Hamer's Bar & Bistro

We were kindly seated at the bar table by the windows as we have no booking. Our meals came quickly and were absolutely delicious. Pricing was a little expensive but for a special night out, very reasonable.

We stopped here for dinner whilst in Strahan.
Great find with great service and awesome meals.
We had the 400g wagyu rump with classic potatoes and truffle butter.

Pleasantly surprised!! After reading mixed reviews we decided to risk it... and were impressed, we had oysters and prawn ravioli then curry scallops and Cape Grim eye fillet.. all were delish, the steak and ravioli standouts!! The service was prompt and friendly with beautiful views out to the harbour. Give it a go 👍😋

Have been on a business trip and got told about this hidden gem for an afterwork dinner. One of the best places in Tasmania, highly recommend

Short staffed in kitchen and kept us informed even though we had a wait for main well looked after. Great service overall and food good.

Great place to eat with lovely atmosphere and view over Bay

Lovely bistro with homey vibes. We sat near a large fireplace, which I’m sure gives off a lot of heat in winter. The food came quickly and was delicious and well priced.

Some of the best steaks we've ever had. This was was so good we probably ate here three times during our stay in Strahan. Loved the steak with mushroom sauce, but the butter sauce also wonderful. Excellent salmon, too. Affogatos also excellent. If this is what some people consider "basic pub fare," we'd love to follow you around and eat at the pubs you go to.

Lucky to get a table as we didn’t have a booking so definitely book ahead if you can.

We just stopped for an ice cream, and the service and portions were exceptional. Well deserved 5 stars

If you expect a typical small town pub meal here you will be disappointed. The quality, presentation and taste of the meals are better than most so called 'fine dining' restaurants I've eaten in. It's priced accordingly, but is well worth it for a great night out.

We have been travelling around Tassie with our 2yo for over 2 weeks and dining out once in each town we stay.. this hasn't always been easy with limited options at times but last night after a last minute decision to dine here, we are so glad be did! Food, service and atmosphere were wonderful! Staff were helpful and allowed the three of us to have a wonderful time! Thank you.

Awesome food and drinks with great staff and chef!
We arrived without a booking and was asked to wait until a table to freed up. Not long after a bus load of people (who had tables reserved) arrived. As we waited in the bar, we could see the dishes being taken through to the restaurant and they looked fantastic, with large portions and all well presented. Based on what we saw, we had chosen our meals. Finally, we did get a table however was soon asked by Kate, who was working feverishly, if we could move to another table. Kate was so polite and friendly, and continued to look after us (and others) for the night. Much appreciated Kate. When meals arrived, we were not disappointed. They looked just like the one’s served earlier in the evening. The tastes were incredible, and all our dishes were exceptional with the freshest of ingredients. Totally recommend the Salmon with lemon pasta, however the Pan Fried Chicken and Fish of the Day satisfied my companions. Huge thankyou to the chef and her/his staff.

Strahan has only 3/4 restaurants of which Hamers is the best. Pls don’t miss to try the lamb it was too good. The location is very beautiful . Right next to the river. Must try if you visit Strahan

Service was fantastic very happy customers price is good value food beautiful Tasmania salmon with black rice I love it and lamb skewers with generous fresh mix salad, Turkish bread ❤definitely Recommend this place thank you ☺

Had dinner on the 28th of September 2023, beautiful meal oysters for entree and salmon for main. Meals were a good size and very well presented.

We had lunch ordering the special which was bacon and prawn fettuccine and butter chicken with basmati rice. They were both so yummy, we both cleared the plates in no time. Then we ordered macadamia ice cream, and that was delicious too, not too sweet, eating macadamia nuts every bite. Top quality food, excellent location, perfect weather, what more can you ask for.
