Leyenda Boutique Hotel & Spa

We were in Costa Rica on a family vacation for the first time this past February. Our home away from home was the incredible Leyenda Boutique Hotel & Spa. It’s just a quick 15-minute drive from the lively town of Samara and an even shorter drive from the breathtaking Playa Carrillo!

Costa Rica is a slice of paradise with endless treasures to be explored! The Pacific Ocean stole our hearts with its majestic beauty and warm waters. One day we had a swim alongside graceful pelicans – it was truly magical.

The crew at the Leyenda is absolutely amazing! Everyone was genuinely kind and friendly, and always accommodating; we were treated like royalty. Our cozy room with a charming terrace was a perfect retreat amidst the lush greenery. The hotel’s territory is exceptionally well maintained and very beautiful!

The hotel boasts 2 swimming pools that are just the right amount of relaxation and fun, and were never overcrowded. Oh, and the restaurant – the food was super delicious, great variety on the menu, tuna tartar was my favorite for lunch! and you can’t go wrong with fish for dinner.

Such a magical place. The pools were glorious. Beautiful landscaping. The rooms were very clean, spacious and fancy. The free breakfast was delicious. Roger at the front desk was very nice.

We did not stay on property, we did the day pass option. At $20US/person, with $10 bar credit, great value to use the pool for the day from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Highly recommend if looking for a relaxing pool day.

We had a wonderful stay at Leyenda Hotel, it is very clean with lovely grounds and the pools are fab, and much needed. The restaurant serves delicious food and the prices are not bad for a hotel. We would love to come and stay again.

Lovely hotel near Playa Carillo. The food was delicious and plentiful. The staff was extremely attentive.

I don't know why this is a 4-star hotel. This hotel should be a 5-star. Both pools here are amazing, and the food is great. Would recommend.

Very nice service, 8 minutes from Playa Carillo beach and when your are on the beach, you can also use the code locked bathroom and beachbeds via the hotel, all included.

The landscape, pools, and gardens are beautiful. The service is exceptional, and the mattress is excellent. The restaurant serves great food, and the chairs on the beach are a nice touch. Great coffee.

What a little gem! We really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms were beautifully updated, very clean and we were happy with the pool right in front of our room. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Definitely visit the restaurant. I expected a “pizzeria” but it’s a wonderful restaurant and the tuna steak was fantastic. Their gardens and pools are gorgeous. I wished I’d stay longer

In contrast to other hotels smoking is still not banned in the hotel's garden. Please 🚭

Very kind and helpful staff, they spoke English fairly well. The food in the restaurant and by the pool was amazing, and so were the cocktails. We had a very nice luxurious and clean room with airconditioning. We had a wonderful stay.

What an experience! From the minute we sat down, we were treated like gold by the waitstaff. The service was impeccable. The dinner we ordered was beyond my expectations. Everything was clearly the highest quality and super fresh. This restaurant is a great step above the others. I will definitely be back.

The area is accessible and the restaurant attached had amazing food and drinks. All in all, it was a perfect way to ring in the new year. If you’re looking to get away from the craziness of more touristy areas come.here.

An absolute gem of a hotel. From the moment we walked in Roger at the desk made us feel welcome and everyone in the dining room and bar was absolutely kind and hospitable. The pool even has quite a vibe for a small hotel. They will shuttle you back and forth from Playa Carrillo and the Private bathrooms for hotel guests are super clean. The Wifi was strong enough I could work a few days while on vacation. A great place to stay - HIGHLY recommend.

I went to Hotel Leyenda expecting to stay only one day. I stayed 4. I took advantage of the horse tour (5 stars) and a massage (3 stars) that reception helps organize. Foodwise: the dijon chicken and mashed potatoes was great, the shrimp was great, the juices were great, the pasta was very filling and flavorful. The property was very pretty and although there was work being done, it wasn't disruptive. The pool was nice, the beach gorgeous and the beach shuttle was always available when I needed. The staff were amazing- extremely helpful as I had no plans and had no idea what to do/how to travel. They ultimately organized my travel back to San José. The only point I would note is that this is *not* in the town of Samara. It's a few minutes away from a quieter beach called Playa Carillo. If you don't have your own transport that might present a challenge, but the staff is very helpful at helping arrange transportation. The wifi in my room went out once but the general area wifi remained on. I would definitely return on my next getaway, but have my own personal transport to get in/out of samara quickly.

The place is super clean! And it was full when we got there, no wonder why. We were so sad and the staff took us on a little tour of the place, it’s huge, family friendly, it has 3 very nice pools, delicious foods on a very nice restaurant, the staff is very nice! It’s very secure, it has a guard and cameras all over the place. They offer a shuttle to the beach every 2 hours with a guy dedicated to be on the beach taking care of your belongings, also with a mobile bathroom and shower in case you need it. It’s just fantastic. 100% recommended

Fortunately we live nearby and can enjoy their wonderful meals, whether lunch or dinner, often.

Beautiful little hotel in the countryside, close to Playa Carrillo. Lush gardens, nice swimming pools 3 or 4 in fact! Great food, friendly attentive staff, comfortable clean room. Definitely coming back here!

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise for me and my family. From the rooms / to the pools, everything was very good. I recommend it 100%. The price is fair, the food and the attention very good.
