W Costa Rica - Reserva Conchal

We stayed at W Reserva Conchal January 7-17. The accommodations were luxurious, well-maintained and beautiful. We enjoyed the beautiful adult-only pool, walks on the uncrowded beach, and the outstanding service from every staff member we interacted with. We ate the breakfast buffet each morning and it was delicious and filled with healthy options. Jeffrey, the concierge, was especially helpful and set us up with some wonderful reservations. We also enjoyed meals at each of the resort’s restaurants; again, the food was delicious and healthy. The location of the resort is a bit remote, but we loved the quiet beautiful setting and didn’t mind the transportation to see some sights outside the resort. One highlight was seeing a family of about 20 howling monkeys one morning as we walked to the beach. We highly recommend this resort.

My family and I have been to dozens of Bonvoy properties and this is the best! The Manager Ayesha emailed me before our trip for any special requests. I told her it was my wife’s birthday. When we arrived we had a birthday cake in the room.She later sought me out on the property to meet me in person and to make sure we didn’t need anything. Totally unheard of!
Everyone was sooo nice! The resort is very clean a beautiful! The breakfast buffet is insane and a perk for platinum members.
The manager Olger, the hostess Daniela and the servers Jonathan, Dariem and Jorge were very professional.
I would definitely come back!

I just had to tell you about our incredible vacation at this hotel! It was like stepping into paradise. The view was breathtaking; I felt like I was in heaven with the clear ocean and the pristine beach. The entire place was like a jungle, such a surreal experience. But what truly made our stay unforgettable was the exceptional service. I've never felt so pampered in my life; I was treated like royalty!
Oh, and it was my daughter's fourth birthday during our stay, and the hotel staff went above and beyond to make it magical for her. From the sweet morning surprise with a birthday pillow to the personalized coloring book and the special unicorn-themed cake – every little detail was just perfect. The restaurants, the child care, everything was so considerate. I can't express how thoughtful and kind everyone was. It was more than a vacation; it was a dream come true. I would give them 100 out of 100 without a doubt. We miss it already; my daughter even cried when we had to leave. We're already planning our next visit; that's how amazing it was!

What a special place to spend a few nights! We attended a wedding next door at the Westin and stayed onsite at the W after reading such positive reviews and could not be happier with our decision!

The property is beautiful — highly walkable, with a spectacular, quiet beach, and excellent amenities. The “spectacular ocean escape king” room was spacious and had great views, a cool walk in double shower that opened to the patio space, and plenty of space for two people to spread out.

Food and service onsite is exceptional. We enjoyed everything we ate, from casual poolside tacos to a lovely tasting menu at Latitude 10, and each server we encountered was friendly, addressed us by name, and went above and beyond in kindness and professionalism.

We would come back in a heartbeat! Small tip, we stuck to the adults only pool for the first few days thinking the beach club might be crowded, but the ocean view and ample cabanas were amazing at the beach club and we regretted not going sooner!

I stayed here in Jan 2024 and I had an incredible experience. We came here from Arenal and so the roads to get to the hotel felt a little narrow (single-lane roads, sometimes paved, and one was flooded) so we were a little skeptical until we saw the signs for Westin/W and knew we had chosen well. The grounds were impeccable and the staff are incredibly helpful and kind.

We booked a beach-view room with beautiful end-to-end views of Playa Conchal. It felt unreal to wake up each morning to the sun peaking through and the ocean right in front of us.

I saw some reviews talking about the food, but I enjoyed everything I ordered here. It will be pricier and more of a fusion style but it was tasty and delicious (and perhaps to be expected from a US-based hotel chain). You can also go off the property for other options. Would HIGHLY recommend having a car when in Costa Rica. They have free valet service here too.

The hotel supplies beach chairs and towels and plenty of water stations throughout the grounds. I highly enjoyed my time here and would recommend this stay to others!

