Talking Hens

We love talking hens! This is our second flock and I wouldn’t buy from any one else. The quality of eggs from the feed is better than any other feed we have tried and the delivery service of food makes it super easy. We love our backyard hens and highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of bringing them home too! Staff are so lovely and helpful too!

I recently purchased laying hens from Jason and Giuliana at Talking Hens, and I couldn't be more pleased. Their operation is incredibly professional, and dealing with them was a fantastic experience. The hens are healthy, and the entire process was smooth. Highly recommend!

I have had a wonderful experience with the staff at Talking Hens: polite, knowledgable, always considering what we might need. We purchased two hens and a coup about 2 years ago. Our hens are healthy and content and strong layers giving us a wonderful stock of eggs. I continue to get my food from them even though it is a distance to travel. Kind thank them highly enough.

I went to the inaugural discuzsion on "Getting started with Backyard Chickens" last Sunday. A free event held at the picturesque property in Merricks.
Jason and his wife were a wealth of knowledge and it was a fun, interesting time.
The sbop on the Talking Hens property was beautifully set out and the range of products was amazing !

We purchased 3 gorgeous hens from Talking Hens, now called Matilda, Lily and Ginger.
They’ve been with us for just over 1 week now, and they’re getting more and more friendly every day. We’re all enjoying their company, especially our 2 young children which run to visit them constantly all day to see how many eggs they’ve laid. I must also say they’re very cute, so inquisitive and lovely to watch.
We’re currently getting 3 to 4 eggs a day which is fabulous and tastes amazing.
Jason, Julianna and the Talking Hens team were so wonderful to deal with. Thanks for all your help.

Absolutely wonderful experience with Talking Hens staff, both Jason and Michael are terrific to deal with, but the best part is their gorgeous Hybrid girls are the perfect chickens. We travel a long distance to get these girls because of their beautiful nature, it is worth the travel.

The shop in Merricks is top notch and beautifully presented. I wouldn’t purchase my chickens from anywhere else!

Healthy happy chickens!! All three of my girls lay eggs the day we got them! They are all so well behaved, friendly and healthy. You can tell they were raised with love! Cannot recommend Talking Hens enough, especially for first time chicken parents.

Bought two delightful girls from here several months ago. They are happy healthy chooks that lay an egg a day every day bar 3 since we got them. We have two cats and they all took no time in getting along. The feed I buy at Jason’s is exceptional quality and well priced. The ladies at my work say mine are the best eggs they’ve ever tasted. It’s the happy chooks and the good feed. Love this little place.

I'm so glad I visited Talking Hens! I'm new to owning my little flock and the lovely lady spent about half an hour going through things with me. I feel confident I'm looking after my chickens the right way and know if I had any questions I know where to go.

We had a wonderful experience at Talking Hens, a late visit on a Sunday and the team couldn't have been more obliging. So helpful & patient letting the children choose and name their own chickens. A one stop shop with all provisions required, giving us all helpful information to ensure the hens are well looked after. The hens are super friendly & comfortable in their new environment. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for backyard chickens.

Talking Hens is such a terrific full-service offering if you want to have chickens at home. It was a one-stop-shop for everything I needed to build a happy, healthy chicken-ownership experience. Over time, I've returned again and again to restock from the excellent selection of grain feed, hemp nesting and pine wood shavings to keep the coop comfortable as well as odour- and rodent-free. Better yet, Jason and his team are always happy to talk chickens and on hand to give advice or handy hints. As a result, I've had a consistent supply of excellent eggs from good-natured chooks who are endlessly entertaining. It's an all-round winning experience.

We have been coming here for around 2yrs for our 4 girls feed. We usually make a day trip of it pick up our food and any extras we may need, then go for a drive to flinders beach for a picnic. The staff here are so helpful if I have any issues they are always willing to help with lots of info. Then they always put the feed into the boot for me, Excellent customer service going above and beyond to keep our girls and my husband & I happy.

I spoke with Jason over the phone and he was very helpful and freely shared his advice and experience. After using Bugs away the coup was left with a pleasant smell. I’ve been pleased with the effectiveness of Liceaway to rid lice and reduce skin irritation on my hens as well as having the peace of mind that I haven’t covered my hens in chemicals. Thank you - Excellent product!

Helpful, knowledgeable, caring business.My wife especially appreciated the care in which Jason handled the hens allowing her to pick out the girls that appealed to her which in turn were immediately named. We have Cinnamon, Nutmeg & Cloves which we now refer to as The Spice Girls. Not planned, just the minute she saw the first hen, the colour cinnamon came into her head.
The shop also sells everything you need in order to set up a happy hen house.
