La Catrina Tequila and Grill (Sámara)

La Catrina is all the feels! Beginning from outside to inside the vibe is warm, cozy, friendly and eclectic. The margaritas & lobster tacos are phenomenal!! I’d give more stars but I guess five is tops. La Catrina far exceeds a good night out. We plan on going back today with the kids so they can swim & eat as well. Love, love, love. Carla is awesome!! SO GLAD I STAYED HERE 🎉🎉🎉 the food is great. The staff is better. The pool is heaven and it might be the best place to be in Samara. Totally coming back. Very helpful. I love the tacos. Get the shrimp or chicken. But I’m gonna try them all. This place is special.

Wonderful mixology options, local artisan beer and of course the food! Their basic chips and salsas are a great start and their lobster tacos are, simply, a must. Great service too. Highly recommended!

We celebrated my fiance‘s birthday at La Catrina. The staff was very nice. The lobster tacos were delicious, so were the burritos. With the dinner we had a wonderful bottle of white wine. The evening started and ended with tequila (the good stuff). Alltogether, a wonderful night, thank you so much!

Great food and service!! Definitely recommend the Baja Lobster Tacos!! Great wait staff, English speaking and lovely ambiance. Will definitely go back again.

Absolutely loved this place!! Was studying abroad in Samara and went here several times with friends as well as family. Service was exceptional, food was SO good, and I highly recommend you get the guac!! You can't go wrong with their menu. I love their Quesadillas, their burritos + tacos were also delicious. They have the best mojitos I've ever had, as well as margaritas. I will miss this place tremendously!

Great food and great staff! The lobster tacos are really good and they have some great margaritas along with a good selection of tequilas. Looking forward to coming back someday.

One of the best set of tacos in my entire life! So tasty, and one of the best meals we've had on our vacation in Costa Rica. Great service, and reasonably priced. Great ambience, cool music, and super tasty food. Hoping to come back for dinner before we leave.

Incredible food and experience. Our drinks were so well made. They brought out a range of handmade salsas. The appetizers were large and delicious. I am having such a good time I’m starting this even before our lobster tacos come out! Our waiter, Roy is just the best. You can tell he takes pride in all the details of their sauces, drinks and meals.

And now the lobster tacos are here and they’re just as great.

Just had a great meal full of flavor and originality with excellent staff. Very enjoyable evening! Chef Gary came out to check on tables to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal and Carla was a great host put in 100% effort to make sure your evening went well! Highly recommend!

Wow. Just wow. I read the reviews knew we had to try this place. It exceeded our expectations so much I had to leave a review.

We were skeptical with the prices being a bit higher than average, but portion sizes did not disappoint. We ordered chipotle shrimp tacos, came with 3 massive tacos covered in a mouth water sauce and cheese. A chile con carne quesadilla that was large enough to feed a small army. The tequila mussels (wow) and beef tacos on corn. We prefer the flour to corn tortillas as they held together better.

Service was attentive and friendly. The manager is the sweetest woman and keeps the place running smoothly. The chef was a one woman show and is so phenomenal at her job I could kiss her!!!!! (I won’t, but I could!!!)

The drinks. Wow. The drinks. Jalapeño mango margaritas, get ready to drink 5 minimum.

Eat here. Seriously. You won’t be disappointed. If you are, then something is seriously wrong with you.

The place was cool and the food is some of the best in Samara. Our group ordered had the menu and didn't regret any of the choices. Top class cubre libres and cocktails. Go for the ribs and fish tacos. You wont be disappinted.

We had a wonderful time and a delicious meal at La Catrina. Carla and the team made us feel at home, the ambiance was great and the food was made from fresh ingredients and made for a flavourful meal. We recommend the grill chipotle fish quesadilla and the generous plate of nachos. You also have to try the pineapple & jalapeño margaritas, an awesome unexpected combination!

I almost never rate anything but this place was awesome. Great vibe and atmosphere. The tacos were AMAZING, and the service was fantastic. Definitely my favorite restaurant in Samara.

Well a great place to hangout, food is excellent, the cheese cake is to die for had a sirloin steak one night, excellent. And Steve's music is phenomenally fun. Wine and staff fantastic.

Unbelievable! We have lived in Samara for 10+ years and we really do have some incredible restaurants and sosas, and La Catrina only adds to that legacy.

We have had US friends visiting each of the last 3 weeks and each visit to La Catrina has resulted in rave reviews from our friends and guests .

Whether a full time resident, a part time resident or a visitor - La Catrina is definitely a place you want to visit, at least once then you will be hooked!!!

In less than a month, other Samara restaurants started selling the tequila-tipped margaritas - La Catrina has had, and will continue to have, a real impact on the already great Samara restaurant scene!!!

Another highlight of our vacation ... Great staff, delicious menu and lovely atmosphere! I highly recommend the mojitos, tostadas, chili con carne and sweet pumpkin ... Thanks a lot for this flavor experience!

Food and drinks are great.

Plain margarita is incredible. 2x1 drinks until 7 pm although the schedule changes based Covid restrictions.

I do not think there is another restaurant like this one.
The care and authenticity of each meal shows Chef Gary's abilities to give you an eating experience you won't forget.

Don't let this restaurant pass you by.