Seriously the W should stand for Wow because my husband and I had the absolute BEST time here at W Reserva Conchal for our honeymoon. This resort speaks for itself in its beauty. The grounds and the rooms were stunning and very well kept. We loved the open concept of the hotel and loved the 2 different pools. It’s easy access to the beach with just a short 5 min walk or 30 second golf cart ride provided by the staff. If you’re still reading this review…good because the best part about this resort is the staff! They truly made the experience exceptional and we are already planning to return in the near future. The staff remembers your name to make it feel more personal. Isaac and Carlos at the front desk made check-in and check-out so easy. Gregory was wonderful with the golf cart rides. Jamie at the Zona Azul was so lovely and attentive. Serelyn at Zona Azul restaurant was the sweetest and made dinner very special for us. literally everyone always had a smile on their faces. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff. Food was a little expensive but it was all delicious (we expected the prices knowing we were at a luxury resort). My husband played golf, the course was stunning, was probably the most beautiful we’ve seen. The staff was amazing as well. Joshua made sure to make our golf day spectacular! Last thing, this hotel was hosting a work event the days we were visiting but it never once felt overcrowded. We 100% recommend this resort if you are looking for a laidback, luxury vacation with delicious food and beautiful views!

Loved everything about this place, and our stay here was fantastic. I hated to leave. Stayed in a treehouse room with a great view and loved the shower. It's nice that they have the golf carts to get you around as we went back and forth from the main area to Zona Azul and the beach. All of the food we had at the resort was great. We also took part in the mixology class, which was a lot of fun! It's nice that the resort offers different activities. Would love to come back!

We just love this hotel...this was our 4th stay and it only gets better with age! First off, it is beautiful and has everything you need for a relaxing visit. The food is fantastic and the team is so warm and genuinely kind and friendly (standouts include Rocia, Rosa, Melissa, Carina, Miguel, Jonathan and Gerardo in Mercato; Berenice and Victor at Wet Deck; Jeffrey at concierge; and Chef Wilfred! And many more as well, they have a fantastic team.) The location is great because in the Reserva you can hike and enjoy nature, and the resort is located just a few minutes from cute towns with good restaurants and things to do (Brasilito & Flamingo). We've only had wonderful stays and will definitely return, it's our favorite vacation spot!!

I am writing this as I am leaving the resort. I stayed here Jan. 11-14 and everything was perfect! This resort has the most amazing service and the sweetest workers. Everyone remembers your name and was so helpful. This is a beautiful resort and the beach is too. It’s quite a walk to get to the beach but they have carts available to drive you around. Special shout out to the Wheeler guys - Manny, David, George, Dauven and Mauricio! They’ll take you anywhere you want on the resort at anytime as they operate 24 hours.

I also had the all-inclusive package which I think was worth it. That gave me access to the Westin next door and I went there for dinner one night.

If you’re looking for a nice and modern resort with amazing service then the W is it!

Fab resort. Rooms were amazing, stylish, cool and comfortable. The resort is superb in the middle of a forest with wildlife all around. Golf carts take you anywhere you want to go. The beach it sits on is supposedly the nicest in CR. Great spa and gym. Flawless resort.

And the staff is all super nice. Jaime, Lucy and Edward in Zona Azul were talked about endlessly by my 4 year old son after how kind they were to him. And Danny in the golf cart always showed us the wildlife and gave us loads of tips.

Really a special resort. The setting, the people, the facilities. Highly recommend.

First time to Costa Rica.

Epitome of a vacation spot with great views of the beach / ocean. ALL staff mbrs are courteous and remember your name from the first time they meet you.

When booking adventures through Safari Travels (located on resort grounds but independent of Marriott), ENSURE staff have thoroughly explained adventure and have booked it (staff mbr failed to do such and we got kicked off an adventure despite paying for it).

Did not stay at the W but visited the resort for a couples massage.

The space was stunning and the spa itself was great. After your treatment, there is a small pool and hot tub by some cabanas you can enjoy.

Do note that using the spa does not grant you access to the main resort and pools- a day pass is required.

