Great stop for our trip and a cool experience. We saw groups, families, and solo travelers enjoying the sanctuary. We had Alex for our intro tour. She gave a fantastic presentation and has many years of experience with the dogs. The dogs are awesome and this place is a safe haven for them. Will do the interactive tour next time!
It was cold when we went in April and the wind was blowing every which way.

I took my partner here as a surprise and honestly, such a wonderful experience. It was both of our first times and the staff were very knowledgeable, friendly, and kind!
We booked for the interactive tour where you sit in an enclosure with the wolves and have the chance to feed them and see them really close up.
The rest of the sanctuary can be booked for a tour or you can self-guide yourself, there are events in different enclosures at different times, and the gift shop has some cute memorabilia.
This is a NPO that deserves so much praise for helping educate people that these animals deserve to be adored, loved, and cared for like any other one.

If you come, make sure to pack some good shoes/boots as there is mud with the snow and dirt, and make sure to bring a camera (but no bags!)

If you visit and book a tour, you are helping them stay running and care for these wolves.

If you can, donate to them and make sure to spread the word 💕☺

Wolf dog sanctuary that provides self-guided tours and interactive tours. It ended up being about $60 USD for the hour tour that allowed you to feed the wolf dogs if you so choose and sit in the enclosure with them. We booked ahead online and we explored the paths afterwards. There was a small gift shop at the front and an enclosure with farm animals like goats and a dog (that can be pet). Our guide did a great job providing an educational experience and also making sure to answer our questions at the end. Note that you must arrive on time with the group in order to enter the enclosure at the same time so I advise that you arrive a little early. Free parking available. It’s clear that the sanctuary cares a lot about its inhabitants and you can see feedings at certain times. You must leave bags at the front since the more mischievous wolf dogs have taken some in the past. Overall, a great place for animal lovers to stop by and learn more about these beautiful creatures.

My wife took me here for a date. I'll be honest, it was one of the best trips we've done. They are doing great work here. The animals look healthy and well cared for. We will most definitely be back again and again.

Beautiful animals, very informative tour. You can't help but really feel for them and their stories. Many more wolfdogs that aren't in my pictures, total of 55. Will be back for the interactive tour at a later date.

A great experience. We always wanted to visit this place but since my daughter is still so young, we weren't able to visit this place until recently.

I enjoyed learning about wolfdogs. I enjoyed looking at them. We'll be back next time when my daughter is at the right age to do the other tours.

Whole experience is in our vlog:

What a gem! On my from Calgary to Canmore I stopped at the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary. I did a drop in and wish I would have booked online for a guided tour! Remarkable experience by a self guided tour - if have a deep respect for wolves or have kids, look into a guided tour (there are age regulations with kids- so call and find out).

We went on a very cold day and Yamnuska was still up and running. Had a great time during the interactive tour. The guide was knowledgable and friendly. The gift shop was also a treat with many quality items & I especially adored the "individualized" wolfdog teas. I also appreciate how active the sanctuary is on social media and YouTube and will definitely be following their work. :)

Tamara was a terrific guide. Highly recommend the interactive tour to have an up close and personal experience with these incredible animals. I also fell in love with their sweet Pyrenees livestock protectors who were happy to receive pets from guests. What a special experience and place - a must visit destination for any dog or nature lovers.

Love dogs? Curious about wolves? This is the place to go. It’s so unique and we learned a ton about wolves and wolfdogs. Don’t expect to go pet the big fluffy dogs- that is not what this is about. They provide great insight about wolfdogs and how their look and temperament changes based on their wolf “content”.

This is a sanctuary- sadly most wolfdogs end up being euthanized so Yamnuska takes in and provides a home for those that it can. We were able to view a lot of them, and during the interactive tour Kuna, the first Wolfdog the owner had, came up and gave both my husband and I a little nuzzle, which was pretty cool and unexpected. As we were walking the grounds they all started to howl which was amazing.

