both the dog and the toddler was a godsend! The wood fired hot tub was fab and the yurt was really spacious even with the double futon, travel cot and dog crate.

The farm tour was a real treat. Very informative and really fun for the kids and grown ups alike. The icing on the cake was when Tim took us to see the highland cows. Off-roading in an old Land Rover was my sons dream! And herding the highland cattle to new fields was a real experience.

Tim is such a fantastic host! So helpful and friendly.

We certainly didn’t want to leave and are already thinking when we can return. I have a feeling we’ll become regulars!

Thank you to everyone at The Wensleydale Experience for creating such a special little place.

This is our fourth visit to the Wensleydale Experience and couldn’t recommend it enough. Tim, the site manager, is extremely welcoming and accommodating. We travelled with two other families and every effort was made to ensure we had everything we needed. The children (aged from 3 to 9) absolutely loved the farm tour and spent most of their time in the hot tub!
Facilities are great (comfortable bed, toilet and shower per yurt and ample space including BBQ area). There is also a lovely cafe and farm shop close to site.
We will be back next year and would highly recommend.

Meant to write this review a couple months ago but just have to say it was one of if not my favourite holiday! I came with my girlfriend and stayed it a yurt which was very cosy and the comfortable, the hot tub was amazing and would recommend the bbq package which had an amazing meat selection. We also did the farming experience which was such a good laugh with Tim and the younger Aussie lad (sorry I’m bad with names), we moved highland cattle and much more and really had the feeling of what it would be like to work on the farm without the early start and late finish😂, we will definitely be coming back to do it again!

We called up while we were in the area and Tim was able to squeeze us in on the same day for the Farm Tour! He was very enthusiastic, knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful. Very insightful and very much worth the money. Highly recommend.
We weren’t sure who it was for but Tim tailors it for adults, kids, and families

Amazing place to stay in the Yorkshire dales! Tim was very helpful and there when needed.
The yurt was equipped with all that we needed, the bed and sofa bed was comfy, the gas bbq was a great plus, the toilet and shower area was clean, and the hot tub was great and in a private spot. The cafe on site was a bonus, we had a nice breakfast in there.
A short walk away from the yurts is a lovely waterfall - you get to walk through a field of highland cows to get to it, which we found pretty amazing.
We will definitely be visiting again and highly recommended to all.

Fab Glamping Short break with our young family (2 adults and 2 little girls).
Our children enjoyed the yurt experience, they loved the wood fired hot tub and helped us get it ready.
We walked down through the beautiful fields to Redmire Falls - which is beautiful.
The showers are amazing , better than we have at home! Outdoor flushing toilet is a bonus and the shower and toilet are all private for your own yurt. We stopped in Oak, fab views of the sheep, cows over the wall and partridges and pheasants a plenty.
Unfortunately our time here was cut short so We did not have time to do a short farm tour but we will be back next year to experience more. If you are taking a young family two nights is more than enough for the glamping experience. BBQ clean and brilliant sausages from the farm shop. Yurt was clean, lovely fresh bedding and all you need, stove for kettle and log burner to keep it warm.
Tim, the site manager is a lovely, friendly welcoming manager with a lot of knowledge about the farm and area, a great guy to talk to.
Keep up the good work, maybe the Wensleydale team could install solar power fridges in the yurts or usb fridges, this would go down well as hard to keep drinks cool with constantly asking the farm shop to refreeze your icepacks!

My family use this as a regular retreat. We love the idea of being able to sit in an open air hot tub watching the nearby farm animals go about their day. The views across the valley from our regular Yurt is amazing. Tim is very attentive. He will always drop by if you need him, He does great farm tours and keeps them engaging for kids and adults alike.

We tried an alternative experience and came back with our tails between our legs. Just the right amount of power supply in the yurts so that you have light and charging facilities.

If you go during the week you will also get to see RAF and US Marine aircraft doing low passes through the valley.

Castle Bolton is just across the valley too and is worth a visit as it is near the national park.

With this being only a couple of hours from Liverpool we will indeed keep coming back

We spent two nights at the Wensleydale Experience and it did not disappoint. It was our anniversary and wanted to spend some time in nature to relax.

The views were beautiful and even though other yurts are nearby, it felt private and secluded. The yurt itself was spotless, with the a huge comfy bed!

