Let me even tell you… I had been looking for a salon/hairdresser to do a weave with leave out and it was super LAST MINUTE just before New Years. I found this salon, booked online at midnight, was seen 8am the next day!!!!! I needed to be somewhere at 11.30, my hair was already done by 10.30! It was a dream!!

The salon is clean, organised, the stylists are ALL friendly, approachable, PROFESSIONAL! I loved it all! They did my hair with love and care, plus Helena knows a lot about hair, her and her sister even gave me advice on how to maintain the style without damaging my hair!

My hair came out looking absolutely amazing, everyone giving me compliments! And my hair is 4c, not everyone knows how to work with.

I have been to many hair salons, paid much more but not had the outcome as I had here. I will definitely be back, and I’m recommending to all my friends and family ❤ thanks again

Had a keratin treatment - absolutely love it. No faffing around, efficient! Also witnessed some amazing hair transformations.

I returned the next day to have some tracks put in - let me say this lady is a miracle worker!!! I am so happy with my hair, it’s giving natural, healthy and body and only did 3 tracks.

Nice well presented salon. Amazing staff, but not only that. Stylists are amazing. Worked wonders on my hair. Also, they cover all hair textures(all nations of people). Affordable prices too, just what we all need, barring in mind today's cost of living prices. I've actually been twice now!. Once a month, I'm sure we females deserve that, but they actually do mens hair too!!.

Smooth, speedy and professional service; excellent value for money; and very reasonably priced. Great blowdry and silk press results. Couldn’t recommend more highly, especially for Afro-textured and curly hair types!

I usually go to Helena for my standard relaxer retouch, treatment, colour and trim. She and her assistant show courtesy, efficiency and style. I'm always pleased with her results on my hair and leave feeling transformed. She deals with a lot of clients all wanting different styles and it's a pleasure to see her work in action. The salon is kept clean and tidy as well. Overall, I would very much recommend her service.

Helena and all the staff are amazing! I would suggest you ignore the reviews about rudeness! I’ve been going for approx 2/3 years and the service is amazing no matter who does your hair. Helena gives all her attention to the person who’s hair she is doing and gives support to her team doing others. You will never leave the salon unhappy and she’s truly loves what she does and I can say for an are saturated with hair dressers she’s is truly the best!

I’ve been getting my hair done at Helena’s since 2019. My hair was about jaw length then and now it’s shoulder length and thick - could probably be longer and thicker if I just listened to Helena’s advice 🙈. If you have natural hair or really want to commit to looking after your hair - then Helena’s is the place to go. I don’t go anywhere else. If they are not opened, I’m not getting my hair done - period.

Helena and her team are lovely, professional and timely. The salon is always clean and they have all the right tools at the ready.

As a woman of darker complexion, it is essential to have an hair dresser that understand your hair and understands how to fix it, and style it to your shape or face I always have amazing experiences here.

Had a great hair conditioning/oil treatment from Lisa today. My long natural hair is 4C with fine,dry and dense strands. So usually blow dry treatments have been sore with various hairdressers, but to my surprise today it was smooth and relatively painless and I left with hair that looks much healthier and moisturised! It's a shame I only discovered this local salon just before I'm moving, but if I ever pass through croydon I'll be booking with Lisa!

I have been a client of Helena McRae for the best part of 5 years now and the professionalism and attention to detail is second to none. Gone are the days of spending hours in the hairdressers - their efficient and friendly service always has me in and out and loving my hair. From a colour and cut to a blow dry and style, it is evident they are dedicated to the employing the latest developments in afro hair to achieve the best end result. I use to travel as far a field as Knightsbridge Bridge for a hair appointment and now I achieve twice the quality at a fraction of the cost. If you’re looking for an Afro hair salon, that cares about your hair, the products they use and your time (trust me they are on the decline, I have tried them all), this salon is a unsung pioneer in the industry and is well worth a visit.

Came in to get my hair cut and styled today and two very lovely ladies did such a fantastic job. I was a bit sceptical about coming in after reading some of the reviews but I have nothing negative to say about them. The place was very clean and everyone was so polite. There was 2 other ladies having their hair done when I arrived with my mum but we were still both seen to very quickly. Both of us were done within an hour and a half of arriving and we couldn’t be happier. We’ll definitely be coming back here.

I have been a customer of Helena's for years and will only go to her for ANY sort of chemical or cutting service. I will not allow anybody else to chemically treat, colour or cut my hair. ANYBODY!! Helena has been my hairdresser for many years and she always ensures that she gives me the very best service and treatment! Having experienced other hairdressers in the local area, I can honestly say nothing compares. Instead of spending the whole day in the hairdressers, I am in and out as quickly as possibly with the best care given. Cannot fault Helena!
