Cigar Factory Tours

Well worth a visit to the Upmann cigar factory the guide was very good and knowledgeable. No photos on the factory floor allowed, only in the lobby

One of the highlights of my trip! I don't smoke cigars, but I found the Partagas cigar factory a fascinating place to visit. It is housed in an old building with an interior atrium. The smell is amazing and to watch the cigar being hand rolled is so interesting to watch. Side note: Cohiba is the only brand of cigars in Cuba started after the revolution. It was created at the request of Fidel Castro. The local Indians rolled tobacco leaves into what they called "Cohiba" and the rolled leaves were stuffed into the pipe called a "Tobago".

This factory makes Tobaccos, one of the biggest industry of Cuba, and proceed on the procedure after delivered from farmers of leaves. We can learn and watch all procedure to make Tobacco. it's so rarely and amazing.

There is no ticket control or counter. So before we would be here, we had to bought a prepaid ticket in order to enter and see around the factory.
The ticket maybe sells at most big Hotels through tour agencies travel or company offices.

Staffs proceed on different procedures at individual floors and rooms. cf) pull out the stem -> delivery upper floor -> shaping toward Tobacco.
In the end of tour, we can buy Tobaccos in local price.
All spending tour time is less than 30 minutes.

Very interesting Tour. Definitely a must do in Havana!

It is a great place to see how cigars are made. Make sure you are able to walk several flights of stairs because there isn't an elevator option. I believe the factory makes about five of the cigars the company make but there isn't an option to buy there. There is a store just a short walk away where you can purchase both cigars and rum. Our tour guide was great and wouldn't mind going again.

Wow. What can I say. A cigar lovers paradise. What history! Good cigar shop as well. Remember that there is always some room for negotiation. Try some of the local (non export) cigars.
