Ambleside Lake House

I looked at staying somewhere different for this stay in Ambleside, and The Lake House didn't disappoint. There's a steep drive with limited parking, though alternatives are suggested. My room was spacious, and the decoration was in keeping the other hotels, bars, and restaurants in this brand. I stayed in room 50 on the ground floor and had views of the gardens with glimpses of Windermere. Breakfast was served at the Waterhead Inn and can be reached by a walk down through the gardens or the drive. There was a good selection on the menu to order, and I helped myself to coffee, juices, and cereals. For me, it was the location and room that made this a memorable place to stay. The staff team were friendly and helpful.

Absolutely beautiful. Food amazing views stunning. A quiet retreat and dog friendly hope to return soon. Staff in the pub so friendly and helpful couldn't rate high enough xx

Fabulous stay at the lake house. The Location was ideal. Staff all friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a room on the top floor facing the lake and the views were fabulous. Clean, spacious room. The breakfast included in the deal was lovely lots of choice and all tasted great. Would defiantly recommend! And hopefully return soon!

Beautiful house set in a perfect situation to visit Ambleside. Room was clean and spacious. Bed/pillows were very comfortable. Service provided by all the staff was friendly, welcoming and attentive. Perfect for that romantic get away.

Great location. Lovely presented room which was very clean and comfortable. Only down side ; our room was a small double and lacked a comfortable chair/ small couch to relax on when out of bed. The drive to get in was a bit tight, especially if a car was coming the other way. Breakfast was absolutely fantastic. Staff very pleasant and informed. Fantastic stay.

Stayed here for 3 nights this August for our ‘minimoon’ and loved every minute.
The room was on the top floor with wonderful views across the lake.
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, always happy to help.
The room was clean and tidy, bed was very comfy.
The bathroom was immaculate and the hot water was great, it didn’t run out when you ran a bath which is quite common in hotels! Lovely little toiletries, the soap left your hands lovely and soft!
Breakfast was great, full cooked breakfast with good portions.
We will be staying here for all our future visits to The Lakes as this is just on the edge of Ambleside, giving the peace and quiet of not being in a big bustling town.
I couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

A lovely warm welcome and shown to our room which was a Hideaway room outside of the main hotel building which was perfect!

Breakfast was lovely, also the hotel is dog friendly in some rooms, always book direct as you will genuinely get the best deal!

The chocolates in the room from Temperley Chocolates were a touch of class and we will definitely be ordering more.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 5 nights in the superior hideaway room. We were in room 16 and although we had a massive window, we could only get a small view of the lake. I must say, the contemporary room was simple yet elegant, bed was comfortable. Also, the customer service was fantastic. The ladies who worked there (I forgot to ask for their names!) were very welcoming, kind and helpful! To be honest, all the staffs have been amazing. They allowed us to keep our luggages in the Lake House while me and my boyfriend got my boyfriend's car out of the garage in the morning we had to check out. Breakfast was great for me (im not fussy) but my boyfriend who is vegetarian would have liked to have vegetarian sausages and perhaps even a hash brown put into the breakfast menu. The Lake House is a 20 minutes walk from town which isn't too bad but when it's a rainy day, it can be a bit of a trek. However, the lake district is all about walking and appreciating the scenery. Me and my boyfriend will be planning to come back here during the summer! Thank you, once again to all the staffs.

Lovely B&B. We were in a small double - lovely room. Super bed, quiet - perfect nights sleep.
Staff were all lovely - couldn’t have done anything more for us. Breakfast was great, porridge, kippers, eggs etc.

Myself and my wife stayed here December 2021 and then again May 2022 in the hideaway
Beautiful views close to Ambleside pier and best of all you can stroll around Ambleside Windermere especially if you wake early before anyone else gets there it really is very peaceful and atmospheric
And then you can have a delicious breakfast in the hotel
Another reviewer reminded myself of the great service by Zoe ? Definitely sounds like the same lady didn't stop from dawn till dusk and nothing was too much trouble a definite credit to the hotel

Lovely place to stay! We only stayed one night as it was a stopover but worth staying for longer. The location was central to everything. The staff were friendly and accommodating, rooms and service was 10/10! Will be visiting again thank you!

Our stay was lovely. The hotel staff was wonderful and very helpful. The WiFi in the hideaway rooms was really good and it was very quiet.
The breakfast was delicious with a variety of choice catered for.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend this place to others as you are literally a couple of minutes walk to the boat pier trips that takes you to all the main places on the lake.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights last month. A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Its situated centrally and is opposite the lake and provides easy access to local transport,boat and bus trips. However what made the hotel extra special were the staff. Very welcoming,friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great too. Plentiful and with a lot of variety.Sets you up for the day. This was my first visit to the Lake district,but it definitely won't be my last.

This hotel great. Located at the top of the lake in a quiet town.

You can get to a boat tour in literally 2 minutes from the hotel and the stuff are always willing to assist.

Parking feels abit limited but was not a problem on my visit.

I would recommend this place to anyone, and I would stay here again if needed. Probably come back for summer.

Absolutely loved my stay here, beautiful room amazing food with great service. Me and my fiancée got engaged in Ambleside and the hotel gave us a card and bottle of Prosecco to celebrate which was super thoughtful. I just want to mention Anne especially as she was so lovey and accommodating and gave us great recommendations for things to do. 100% coming back again!

Stayed for 2 nights in February, the views of the hotel speak for themselfs, stunning, the driveway and the walk up is a little steep if you're not too good on your feet but manageable, the rooms are very spacious and incredibly clean! The bed was very comfortable and big! The veiws from the rooms are great can see the lake on a nice day! The staff where very pleasant and accommodating, the breakfast was also great!! The full house was to die for, not one complaint the whole stay! Would recommend 100%. The price was also very reasonable! They also offer 10% off at table 22 just across the road and its fantastic!

What a place 👏... fantastic location with stunning views of the lakes and surrounding countryside. Stayed in one of the 'Hideaways' and this couldn't have been any more perfect for a couples getaway. Staff were incredible throughout .. will most definitely be coming back here in the near future

Great location, footsteps from the lake and short walk to the city (about 10 to 15 minutes). The check-in and check-out are quick and simple. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are very nice (each one has its own style) and breakfast is good. I recommend the hotel for groups and solo travelers.
