The César Manrique Foundation is located in a unique building designed by César Manrique himself upon his return from New York, when he decided to settle permanently in Lanzarote.

Inhabited by the artist for 20 years, from 1968 to 1988, this is the house in which he lived the longest.

It stands in the middle of a lava flow created by the major volcanic eruptions that struck the island between 1730 and 1736.

In this building, which covers 3000 square meters on a plot of 30,000 square meters, reference is made to the relationship between the building and nature, which fuses volcano and architecture in a bond of mutual respect.

A true time capsule in honour of César Manrique and his work. The foundation has achieved a true dedication to his memory by preserving a glimpse of his lifestyle and the passion he had and sharing his legacy to others to see, understand and admire. The foundation has managed to preserve impeccably his vision. Please do visit and spend time taking in all the art, surroundings, decor, as well as César’s message and vision.

Beautiful museum to visit in Lanzarote , wouldn’t take kids to visit it as some of the images displayed are not child friendly but a lovely place for adults to visit

Lovely place to visit and even a must if you visit Lanzarote. Nice to get to know more about César Manrique and his unique style/way of living and his accomplishments for the island itself.

The museum is amazing. Céser Manrique was a great artist and fought to maintain the beauty of Lanzarote. He designed his home to incorporate the stunning lava fields surrounding the property. You will not be disappointed if you visit. 😄

I absoloutely loved this place. It is obvious why Manrique is so revered on the island. His home built into lava tubes so super unique and speaks volumes about who he was a person. His personality (ego!) screamed out from every room, nook and cranny. I had a profound spiritual experience there. It was like I was connected to some higher cosmic force. Even though there were people all around mé I felt like I was alone in this vortex of deep connection beyond my surroundings. Absoloutely beautiful and life enriching experience.

Definitely different but enjoyable. A glimpse of a lifestyle outside of normal experience.

Cesar Manrique's spectacular house now converted into a museum is well worth a visit. We went with our kids (10 and 12) and they really enjoyed it.

The house/museum was built in the middle of a lava field so the views from the windows are incredibly interesting, but it's the house itself which is such a joy. Manrique clearly had a passion for life and it's reflected in his house.

Our kids loved the staff where the house was built into the volcanic bubbles, creating underground rooms and passages which make it feel like a Bond villain's lair.

Upstairs the house is full of Manrique's art and objects from his life. Plus holes in the floor everywhere looking down to the lower level!!

We were there for under an hour but without kids, you could easily spend more time there. There's a small shop selling Manrique items, a small cafe and toilets.

Beautiful house and beautiful experience. Museum, however, could have done a slightly better job on presenting the information on the artist.

Decided as we where in town to visit here!
We got a taxi from PDC which was simple enough. 23 euros.
Paid out entrance fee and had a lovely walk around the grounds.
Lots here about the artist as you wander around.
Great chilled out place.

A wonderful excursion to see a very unusual house built on a lava River partially underground in lava bubbles, created by Ceasar Manrique in the 1960s as his home, and now housing his foundation, artifacts and museum exhibitions. Definitely worth a visit if you are interested in ecological and sustainable architecture and also for some home inspiration!!!

Amazing! This house left me absolutely speechless. The idea. The genius behind of it. I didn't know César Manrique and 10 mins into the visit I was already reading everything about him. A marvellous visionary who LIVED inside the art. Totally worth of it!

This is a must visit on your stay at Lanzarote.
Cesar shaped the island with his vision and ethics.

The price is €10, very reasonable.

We spent about 1,5 hours walking around and taking it all in.

His life is very well displayed with stories, photos and videos.

Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful location and spent a good few hours going through this. It was also an exhibition on with all the photos from the family album which was nice. Really nice location with lots of photo opportunities. Price was really cheap also for what you get to see.

This was the first attraction we went to see and we are glad that we did so because here you can read about Cesars way of thinking and developing the other attractions that he constructed.

My recommendation is to see it first if you can.

Cesar was such a visionary that his work looks modern even today, 40 to 50 years after it was made.

The place is very nice and his ideas about the pool and rooms in the lower level of the house are extraordinary.
