Nova Capela Restaurant & Bar

Had a wonderful Portuguese meal here! Love the service too. Don't speak Portuguese but the waiters (who I believe is a unique point of this restaurant too!) were really friendly. We ordered the fried dumplings and egg tart on top of our mains. YUM. SO GOOOD. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Amazing old school Brazilian restaurant. I ended up having more than enough for 3 people! Be sure to get that Brahma black beer and throw the pepper sauce alllll over your meats, broccoli rice and potatoes! Talk about heaven!

Spent 10 days in Rio and this restaurant was my choice for 3 different times. I absolutely loved eating and spending time at this place. Food is the absolute best. True Brazilian recipes and an amazing choice of meat cuts and sides. waiters are professionals and nice. Service is fast and partitions are generous.

Great restaurant. The best "bolinho de bacalhau = codfish ever". We also had an awesome lamb with broccoli rice and baked potatoes.

Classic restaurant, in the heart of Lapa. Asked waiter for a menu recommendation and he brought us cabrito, potatoes, and rice mixed with broccoli and garlic. The 1st bite of the cabrito forces you to close your eyes and be happy. Incredible texture/flavor, cooked to perfection. Ice cold draft beer. Family environment. Artists, politicians, historical figures have all sat at the same tables. Cool exposed brick wall on your way to the bathroom. High recommend.

Maybe the best restaurant in Rio food-wise

Came here with my wife. Really friendly, authentic restaurant. The staff and owner were really attentive- checking on us regularly. Had the chicken with vegetables- absolutely fantastic, the veg had loads of flavour and the chicken had a delicious bbq taste. No thrills but packed full of flavour and excellent value. Portion sizes were enormous! They were really accommodating of my dietary requirements making me a gluten free meal. Would highly recommend.

Bife chorizo, with vegetables was excellent. My gf chose this place for our 2 year anniversary. The bananas and cinnamon dessert was great, we asked for vanilla ice cream with it, excellent. Total cost for 2 with dessert, a soda (guarana) a glass of wine and the service charge (10% tip included in restaurants bill) 120 Reals about $24 USD.

This 1903 landmark restaurant is an oasis of calm and order, on a street of drunken disorder, with the cleanest restrooms in Lapa. An excellent assortment of Brazilian dishes, served by efficient waiters in white jackets. Croquettes de cabrito, bolinhos de Bacalho, and a tasty assortment of pastéis are offered as appetizers. The menu inludes a variety of steaks, seafood and lamb dishes. It is moderately priced, the beer is cold, the caipirinhas are strong, the atmosphere is friendly, not stuffy. In a neighborhood of loud bars, a quiet, clean place with helpful staff is greatly appreciated.
