Not sure how I hadn't heard of this place before, but we stumbled across it and decided we had to have breakfast in a train whilst on holidays. The food is not only stunning, but tastes amazing! It is super filling too! The service is impressive, the staff were amazing! We will definitely be back ❤

The pancakes here are amazing and Ben really looked after us as did the rest of the staff. We celebrated my husband's 75th birthday. Can highly recommend coming here. There is a variety of food on the menu, not just pancakes.

My recent visit to this charming tourist attraction left me thoroughly delighted. This unique train, which has been a fixture for over two decades, offers a delightful blend of nostalgia and fun.The insitu train hosts a variety of themed carriages, each with its own distinct character. The South African carriage, with its biltong and braii offerings, provided a delicious taste of South Africa's cuisine. The fairy carriage, on the other hand, transported me to a whimsical world of enchantment. The gift shop carriage was a treasure trove of souvenirs and mementos, perfect for taking home a piece of the experience. And who could resist the pancake carriage, where I enjoyed some mouthwatering pancakes? One thing that truly impressed me was the ample parking available, making my visit hassle-free. The small playground was a great addition, especially for families with children, and the presence of clean toilets was much appreciated. But that's not all; the site's second-hand and antique dealership was a hidden gem in itself. I spent hours browsing through unique finds and couldn't resist taking home a few vintage treasures.Overall, this attraction is a testament to its enduring charm and the warm hospitality of its hosts. Whether you're a tourist or a local, I highly recommend visiting this timeless gem for a memorable experience that combines history, fun, and a touch of magic.

AMAZING PLACE!!! Such a cool, unique place to visit, every carriage has something different to see and the people are all top notch! We had eggs Benedict at the pancake carriage and WOW! Definitely our new bene spot! The hosts fit us in with no reservation, amazing service and best brekky we've had since moving to Tassie for sure! Thankyou, we will be back, and 100/10 recommend this little gem!😊

We stopped in for a visit on our drive into Hobart. Really cool wandering through the different carts and checking out the different businesses. We stopped at the pancake carriage just after 10 on a Sunday and unfortunately all inside tables were taken but there was plenty of room outside so we just sat out. Recommend booking a table if you want one inside. We ordered Canadian breakfast with coffee. Good toilet facilities with baby change table. Small train themed playground for small kids. Well worth a visit.

Magnificent use of locomotive history and rail cars in a commercial tourist context which was interesting and worthy of the time we spent in the Margate Train precinct. A fun place to visit and fabulous second hand shed packed with a collection of eclectic goods.

Ever wanted to visit an old train stop that is stuck in time? Well book a ticket to Tassie and stop at the Margate Train. The station building and the train are all a nod to the oldern times and preservation of something awesome. Being inside the carriages always brings back memories of the tiny London tube trains. There are a number of interesting shops and a pancake restaurant to check out! Definitely worth the stop.

Great experience! The Barista was awesome, he helped us out with the chair for baby. Really good chocolate pancakes.

Lots of quirky little shops in the train, ranging from food to clothing and lollies. There's interesting things all across the site. It can get pretty busy on weekends and holidays

Good historic place to stop and have a look on the way to Margate or Southern. You can also try pancake and smoked salmon bagel here. Taste ok but the atmosphere while eating in the train is unique.

Visited the pancake train with my elderly frail father today. Ben and his staff were so kind, thoughtful and helpful.

I had the King Island beef pie with salad and amazing chutney. Fabulous and thoroughly recommend. Frankly, the nicest pie I have ever had. Loads of filling, tasty and such beautifully light pastry. Yum!

Dad had eggs Benedict with bacon and hollandaise on sour dough toast, and it was both substantial and delicious!

Seriously good coffee too!

But the highlight for us was the wonderful personalised service. If you hanker for proper old-fashioned attentive, caring service, look no further!

The train carriage is very comfy, and full of character. Limited seating, so not too crowded or noisy. The food is freshly prepared, served promptly and is really delicious.

If you are looking for a unique/novel family dining experience with first class service then book the Margate pancake train. (SO much more than pancakes! ) Excellent free parking too!

It is super popular so booking ahead recommended, otherwise just browse in the numerous other carriages until a table becomes available. Inside and outside tables available.

Margate pancake train! Old fashioned milkshakes, spiders, pancakes, and delicious meals! Your next destination for the whole family! You will not be disappointed!

Amazing haircut from the lady barber. She was friendly, knew her stuff, made mum and me feel heard during the consultations and delivered a great haircut. Would recommend again. 2nd time here. 😍

Love the pancake here. One for two person around $24. We had one pancake with full of cherries and one chai latte. They usually have special dishes as well. We went there on Saturday and full of tables. Pretty busy place and great atmosphere for Saturday avo!
