Called in to look at some coats, it was time my husband changed his 30 year old Sprayway coat, we were assisted by the lovely Morgan, she was very helpful, informative and patient. This was the first shop we visited and after 3 hours and looking in all the rest returned to purchase the coat that Morgan had suggested. My husband was very happy with his shopping experience and now has a lovely smart black Berghaus coat, if it lasts as long has his last one he won't be needing another. We'll done Morgan on providing 1st class customer service

We regularly shop at this Ambleside shop. Today my husband purchased a pair of walking boots. We were served by Morgan. She was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and she was able to give expert advice. This lovely girl is an asset to this shop.

Today I visited Ambleside town centre as I needed to purchase a new pair of winter walking boots. The young gentleman upstairs in the boots department of Blacks was just so helpful kind and extremely knowledgeable too. He made buying a new pair of walking boots a nice easy prompt experience and I recommend this store highly even to the point I have already recommended this store to friends. Thank you so much for your amazing experience today.

Went in over February half-term to buy a pair of walking boots. The young lady who served me couldn't have been more knowledgeable about the various brands, as well as how to check if the fit is good. She also showed me how to tie laces in different ways so that the boot can feel more snug on the foot.
I've now been for several long walks in the new boots (I thought I'd better test them out before leaving a review) and they've been really comfortable.

Went into Blacks looking for a new rucksack not an expert in this area but knew my current one was too heavy and made me sweat. The assistant asked me if 8 needed help to which I said I just need a new bag for day walking. The next 15 mins was a lesson in choosing the right bag and fitting which the young staff member went through with me in great detail. It was like buying a tailor made suit. Exceptional service. To top it our national trust membership gave us 15% discount.
I highly recommend this shop as the staff were more than happy to advise in a lot of our questions.
I ended up with the Osprey 36l rucksack that has the mess rear trampoline which keeps the bag off the back slightly. Reducing the chance of sweat. And after 3 days of walking each 10+ miles a day I can confirm the bag does what it states.

Called in to browse the hiking boots and was welcomed with a friendly smile. The service from the young man was fantastic and efficient. New boots purchased and happy at the quality and price. Will definitely call again.

Really impressed today. I asked about a product and the sales staff were really knowledgeable. Very helpful all round and then even used common sense when it came to offering a discount. This secured a sale that I had been uncertain about. Well done to all involved.

I went in today (11th Aug 2021) looking for a new pair if walking boots. I roughly knew what I was after and picked a pair to try on. The lady who helped me from there on out was fantastic. She had a real in depth knowledge about the boots and how they should fit. She instructed me his to "walk" on the test ramp to see if they would be OK going downhill etc.
As it happened the boots were perfect and her knowledge helped me get the sizing right. I felt like had they mot been good for me she would have quickly found which were.
I just wish I'd been able to remember her name! I was there between 11am and half past.

The chap working in the footwear section was on point. Jack was knowledgeable of brands and the strengths thereof. He kindly measured my feet and recommended the best brands for width and for my purpose too.

My boots were in the sale too which was a lucky bonus given how dear they are!!!

Clean, tidy and dog friendly!!!

I visited this store last Wednesday and received some of the best customer service ever. A young man who served me was very knowledgeable about hiking boots, asked all the right questions and although he came back with 6 pairs for me to try the very first pair (his recommendation) they fit perfectly and have given me no problems and with no breaking period. I wore them for 3 days continuously and they kept me safe and dry. I also purchased a waterproof coat which amazingly worked unlike the last item I bought from a bigger chain which I shall never visit again (M******* W********) as none of their goods are half as efficient but you only get what you pay for.

I went into this place and found they had markers on the floor to ensure people walked slowly around the shop and didn't get to close together. I'm not sure what event could possibly necessitate precautions like this but I must say I love them as I have always found that shopping is too fast paced! I've always struggled to keep up. Now, with all the people properly spaced out it's just right, and shopping isn't the challenge it used to be!

Love going to Blacks in Ambleside. Absolutely great product at brilliant prices. Prob go more if I had a discount card or something as travel from Lancaster to visit but well worth it.

I don’t generally do reviews of shops but the lady that served me was so lovely and helpful and helped me pick some fab walking sandals at a bargain price. I’m so sorry that I can’t remember her name as I’ve take too long to write this but thank you so much for your help xx