My wife and I loved our stay here. The good vibes started with our email exchange with Sheirys and Ashlie at the W resort before our trip. They were exceptionally helpful in assisting us with planning our stay, excursions and dining options both inside and outside the resort. Sheirys was at the front desk at our arrival and greeted us as if we were long time friends! We felt so welcomed by all the staff we encountered each day during our stay. Gustavo would take us to/from our hotel room and the hotel lobby and was so pleasant and professional. The staff all had a warm smile and the highest level of hospitality. The service was consistent throughout the entire trip. The food at the restaurant was excellent. We especially liked latitude 10 Norte. The food was delicious! Also, they helped us with arranging transportation as needed. The room was very spacious and we loved the huge rain fall shower. The hotel had howler monkeys that are around the resort which added to our experience. We were lucky enough to see the howler monkeys while eating lunch at their beach cafe! The night of our departure Sheirys made sure to connect with us both in email and when she saw us in the lobby to wish us well and thanked us for our stay. Definitely would recommend this resort and stay here again.

There’s nothing negative from this resort ! The service the hotel are super amazing ! Milena from check in did an awesome job to get me accommodated to an awesome room . I love how the staff remembers your by your name . Can you imagine having hundreds of guest and many of the staff remember you by your name when they see you ?! The food was amazing the drinks were just as good ! The views were to die for !

We have stayed in Marriotts all over the world and we LOVED this hotel. The location and decor was stunning. The food was amazing and the staff was top notch. The beach was one of the prettiest in Costa Rica. Anything we wanted the staff took care of immediately including reservations, golf cart rides along the property, and chairs/umbrellas on the beach. They offer paddle boards, boogie boards, and snorkels free of charge. We also appreciated the 18 and up pool for a more peaceful experience. The view from our room was spectacular with a beautiful sunset at night. It was truly a five star experience from start to finish. We hope to visit again one day.

This is, by far, the BEST hotel we’ve ever been to (and we’ve been to quite a few very nice hotels) It’s like heaven on Earth. The location/grounds are truly incredible. The food is absolutely amazing. The restaurants change their menu based on the day and each experience is unique. The staff, though, made our experience unforgettable. Jonathan greeted us with incredible enthusiasm. Shayrees and Jeffrey were our ambassadors for our trip. Daniel, Samantha, Morgan, Stephanie, Fabiola. Maria, Alex, Manuel, Carlos (El Guapo), and Carlos the bartender, Glenda (the good witch), Alex and Mauricio (super hero), and Rosa are all our best friends in Costa Rica. And, the person who was in charge, Juan Diego, was the most gracious host and wonderful friend. You HAVE to stay here . If you stay anywhere else, you’ll regret it!!!

Excellent get away. The resort has everything you could possibly need. Whatever you want to do is just a quick golf cart ride away. Awesome restaurants and service. Views and beach access are incredible.

Nothing but perfect to me. Beach is flawless, room views and balcony is perfection, staff is fabulous.
The hotel is pretty far away from entry point, 7min. But worth it.

I loved staying at this hotel!! The staff is incredible and they are always wanting to make you feel comfortable! When you get a massage ask for Ernesto, he gave me the best massage of my life!!!

100/10 best vacation I have EVER experienced. This place will have your cheeks hurting from the constant smiling the staff will bring you. I have never met such incredibly friendly staff, I felt like I was family staying here. I recommend the all-inclusive package as it is COMPLETELY worth it to splurge on the delicious food and cocktails. The desk staff including Issac and Stephanie are the sweetest and most accommodating people. We had an excellent fine dinning experience in the lower floor restaurant. EVERYONE providing service, the bartender, food runner, waiter, hostess, all addressing us on a first name basis was absolutely the cherry on top. The transportation around the resort (even though it is 100% walkable) was so quick and easy. Those small things like not having to walk around made the experience even better. Sergio, Gustavo and all the other transporters made every ride a memorable time even though they only lasted about 30 seconds each ride. Security made us feel extremely comfortable especially Christopher who stayed with us when we wanted to go on the beach at midnight and swim. The bartenders Chris, Chris #2, and Marlo are some of the best I’ve ever had! The cocktail’s were so tasty and they even liked to experiment on drinks with us and they were absolutely AMAZING. I don’t think this bar could give out a bad drink ever, (and that’s coming from a bartender). All of the wait staff were so kind and patient with us (because we were all over the place as we were a large group). The restaurant manager Olgar made us feel so special there and nothing was an inconvenience. The concierge Jeffry was there to help with anything we needed. I would recommend this place to everyone I know. I can’t wait to come back and see all the staff that I now consider my friends. They must know how special they made this experience. :)
