Villa Howden

The view is stunning from the villa, extremely quiet and comfortable room. Room service were very helpful & attentive. Had a beautiful morning breakfast facing the sea and garden. It was delightful and they organised an in morning call massage as well. Dinner was great and staff are very friendly. I was not regretting my choice when I found this place. I Would definitely come back! Loved our stay!

A friend and I have an annual Birthday celebration; this year we chose a weekend at Villa Howden. We weren’t disappointed.

The daily breakfast options were minimal but the amount provided was substantial and enjoyable, (although I’m not a fan of thermos coffee and annoyed I had to pay an extra $5 for a decent coffee).

Dinner, again a limited menu but the food was delicious and more than adequate.

The service was wonderful, the staff attentive, friendly and obliging.

We had an unexpected issue with our room, and without any fuss or hesitation were provided with an immediate upgrade and profuse apologies (the issue was not the fault of anyone, it was an unavoidable mishap).

We booked for High Tea and even though the staff were busy organising a wedding that day they were still attentive and accommodating to us, and the High Tea was fabulous!

The rooms are well appointed with the expected bits and bobs, although I did struggle with the extreme temperature changes in the shower.

The gardens, pool, various sitting rooms, library, and over all setting were just what we needed.

Not pretentious, very relaxing, I highly recommend a stay at Villa Howden.

We picked the location to be away from the city and for sightseeing further south. We weren't disappointed. Wonderful building, very attentive staff, nothing was a problem. Our room was very spacious, clean and well appointed. The 20 minute drive into Hobart was easy. Really enjoyed the 6 night stay.

We recently stayed at Villa Howden for our Wedding weekend, everything was absolutely superb. From the gorgeous grounds and French provincial style to the amazing service and good food. Very impressed and will definitely stay again

A really delightful getaway destination! We could have been anywhere in the world- without all the hassle of overseas travel. A perfect romantic location.

Stunning villa & gorgeous room. Staff were very helpful & attentive. Had high tea for two to celebrate anniversary which was delightful and they organised an in house massage as well. Dinner was great though maybe the set price was a bit dear for the size of the meals. Grounds were beautiful but definitely need a bit of attention to bring up to the standard they should be. Would definitely go back! Loved our stay!

Stayed for 1 night and it was a very pleasant experience. The water view villa was amazing. The room is spacious, well- presented, with complete amenities. You can open the door to the veranda and have some fresh air. Only thing was, the guests below us were smoking in their veranda and the smoke kept coming up to our room, so we ended up just closing our doors. The heated pool is my favourite. The whole villa was beautiful, the grounds, the library, the restaurant, the lobby. Highly recommended.

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights, sadly returning to the real world only last Friday.
From the moment we drove up to Villa Howden I was impressed by her serene beauty and stunning yet comfortable ambience. Our room had a view of the courtyard and from the balcony beautiful water views.
Our room had everything we needed to allow us to unwind and find ourselves again. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts in the beautifully appointed restaurant and drinks in front of either the fireplace or up on the mezzanine library floor overlooking the fireplace.
I very much enjoyed the heated pool which was a welcome retreat after exploring Kingston and Blackman's Bay beaches. Both of these locations had fabulous cafes and restaurants also. Villa Howden was also close to the ferry to Bruny island and a must for anyone wanting tasting experiences (cheese, whisky, wine, chocolate, cidar and oysters) all of which we indulged in and would recommend.
The staff were very welcoming and couldnt do enough to ensure that our stay was all we hoped it would be We highly recommend Villa Howden and will definitely return when next visiting Hobart

What a great location! Definitely felt spoilt to be able to stay in a salubrious accommodation, at a stunning location with great service. Loved the indoor, heated pool. Well worth it.

My partner and I stayed for 3 nights, we needed some time away from work and also our sharehouse.

