Ghost Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area is an absolute gem for a picturesque picnic stop. The lake, although man-made, boasts stunning teal-colored water, adding to its natural beauty. It's a perfect spot to soak up the summer vibes and enjoy quality time.

The view of the great Canadian Rockies from this area is nothing short of breathtaking. It's a fantastic opportunity to admire the grandeur of nature. Additionally, the beach area, covered in pebbles rather than sand, adds a unique touch to the landscape.

In summary, this place is amazing, offering a delightful blend of natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. A definite must-visit for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a serene escape. 🏞🍃🌊

Beautiful man-made lake perfect to enjoy a sunny day with water activities or just enjoy the view. Only 40 min ride from Calgary. This place has two boat launching ramps and plenty space for parking. There are picnic tables beside the lake. Also a campground available (no so much trees unfortunayely). The water is so beautiful and you can enjoy the cold water (!). Floating decks facilitate the access. Dogs are welcome. Cochrane is just 20 min away, so we decided to get dinner at The Greek Plate followed by the famous Cochrane ice cream MACKAYS (founded in 1948). Very good summer plan.

Beautiful spot for a quick stop of picnic. The lake, while man made, is gorgeous and has a nice teal color to the water.

Beautiful views and there are quite a few sites that are not right next to other people if you just want some peace and quiet.

This place is really amazing. We had no idea it is so close to Airdrie and Calgary.. but it's a ton of fun!

As others mentioned this is not a lake for beaches.. you go mostly for the water and some type of aquacraft is almost a must (even if just a tube to float). We have inflatables (kayak and paddleboard) and had no issues at all even with the various power boats and larger boats. The lake is plenty big enough for everyone.

The north side of the lake has a VERY hidden path that takes you up to an incredible plateau with a large meadow and you get awesome views of the lake, but the trails are partially closed so you have to double back to come back down - still absolutely worth it, maybe a 30m easy hike round trip.

South side of the lake is untouched land except for train tracks.. they come quite often but honestly it's kind of relaxing and nice. Not overly loud or anything.

East side of the lake is the dam and also a cottage development (very pricey) with the community boat launch nearby.

The parking lot on the northeast corner seems big.. but sometimes it is insanely busy. Parking attendants are in place at 9am and it gets busy fast, but from what we could tell boat launches are very quit.

Lastly there is an island on the south side of the lake.. it's hard to see from shore but it's there and it's amazing. Completely different vibe and an awesome stop for a picnic. Took us about 30m paddling each way.

Another excellent place for picnic, BBQ with friends and families, Boating, fishing and much more. NOT very far from Calgary. BBQ spots are available along with wooden banchs to sit and eat. If you forget to carry charcoal with you, don’t worry you can gather woods from nearby places

Ghost Lake serves as an amazing location for all sorts of activities. Boating and fishing during the summer, and believe it or not, Motorsport in the winter! A great community has come around Ghost Lake during the winter to create ice racings tracks for public use. Snowmobiles, dirt bikes, SXS, quads and anything with a motor is raced around the ice! But the main thing are the cars. It’s fun for all ages and types of drivers. Mini vans to Lamborghinis, this wonderful place will put a smile on your face!

We came off the road late but were able to find the perfect spot under some shade trees. We enjoyed a quiet evening and night and were on the road in the morning. Note: no showers and only crude bathrooms.

Safety first! Falling through the ice is no joke.

A fun place to swim and do watersports. Very family friendly and most dogs were off-leash. The beach area is pebbles instead of sand, which is nice because you don't end up with sand in every orifice. There are outhouse type washrooms and a faucet to wash your hands, but no soap. It's beautiful!

The new boat launch is so efficient, clean and easy to use! Even with over 300 people there on Saturday using the facilities, it was only a 20 minute wait for a slot to launch. Always recommend a day on Ghost!

I went there around at noon and there were more than 8? Spots there. People who go there are mostly one night camping. Sometimes you can get a good spot or in the middle of the ground but all the spots are similar and good. Sometimes a firewood truck comes by and you can buy it bundle of 10? Or 20 something. Prepare to bring cash to register at the registration box. Really freedom and most likely around 12 is starting to be quite. For young people i recommend.

The area is kept clean majority of the time. Washrooms are hosed down to help with the smell which isn't bad. Load in to the water is also well looked after. Great place to come hang out, camp and spend time on the water.

Very busy on the long weekend, parking lot was crazy, but the boats spread themselves out pretty good on the lake and was no problem.

Lots of people at the beach.