The hot tub was also a lovely treat, but make sure to pile the wood up to get it warmed up (it can take a while, but once warm it’s easy to stay on top of) We loved the fire pit and enjoyed late night drinks around it. We used the BBQ every night too.

We stopped for breakfast at the cafe on site one morning, it was delicious and the eggs were just soooo fresh tasting.

Tim was super helpful and always on hand for questions, nothing was ever too much trouble for him.

We adored our stay and will definitely be back for some unwinding time.

Thanks so much!

We had the most amazing holiday at the Wensleydale Experience. It was probably the most relaxing holiday we have ever had.
Tim was so welcoming and helpful and friendly; he honestly could not have done any more for us to make our stay any more pleasant. The setting was perfect, both peaceful and beautiful. From the door, and deck, of Larch Yurt our view was the stunning Wensleydale valley across to Bolton Castle. It was just a perfect location for exploring the stunning Yorkshire Dales. We just didn't want to leave and are already looking to see when we can rebook.
Highly, highly recommended.

This is a magical place with only 6 yurts on site and with spectacular 360 degree views. We stayed in Larch and it was very private with the best views. There are beautiful walks on your door step and even a waterfall just half a mile over the fields. The yurt comes with a gas BBQ as well as a fire pit and there is a gas camping stove inside to make your morning brews. The hot tub is wood fired and good fun to navigate. The shower is super powerful and hot - no complaints there. We will definitely come back. Thanks Tim and team. From Katie & Rich.

Our 3rd visit to the yurts for a girls weekend away. A fabulous place. The yurts are super clean and spacious. The kitchen equipment and gas BBQ are perfect for what we needed. Tim is brilliant and even started our hot tub fire for us when we had a long walk back from the pub. Already booking for next year!

Stayed for 3 nights in one of the yurts and booked the half day farm experience. Facilities at the yurt were exactly as described, with the bed being extremely comfortable, and the hot powerful shower a pleasant surprise. Hot tub took a while to warm up as expected so booking the pre heating is a good idea on arrival day. Once it’s hot, keeping it warm is easy and it is absolutely fantastic and extremely relaxing. The farm experience was really hands on and very enjoyable, and Tim’s knowledge of both farming and local history made it very entertaining ( and the breakfast was superb ) A special mention for farmer Tim, who is an absolute star! Whilst he is obviously a busy man, he is always on hand for help and advice, and made our stay hassle free. The on site cafe and shop are also excellent, and there are plenty of interesting places to walk to, and a good variety of local pubs close by. As a relaxing break away from the stress of modern life we would highly recommend a break at the Wensleydale experience, and we will definitely be going again.

Absolutely fantastic. The yurts were spotless. Stunning views from the yurt we stayed in looking at bolton castle. brilliant staff. The cooked breakfast was excellent. The farm tour was fantastic. Learnt an amazing amount about the area and the history of the dales thanks to Tim's knowledge.

We had such a lovely weekend in the Yurt with our two kids! The farm is lovely, Tim very welcoming and the whole stay was so fun. We had a lovely meal in The Fox in West Witton one evening and a great day at Forbidden corner which was so close by!
Would definitely recommend for a weekend away, our only regret is not packing enough blankets and warm clothes as it did get v chilly overnight (obviously!). We would love to go back.

Just back from a terrific stay at a dog friendly yurt at The Wensleydale Experience. This was perfect for us. The yurt is in an enclosed area so our dog could happily mooch about while we cooked on the gas barbecue or had a dip in the wood-fired hot tub. There is a gas stove inside the yurt to boil your kettle for that all important cup of Yorkshire tea. There is a fully stocked kitchen unit with glasses, mugs, plates, cutlery, saucepan, bottle opener etc. It feels like camping with comforts - you have your own toilet and shower too - you can leave the shower doors open for that fresh air feel first thing in the morning and wave at Rolo the shetland pony. We had a barbecue the first night and a pub dinner the second. There is a shop on site for beer and sausages and a cafe too, both with extensive local edible delights. It was a great base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and so nice to get back to our cosy yurt where you could get an outside fire going in the fire pit and look out for shooting stars ! There is also a log wood burner inside. The only issue was not wanting to leave. Tim and Steph were brilliant, friendly hosts - nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.
