Ancient People

We stopped here for breakfast, it was fresh & delicious, I had breakfast burrito & my husband had the American breakfast, orange juice was freshly squeezed, coffee was delicious, the service was excellent & the owner was very friendly & nice., the ambiance is so relaxing ,too bad that the gift shop was closed that day, it looked very nice.

This place is a gem! We ordered the Burger, ceviche, palm of hearts salad Ginger lemon drink. Everything was SO fresh and delicious. We absolutely love the atmosphere and services at Ancient People. My husband and I visited ancient people on our honeymoon 8 years ago and this place just got better! Thank you for your hospitality and delicious food!

The banana pancakes are to die for. Great food, beautiful setting as you sit in a garden surrounded by jungle plants. You have the option of sitting under a covered area in the shade or being shaded naturally by the vegetation. Reasonably priced and two adorable chihuahuas greeting you as you arrive.

What an amazing little hidden gem. Absolutely fantastic food and you've got to check out the shop. beautiful designer items like Johnny wass and 7 for all mankind!

i have eaten here numerous times on my trips to san juanillo and nosara and the food is consistently excellent. i love the smoothies, salads, and wraps, as well as the casado plates. the gluten free pancakes are delicious and don’t leave me with the heavy feeling that i get from many gluten-free foods. all of the ingredients are high quality and the food is always cooked perfectly. you can tell that a lot of care goes into this place.

Delicious food! Owner/ Operators are very careful about the products they serve - organic ingredients and grass fed meats. Our kind of place! They have seawater lemonade! Most unique beverage I’ve ever had!

Great local restaurant to stop before or after the beach, since it is in walking distance.
The food is great, plenty of options, outdoor seating, free wifi for travelers which I really appreciated.

I purchased a scarf from there and everyone always asks where I got it from, it is the most beautiful color yellow with smoked out design.

A lovely little oasis. I had the ceviche, which was perfect. The orange juice was fresh squeezed, cold and tart. I stole quite a bit of my son's strawberry lemonade, which is definitely what I'm getting next time. The rest of the menu looked great too.

First off: The Owner's Are The Nicest People In Costa Rica. Best people and would do anything for anyone.
The food is well priced for the value. It is So Healthy and Delish! The smoothies are the best. The cacao! Omg. They harvest it locally and it is so fresh.
The fish Casado!!!! Made me Crave the fish casado.

I don't like Fallafal. Once I tried this fallafal plate--Omg. Love it.
The Vegetarian Lasagna has my friends in Boston coming back with big hugs! The best.
All in all, the mango tree, atmosphere--chill vibe has this place the local hang out for real locals like me. When you want good food, great people and healthy affordable offerings--this is the go to place.

They are closed on Wednesday so that is a sad day. Love this place!!!!

Just so you know there are not a lot spot around San Juanillo to eat. We stopped here as the first option we found. A very nice and relaxed spot owned by an friendly Egyptian that enjoys living in Costa Rica. We arrived in the morning and had breakfast. A couple friends ordered the option with Gallo pinto and they liked it a lot. I got the omelette (toppings like mushrooms, egg and bacon are not included so you hace to order them as extras) on toast with lettuce and tomato and I really liked it. They make their own hot sauce and it's quite nice, not very hot but adds flavor. For drinking I ordered an iced cold coffee which was quite good (they use an espresso machine to brew it). The owner swears he make great falafel so we are looking forward to come back for lunch

Great food matched with incredible people. I highly recommend their homemade ice cream. Mahi does incredible work if you're in search of a meaningful and unique tattoo from an artist that can only be described as a tattoo shaman rather than a tattoo artist! Good food, great tattoos, and authentically amazing people!

We totally loved this place. After some hours at the beach we came by Ancient People and drawn to it on the way back.
We were expecting just another "soda" but entered in diner with restaurant worthy food.
Nothing too exotic or higly aimed but prepared the best way possible.
Nice balance between meat and vegetarian (and also vegan) options.
Local ingredients have their major part in it and if any bistro/diner I have been to is allowed to say it is prepared "with love", this is the place. And they don't say it...but just do it.

Best burger ever! Truly! Order it with the freshly cooked fries, then a paleta for dessert. Everything in the shop next door is to die for as well. Best clothing options on the beach, hands down!

My favourite place in San Juanillo – great choice of food, kind and honest staff, great music, lovely ambience and atmosphere. Highly recommended. Try the cheesecake, it'll make you want to cry.