Villa Howden provided a beautiful and refreshing place to stay, visually stunning and comfortable. Our room had a beautiful water view and we particularly enjoyed listening to the water foundation trickle outside when we opened the balcony doors 🖤

Our room had everything we needed. We enjoyed a meal in the restaurant and drinks in front of their cosy fireplace.

We enjoyed our complimentary breakfasts and sitting in the library playing chess.

My partner particularly enjoyed the heated pool. The water was so clear and warm, we floated and relaxed for a few hours!

The Peter Murrell reserve down the road has some nice walking tracks that we enjoyed exploring. We also indulged at the Margate Pancake Train, not to be missed!

The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. We would love to return and highly recommend a visit!

The staff were very attentive to our every need. The food was very nice and the atmosphere was relaxing. A very nice way to spend our anniversary. The rooms were clean and even had a glass of sparkling wine on arrival. Lovely views and many different sitting areas.

Everything was pleasant and enjoyable about our stay in the Delux Villa Suite - Water View. We had a very comfortable bed and atmosphere. Everything we needed was close by and convenient. The pool was out of order while we stayed there however we have access to it for free once it is working again. So overall, very happy and highly recommend for a comfy and unique stay.

I had an excellent 3 night stay here with my wife for a wedding anniversary. Great location, quiet and secluded, but only 15 minutes from Hobart and 15 minutes to the Kettering ferry (to Bruny Island). The room was good and the staff were unobtrusive, but very helpful when we needed anything. The communal fireplace/lounge and library/games rooms were a great place to relax over a boardgame or glass of wine in the winter evenings. The included breakfasts were good without being spectacular, but we really enjoyed our dinner experience: 4 course meal - soup, oysters, steak, dessert and glass of wine at under $70 per person (dinner only available Wednesday-Sunday and bookings required). Overall a lovely experience despite some of the negative reviews. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a quiet, more intimate hotel/holiday experience and in our experience well worth the price we paid.

Unable to go to Europe for our honeymoon, we thought a French Villa for our first stop would be lovely, and Villa Howden exceeded expectations! We were very lucky to receive a free upgrade to the Tower Suite as other guests had sadly cancelled due to lockdowns. Would highly recommend booking this room outright, it's such a beautiful and comfy space.

The common area with games and fire place, all with French furniture, is stunning and a lovely place to have dinner and port by the fire.

The staff were super friendly and attentive, bringing us water, glasses for our port and everything we could need before we even thought to ask! We were recommended to visit Robbie Brown's for dinner one night and would highly recommend there too, delicious and great value!

We honestly felt like royalty at Villa Howden and would go back in a heartbeat.

After my third attempt with covid, work and unforseen building event finally was welcomed by fabulous staff. Lovely stay and for a moment it felt like your stepping back 100 years in Spain. Restaurant well worth the $75 pp. Enjoyed our stay. Thank you

I can not recommend this villa enough! 10000/10 stars for you! We had the best sleep in the comfiest bed. After our stay, I brought the identical sheets and quilt that they on the bed! The attention to detail at this villa to second to none, even down to the comfort of your sheets! The cute shaving kits included in the room highlights how much they care about the customer experience!

Cute boutique accom with French inspired decor, water views and friendly service.
We enjoyed the plated breakfast (not buffet), boardgames room and a nice cocktail by the fireplace.
Do note that there are no escalators which may be an issue for some people.

Sarah made this stay so amazing. fantastic value, and probably the best place we stayed at on our honeymoon. despite being hit by staff shortages (c-19), they really made us feel at home, and everything we needed/wanted was looked after superbly. could not have been easy - they just made it look easy. well done.

Attended a wedding function of my friend there. Views are superb, decorations are antique and elegant. You can do a lot of photoshoots and tons of different poses. Staff are nice and helpful. Foods are nice and presentable even though I did not really enjoy the Kilpatrick Oysters. Steak is more on the well-done side than my preference - medium. Lava cake is not runny when you cut it. Loved the soft shell crab spring roll.
