Soda La Perla

The food here is extremely good. If I lived here, this is where I'd go for lunch the most. Cosado, quesadillas, ceviche all were good. Really inexpensive and really fresh. Cash only. Definitely helps to know some Spanish, but menus are in both English and Spanish.

I've lived at Soda la Perla for the past ten weeks as a student at Intercultura which means I've eating here twice a day for the past two months, and I can wholeheartedly say that it's some of the best food here in Samara, especially for the price. They have great vegetarian options and a simple but perfect breakfast. The whole family runs the restaurant and you can't beat the vibes.

Love this place!!! Already went 2 days in a row for lunch. The place is very clean and cute inside, huge portions and cheapest meals we’ve had in Costa Rica. The veggie Casado (only 3000 colones!) and the rice with Hawaiian shrimp were delicious. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic meal for cheap!!

This place is awesome. Delicious food, great prices and a cute soda feel. We’re only in Samara for a few days and have already gone twice (and will likely go again). Highly recommend.

I would suggest taking some of the negative reviews with a grain of salt. This is a "soda" serving "comida típica" not a 5 star restaurant. You don't go to a hotdog cart and then complain about the lack of choices of vegetarian options. Manage your expectations and enjoy it for what it, don't complain about what it is not.

Incredible food - some of the best (if not the best we've had in Costa Rica!) super fresh, local spot with vats of salsa picante. Nana was a bit mardy but we'll let her off, it's New Years Day.

Tiny soda at the end of the beach. Everything tastes fresh and homemade. We got the chicken in salsa.

Great local soda. Ceviche was good, smoothies were good. Coffee was good. Prices good. Very chill, down to earth traditional place to eat.

We loved it! Fresh, tasty and great service. The shrimp quesadillas were our favourite. Make sure to order the fruit drinks without sugar.

Awesome soda, SUPER affordable prices and right by the beach! HUGE portions but we were super hungry and actually ate it all hahhaha. Everything was in Spanish but I had my translator book so I was good. This is a true Costs Rican dining experience and we will definitely be back!

For local flavor in Costa Rica you can't beat a soda, the unpretentious cafes that serve up Costa Rican specialities. La Perla was near our hotel in Playa Sámara. It has a gravel floor and a friendly atmosphere. I had the chicken and salad plate while my wife got the chalupa. I also got the watermelon, papaya and pineapple smoothie. A great restaurant run by great people. The best meal we had in Sámara. A stone's throw from the beach.

Best soda in Samara. Decent prices of food and beverages. I enjoyed their shrimps with rice ( lots of shrimps) and their cassado with fish fillet.

Tucked away near the beach, this little gem has delicious food and great fruit juices all at reasonable price!