Definitely go. Set your expectations correctly and you will not be disappointed!

It was amazing. We went on a cold, cold day but we still loved it. The animals are majestic and we loved getting to be up close. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We had time to ask questions and she was happy to answer. I had questions before we went and my email was responded to promptly. We will go back again.

The sanctuary staff were all nice and very knowledgeable about wolfdogs. My kids and I did the Intro to Wolfdogs tour which was so interesting. I highly recommend visiting Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary and supporting a fantastic cause.

Really awesome experience. Did the walk for 28 dollars per person. Lots of different wolf dogs to look at and learn about. Some are at the fence some are further away. When I was there they started to all howl at once which was amazing to hear and see. You can also feed them for a more expensive price around 68 dollars per person but you must be 15 years or older to do this. They have a nice gift store to shop in and lots of parking. No dogs allowed and no howling at the wolves. Would recommend this if your looking for a unique experience.

From the moment we booked the Interactive tour online, we have had nothing less then an Amazing experience dealing with Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary!! 🐺
On this past Friday Dec 15, my boyfriend and I did the 2pm Interactive tour and had Lindsey as our tour guide! She was super friendly, very knowledgeable and so informative. You can tell she loves her job and is an amazing handler of the wolf dogs. We learned so much about the care, love and effort Yamnuska puts into their wolf dogs and into making sure they live a happy, healthy and fulfilled life. Knowing they are nonprofit and run solely based on donations is amazing. We actually did a birthday donation last year for my birthday to help support Yamnuska which you can do on Facebook on the donation post. Hopefully the $125 got far for your wolf dogs!!! :)
We walked the grounds and did the sanctuary walk which was an easy and accessible walk.
You can read all the info about the different enclosures and wolf dogs on the plaques on each enclosure. Learning about their wolf content, where they came from and their names and the type of wolf they are.
We also had a cool moment and got to hear the wolf dogs howling back and forth. So unreal to hear that right in front of you. Such a memorable experience.
For the Interactive Tour: We got to go into 2 different enclosures: Yamnuska and Cascade. First we met the wolf dogs: Kuna, Nova, Zeus and Nikki in Yamnuska. Kuna came upto us and ate the deer jerky out of our hands. She was very selective and only chose that out of our treats. lol We were so excited to meet her as she is the first wolfdog here at Yamnuska and she was very sweet and friendly.
Next we went into Cascade and got to meet the wolf dogs: Horton, Loki, and Rue. Loki cleaned us out of our treats very quickly.
Overall an educational and exciting experience! Beautiful spot to enjoy wolf dogs! Very glad we finally got to be able to visit. Thank you to the staff at Yamnuska as everyone was so welcoming and very friendly. Can’t wait to come back! :)

10/10 recommend visiting this place. Their wolfdogs are all rescued and have their own space to roam and live as close as they would in the wild. We went on a saturday, and they happened to have an enrichment activity for one of the enclosures. So, check their website if that is something you'd like to witness. The staff are knowledgeable and will answer any questions you may have. And their gift shop has a lot of cute stuff you can get for yourself or as a gift or souvenir. It's definitely a once in a life time experience!

Literally the best trip we've taken in ages! Please go visit this wolf sanctuary! It is lovingly organized and run by dedicated owner and friendly staff. Many wolfdogs there to see and photograph. Many events in the day and also an immersive tour to do if you'd like to get closer to the beautiful fluffy wolfies. Gift shop is decked out. I can't wait to return! <3

I absolutely loved this experience! Luna got really close for the food but the other Wolf-dogs stayed at a distance. The staff are all very knowledgable and care so much for those animals. The pens the packs stay in are fairly large filled with brush trees and plate forms/ dens. The gift shop has clothing, stuffed wolf-dogs mugs/cups, and other small items.

Highly suggest trying the tour so you get to go into the pens and feed the wolf-dogs that come to you.
