Buddha Hotel & Restaurant

We have been there often for lunch or dinner, so I can only talk about the restaurant, not the hotel.
The staff is kind and the food was always excellent - especially the chicken fingers and the cassado! |👍 Prices are a bit high, but that's maybe because of the location - a lot of rough roads to get there!
Pizza is good, but very expensive! The Pizza is large, but is costs 12500 colonnes which is about 23 US Dollars! In general pizza is expensive in Costa Rica, but who's going to Costa Rica to eat pizza? 😉

If you find yourself near this hotel, you MUST stop! They have the kindest staff, amazing food and drinks and the rooms are comfortable, clean and well kept. The grounds are immaculate too. We got caught in a rainstorm and stayed the night and it was one of the best decisions we made! We are so lucky to have found this place. I recommend the ceviche for dinner. The passion fruit margarita and passion fruit cheesecake is AMAZING! I still have dreams about how perfectly delicious it was. Their breakfast is yummy too! Definitely a highlight of our trip and working with Andrea was so lovely!

We got so lucky finding this place. We'd made other arrangements a beach away that fell through and looked up their sign as we passed (great signage). We were welcomed warmly, shown a room that met our criteria and we were delighted. I will post photos. The grounds are beautiful, the pool was inviting and the restaurant is attached and the chef is amazing. Staff are super friendly (English isn't strong but they taught me a trick on my phone) and the owner/ manager Roger is heaven sent. Thank you for your Marines service, Sir 🫡. Our only regret was that we had to move on the next day. The place was relaxing and also fun. The beach there is also amazing and not at all busy. We couldn't believe our luck. 10/10 recommend. *Travel tip* Calling them directly as opposed to using a secondary sight (Expedia, Booking, etc) can save you at least %15. Also if you love Christmas, they're ready for you!!!

Spacious rooms, secure parking, lovely staff, and great food. This is the perfect spot if you want a comfortable stay in San Juanillo. Less than 5 minutes walking to the beach, other restaurants, and shops. Roger also let us leave our car in the parking lot after check-out while we went to explore the beach. Would stay here again!

AMAZING! This place is the perfect getaway. The road here was beautiful, the views are amazing. Once arriving, we were greeted by a very kind and attentive staff. We were guided to the parking lot and walked over to our rooms.

Regarding the restaurant, the food is delicious. I have two very picky sons and the chef was able to accommodate the plates to their liking. They have a variety of drinks and we were always greeted with a plate of delicious fruit!

Now the rooms, wow! Let start off with the shower. It feels like rainfall. The room was very clean, spacious and comfy. The AC gets very cold! Which is perfect to cuddle in at night.

The pool is well kept and very clean. The staff again is very attentive to your needs! Anything you need you can ask the ladies and they will always serve you with a welcoming smile. My two year old was very impatient while we were having the dinner and the lovely waitress took him for a walk while I ate, which was amazing!

Awesome food, excellent service, cool vibe, outdoor beautiful patio… as good as it gets!
We are from LA and based on past reviews, we went to a different restaurant in San Juanillo last week, that really just ended up being a glorified sports bar.
To us, Buddha is hands down, the best restaurant in San Juanillo. Outdoor patio with string lights, super clean and authentic. Highly recommend the pizza, and the whole fish was great too.
If they had chill lounge/house music, this place would become legendary.
This is our new spot.

Roger Morales has outdone himself. This place has been remodeled and added cabinas and modern bathrooms. Come for dinner, stay the night or longer. The beach in San Juanillo is one of the better beaches in Costa Rica! Buddha is very cool and beautiful. The restaurant is extremely clean and the staff are as nice as they are beautiful. The menu has seafood, burgers, salads and vegetarian options. Cooked on site and very delicious. This is the only place in the area with such class. Enjoy!

Food was amazing!! Place was clean! People were so nice to us, excellent service. I have no more words to describe this. Roger, the owner was so nice, he made a huge difference in our stay here. Go to San Juanillo first then here, just perfect. :)

We ate at the restaurant and the food was wonderful! They have a good selection of vegetarian options as well as regular options. Food was very very fresh. The road to get to the restaurant is dicy, but worth it!

#5 that’s our bungalow of choice every time we come that is where we stay. Never had a bad meal or a problem with our stay everything was delightful!!!

This place is amazing. I love it so much. I live nearby and when I have visitors--I help them get a room here. The owner is wonderful. Roger the manager is amazing. Javier, Josalyn and the people that work there treat you like royalty. They are all so sweet and helpful. The food is really good. The sandia/watermelon mojito is the best. Love it so much. The fried snapper is divine but get a large size. The food is super good and amazing prices. The rooms are good size, clean, new and awesome AC. You can walk to the two most amazing beaches with snorkeling and fishing. The water is super clear and this is the best area of Costa Rica. It is wonderful to have this amazing gem of a hotel, cafe and bar right in our little town. I always have my guests stay @ The Buddha!

My wife and I spent a week in Nosara and then decided to continue north. We knew about Buddha but never tried it before. We called and spoke to Roger and he got us a great deal for two nights all inclusive. We got there late afternoon even though San Juanillo is 20 minutes from nosara had to catch some more waves. we checked in jumped in the pool to freshen up before dinner. The food was great and so was the service during our entire stay. There are two separate beaches you can access by a 5 minute walk. We took an ATV ride, was fun (my wife didnt like it too much) . Overall the stay was great and will return again. Thank you for a great stay you guys.

Great little hotel in a great coastal village. The staff is kind and the facilities are nice. The manager lived in the states for a long time. He is completely fluent in English and super helpful. They are not at all set up for stays longer than a week though.

Very nice place in a small village in Costa Rica 10 min wall to the ocean/beach.

Extremely friendly staff and well decorated restaurant with free wifi.
Restaurant is walking distance to beach, can order take away and bring with you, food does take an odd while to be prepared.
