Had the chance to meet all 3 generations of this store and they were all super friendly and helpful to get us geared up for a fun Phillip Island surf experience. An extra big shout to the owners son Jack who was our surf coach for a 2 hour group lesson. He was very knowledgeable and took great care of us to ensure we had a great experience for our first time at Smith’s Beach, highly recommend this shop to anyone visiting Phillip Island and looking for a fun surf experience. Price was very reasonable for 3 days of enjoyable surfing. First day was a learning experience and next two days were spent surfing. Friendly experienced coaches and the equipment was good quality. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Smiths Beach.

Great bunch of guys. Hired a couple of boogie boards plus flippers. Very good rates. Great customer service. Smith’s beach has got to be one of those rare hidden gems you find from time to time. And when you do find it, you never forget it. Will be back here a lot in the future.

I took the lessons with my two daughters. We never surfed before. The staff members are very attentive, caring, friendly and supportive. They start with emphasis on water safety which is the most important. Then they provide the concept of how to get up on board. During the lessons, all the staff members are very enthusiastic to help each of us to get up on the surfboard and let us experience the feeling of riding on the wave. If you want to learn surfing, this is surely the very good place to go.

Overall awesome experience!!! Surf shop so helpful and honest with choosing the best day to go out for a group lesson. Lauren & Teagan had facilitated the lesson and were very fun, informative and helpful throughout the whole lesson. During the Covid headache the shop were willing to give full refund if we felt uncomfortable or wanted to cancel. Thanks for such a great day!

We had a great experience at Smith's Beach Island Surf Shop. The in-store service was fantastic these guys are patient, welcoming and knowledgeable and the surf lesson was first class. Grace went above and beyond what was expected from a group session to ensure my Daughter got the best surfing experience possible. Thanks heaps Grace.

These guys have been so helpful and friendly. I can remember 7 years ago doing surf lessons and having a ball with them. Now I regularly hire boards off them and they are always relaxed and happy to answer all my questions. They make me feel so welcomed & comfortable as a beginner surfer!

These beautiful people donated there time to help our camp quality group, and it was amazing the kids had such a great time, lots of huge smiles, thank you Island Surfboards!

Cannot recommend Island Surf Shop enough! I had the best customer experience service with Grace she helped me out so much and was so amazing giving me great advice when renting and then buying my first surfboard. So very grateful for all their help and for being so kind and giving me the best experience possible!

i would highly recommend this shop and instructor Lauren to anyone, the booking process was easy, I went there the instructor new my name, she welcomed me and gave me a clear run down of how the process works and she was knowledgeable, she understood me as a person and knew how to teach me, for a adult at 46 to be able to teach me and make me stand on a board in my first class was amazing, I have never touched board in my life and this 2hr private lesson i would highly recommend as Lauren really nit picks every step and makes you understand why. So highly recommend. thanks Lauren.

Booked 3 surf lessons for my son. Staff and coaches could not have been more helpful. He loved every minute, coaches were really supportive and encouraging. We definitely will be back!

Simon and Alice were everything instructors should be. Patient, highly knowledgeable, kind and encouraging. With clear instructions and regular feedback I got better and better through out the day and stood up so many times I lost count. They taught us to slow down, focus on the steps and the reasons behind them and with that so much of the fear, rush and panic was removed. I cannot recommend them highly enough
