Botanical Garden of Rio de Janeiro

An amazing place that’s definitely worth a visit. You can only pay in cash, ticket price is 73 R$. It’s very wet there, so get your lightest clothes on and maybe come after the lunch. The park is open til 5 o’clock.

Cash only at the gate but you can pay via a QR code at the gate. The park is grey with a wide variety of plants. Easy to get to from Ipanema and a short walk from the lake. The Atlantic Forest path on the edge of the mountain with lush tropical jungle surrounding it was my favourite. Loads of monkeys in the trees to sit and watch. Toucans are noisy and can be seen if you follow them noisily chatting to each other. Well worth a visit and it’s many trees shelter you from the sunshine.

I was a visitor from the US. First off, the front gate only accepted cash. Be prepared for that. Carry your ticket for entrance and exit. Many signs in the park have Portuguese and English. There is a small restaurant cafe near the medicinal garden if you get thirsty or hungry. Beautiful walk and vistas. Great photo opportunities.

Most beautiful botanical garden I’ve visited. We had a great peaceful time! I would advise to go early on hot days and to bring repellent. Make sure to have cash on you when you want to buy the tickets there as they don’t accept cards. Online purchase only possible with a Brazilian creditcard.

The biggest botanical gardens I've been to. If you look carefully you'll find monkey hanging on the trees.

Soo beautiful, it's the prettiest and most diverse park I've ever seen in the world, and I've been, and I've been in many others, it's a lifetime visit.

We spent a little bit more money and had a golf cart and tour guide Travis around and we definitely don’t regret it. Our tour guide was so friendly and spoke really good English it was an extremely hot day so I’m not having to walk through the park really helped. he stopped at all the places that we wanted to take pictures and he spoke about the history. It was great I definitely recommend spending the extra money. The park itself was clean and beautiful. It’s a must see. However, if you’re buying tickets on the spot, they only take cash they do not accept any kind of card. That was a bummer we had to hop in a cab and go to an ATM machine to get the cash. However, there is a restaurant there, has an amazing menu. Great food, great atmosphere….. definitely recommends stopping and eating there. It’s called Green garden. They actually accept visa! We spent a total of 2 1/2 hours there, including eating lunch, and after the park we stopped at the restaurant again and had a cold drink.

Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Rio! It is such a serene place in the middle of the bustling city! Very beautiful and not too busy

A huge garden and it is beautiful, only hope there would be more flowers blooming visiting in January.

Amazing experience for the quiet walk through the forest and enjoying the beautiful nature. There are monkeys there that were so fun to watch. Palm alley and bamboo forest were impressive.

Sure the biggest orchid variety that I have seen, just so beautiful. The park was so peaceful, we followed the recommended route and had the opportunity to see some of Brazil's native trees. Totally worth visiting!

Well worth a visit but ensure you give yourself enough time. There are golf cart tours with a guide that run at an additional fee but they stop at 3pm.

A beatiful place to walk and watch a wide variety of wildlife, trees and flowers that are part of Brasil. One of my top three places in Rio de Janeiro. The ponds and the Orchideario are gorgeous.

Tip: if the weather is cloudy make sure you bring a rain coat just in case

A great place to visit if you find yourself in Rio de Janeiro. It's a bit far from the city centre, but worth the detour. Make sure you bring money with you, since they don't accept other ways of payment like debit/credit cards. If you're a local, you get a significant discount. The garden is huge and beautiful. You will wander around for hours and see marvelous flora and fauna. It's also a bit refreshing.

It's the most beautiful botanical garden I've been to! Take yourself at least two hours to explore this place. There is a suggested route on the map that lets you see most of the garden in a reasonable time frame.
