The Greenman Public House

Stubbled across this hidden gem. Down an alley way from the main road the place is set back so you cannot immediately see it. We visited after a walk in the Peak District with our baby and was perfect. Staff were friendly and accommodating, high chairs provided and hot water.
Plenty of choice of beers and plenty on new ones which aren’t very common. Perfect for a beer lover.
The pub is also a restaurant and looked like it had been recently refurbished with modern stylish decor.
Other guests were also friendly with a few locals taking time to chat and interact with ourselves and our baby.
Highly recommend a visit.

Great food staff were brilliant service exceptionally helpful can't fault the place. It was quiet but lovely. Catering for 11 people all served efficiently

We visited just after Christmas and had the Wednesday steak dinner offer. 2 steak dinners with mash or chunky chips and a bottle of wine for £50. It was delicious and very well presented. The service was very good, along with the atmosphere. We will return as we really enjoyed our visit.

Omg. I’ve just demolished the best roast beef sandwich Ive ever had in my life. And I’m a fat 51 year old so I’ve had a lot of roast beef sandwiches in my time. Epic.

Really lovely place in the heart of Ashbourne. We found The Green Man to be the perfect end to our day out in the Peaks with our baby.
The staff were all super friendly and accommodating as were all the locals who stopped to chat or exchanged smiles with our son.
There was plenty of choice in terms of ales/lagers with the opportunity to try things we hadn’t come across before.
This place is a hidden gem in Ashbourne; it’s sleek, modern and crisp in decor, the toilets and baby changing facilities were all spotless as were the highchairs and the staff have excellent customer service skills.

We stopped by recently for a mid week evening meal. Can always rely on The Green Man for a hearty dining experience. Great food, inviting atmosphere! A great all round pub!

A warm welcome as soon as I walked in. My food was delicious. Cauliflower teriyaki and chicken goujons. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Great price with a drink included. I will definitely be back with the tribe.

Really like it in here. The partial separation of the bar and restaurant is nice, we've had a nice sit down meal and also just come in for drinks with a group and it's always nice either way.

Definitely not a cheap meal but it’s worth the quality in my opinion. Good beer selection, fantastic soup, and very happy with my delicious elevated version of fish and chips. Perfect meal after a long hike!

We'd been meaning to try The Greenman since it was taken on by new management, and we are so glad we did. Their roast dinners are incredible! The staff are super friendly and attentive! We can't wait to come back soon! Thank you xxx

Excellent food with efficient and professional service. Very well balanced beetroot & goat cheese starter followed by perfectly cooked roast beef. All made easy with the set price 2 or 3 course priced menu.

Just had a lovely meal and the best fish chips n amazing mushy peas in ages . Nice looking place and kitchen view and staff immaculate! We will be back

Mistakes happen, did they accidentally forget about us after we ordered? yes they did, did they admit and apologise for the mistake? Yes they did.

It’s easy to leave a bad review on that basis, but that’s not constructive for any business, mistakes do happen, and it’s what happens after that, that truly matters.

After admitting to the mistake our food was prepped and ready in a timely fashion, and standards did not drop as a result.

Yes I could be picky and say the salmon was a little dry around the edges, but overall it was succulent and juicy with a nice crispy skin. Not sure about the brown shrimp in the risotto, from an additional flavour viewpoint, but it was a good, creamy, cheesy tummy filling risotto with well balanced flavours and ingredients. Even the spinach was wilted to perfection.

My partners pork belly, OMG, crispy skin, bang on, seasoning spot on, pork belly cooked in its own juices, absolutely lip smacking tasty.

Her sisters steak was tender, but slightly chewy, but hey that could easily be the cut of the steak, I’ve cooked enough in my time to no that beef isn’t just about the chef’s abilities, it’s all about that meat. But the garlic butter it was cooked in, well again, flavours were absolutely fantastic, if I had one negative, I would say the chunky chips were a little soggy and could have been fluffier inside.

Overall, if you are near Ashbourne pop into the Green Man for some food, you won’t be disappointed.

We came here twice during a short stay in Ashbourne. Once to sit outside and have dinner and drinks, when the food was tasty, service excellent and surroundings very pleasant. The next day we sat inside to watch the women's world cup final- and again, great food and friendly atmosphere. Dog friendly in the bar and outside.

Warm inviting great selection of food and drinks would highly recommend visiting. Pinder and all staff are brilliant at their craft and enjoy visiting when in town.
